Namco Bandai opened up a teaser site for Tales of Link. "When disaster falls from the heavens to the earth, hope also springs from the ground," the site reads. The upcoming game Tales game is a free to play title for iOS and Android with new characters like Sara.

you ever get the feeling that iOS games are where great concept artists’ work go to die?

but in all seriousness, good art is one of the few things I can admire from the platform

    • DyLaN

Ever seen the screenshot of DR iOS or TWEWY SR? The HD art looks beautiful on it.

they REALLY need to change their title, it is so misleading. This could easily be read as “Legend of Zelda: Tales of Link” by someone who doesn’t know about the tales series.

Hell, even I know of the Tales series, yet every time i see the title, for a couple of seconds I think something new that’s related to Zelda is out. I know I cant be the only person out there who gets confused by the title.

    • domonkun

I slightly agree, it’s a confusing title at first glance. But to be fair, and even though I love The Legend of Zelda, the series shouldn’t have a monopoly on the word “link” just because it’s their main character’s name.

Looks nice. Still need to see how it plays to decide abt it. But I have a feeling this won’t come over just like the Escort titles.

    • XypherCode

      Reminded me of .hack//Link

    • Suicunesol

I don’t know… most people don’t know who “Link” is. They’re more acquainted with that elven dude in green named Zelda.

(As long as it doesn’t have “Zelda” in it, it should be fine.)

    • The title isn’t “misleading”. What can Siliconera and other sites do when that is the title of game? People just need to read the article(s) concerning the subject so there is no misunderstanding – that’s all they can do.

      • Alexander Marquis Starkey

He means Namco should change the Title.

        • My bad. Misread as it being targeted at Siliconera.

    • WhyWai

      It’s a mobile F2P.. nobody cares! i despite F2p mobile shits

      • DyLaN

I care. And apparently ppl assuming every F2P automatically equal to shit is popular now.

There are good F2P stuff you know.

        • School Idol Addict

Yes there’s a few F2P games i enjoyed playing, but not once i played a F2P game and i didn’t feel like forced sooner or later to spend money if i wanted to be able to continue enjoying the game.

          • 紅蓮

Playing mobile F2P games without spending money has it’s own thrill, and you can boast that as well.

Puzzle & Dragons rank 154 without buying gems
Love Live! rank 49 without buying loveca stones (going for hiatus soon)

Million Arthur Vita rank 50 only bought 1000MC just to check how much difference in gacha with ticket and with MC, level 50 (finished story mode) and quit

    • ishyg

Not really misleading, as the Zelda games are more associated with the name Zelda than Link. There might have been instances where Link is mentioned in the subtitle (A Link to the Past, Link’ Awakening), but it’s still mostly associated with the series name. Same could be said with Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls, though in reverse as their games are mostly associated with the subtitle instead of the series name, which makes their lawsuit with Mojang a little bit ridiculous.

then this is a problem with gamers and other people. Link is a perfect word to name a tales of. if you can’t think of anything else than the Link from LoZ you need to stop playing the games of Zelda for a while or control the hype for the franchise.

    • Dokuro

      It’s not misleading at all.

  • Presea

That really is gorgeous. Im excited to see the character designs.

  • Betrayer

… iOS and Android title… God damn it.

  • Seraph

Oh boy. Paying for Grade points or NG+ content.

  • Skye Johnson

The art is really pretty! It’s almost like they paid Makoto Shinkai to do it. His art style is really similar.

Pity we probably won’t get this. But neat stuff.

  • DyLaN

Looks nice. Still need to see how it plays to decide abt it. But I have a feeling this won’t come over just like the Escort titles.

  • Katboy

    goddamit..a phone f2p game?

  • Joshua Myers

I see Milla Maxwell! and Jude

    • KingRuff

No you don’t. Jude isn’t nearly as tall as Milla, yet this boy is taller than the girl.

      • Joshua Myers

Cant you tell by the hair man? Look at it that curve on the top of her head is only been on Millia

        • Raltrios

The ahoge? I don’t see one here. What I see is the tip of a spear that you can see carries on at the bottom of her hair.

  • Arcana Wiz

well phone games are natural of the tales franchise, so i dont have any hate, cause i know they arent turning their ips into a fast cash grab, and this looks beautiful, but like the other games i dont think it will make here….

  • makubexnas

I told you so…..i see this coming mile’s away when namco trademark Tales of Link. My worse nightmare came true.

  • NTaiyokun

I’m actually kind of interested. How does a Tales game play on mobile?

  • Penguin

interesting… i hope it isn’t a pay to win game

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    I like the art

  • Pekola

Under certain circumstances, I’d be a bit miffed. But this is something extra and not really going to stop the mothership titles.

We have Xillia, Symphonia HD and Xillia 2 on the way. And also, everything points to having another mothership title in the works. TGS may shed some light on that.

Moreover, the character designer has a very vibrant and modern style so I expect the game to look really nice.
