Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Ultimate Edition Finally On PC For $24

By Viet Do . August 28, 2013 . 11:00am

It only took about two years, but the PC port of Konami’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is now finally available. Launched just yesterday, the Ultimate Edition can be discounted 20% after coupon at UK retailer GMG.

The Ultimate Edition comes with the Reverie and Resurrection DLCs, both expanding the storyline and returning the main character Gabriel to Carmilla’s castle to experience even more evil.

Lots of other games were released yesterday as well, with Lost Planet 3 making its way to all platforms, along with Killer is Dead on the PS3 and 360 (from the makers of Lollipop Chainsaw). Reviews thus far for both titles are mixed, with both coming in at around a 60/100 Metascore.

  • oh man i forgot about lost planet 3 guess its out, i wonder how the reception will be

    • I skimmed some reviews and it looks OK but definitely have a different feel now that its a different developer

Huh. ALBW is on sale and it’s not even out yet. Must be pre-order.

    • Yeah Newegg usually has a pre-order deal occasionally before a game is released. This is just a $4 off coupon, so nothing WOW. But beats paying full price if you’re sure you’ll be getting it.

I played and really liked LoI, never cared for its history, just loved the gameplay. Is Lord of Shadows recommended for me?

        Lament of Innocence.

oh. there are so many. i lost track since the gba: too ugly for the awesomeness kojima ayami brought to it in sotn.

Not sure what to tell you. Lament of Innocence, if I had to pick a game to compare to, had more DMC DNA than you’ll find in LoS. If you didn’t like the history, you obviously won’t need to worry about that here, but then it’s back to “Will you enjoy playing it?”

Based on your enjoyment of LoI, I can’t say. But, if you generally like action games, then I highly recommend it. LoS’ combat is mighty satisfying, though you may need to ratchet up the difficulty a bit before you find the enemy AI worth your time, depending on your skill level. Lots of combos to unlock and, for my money anyway, a rather rewarding combat system.

Be warned though, it’s quite lengthy for an action game. Depending on your tastes though, that may be a good thing. It was to me, anyway.

It’s a decent price, at least. I’m really happy to see more games like this on the PC.

Though, unfortunately, I’m not super fond of the Lords of Shadow franchise.
It’s still a step in the right direction, though. I’ll probably pick it up so. It’s on my Steam wishlist.
