You’re Just An Ordinary Otaku Who Loves Visiting Akihabara In Akiba’s Trip 2

By Spencer . August 28, 2013 . 9:53pm

The lead character in Akiba’s Trip 2 is just a regular Akihabara-loving geek. He gets caught up into a mess with the mysterious Magaimono organization and these demon corpse people. Their weakness is sunlight, which is why strip attacks, a move where you tear off an opponents clothes, is such an effective technique.

New for Akiba’s Trip 2 is you get to pick a partner character to explore Akihabara with you. Shizuku Tokikaze, the girl with purple pigtails, saves the protagonist when he is captured by the mysterious organization. She seems to be infused with marvelous power, but what kind of power she has is a mystery. Toshiko Sagisaka is a childhood friend of the protagonist, but she isn’t an otaku. She knows Akihabara well because she was part of the Akihabara Vigilante Corps two years ago.

Akiba’s Trip 2, like the first game, is part adventure and part beat ‘em up. One of the new moves you have is the Unison Strip technique where you and your partner can strip an opponent. Akiba’s Trip 2 is slated for release on November 7 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Chance of localization given PS3 + Vita?

Also, is it easy to develop on PS3 and Vita at the same time? Is this the new trend? So persona 5 = ps3 + vita?

  • Shady Shariest

I don’t understand why so many games make the main character an Otaku :/

    • shuratan

It’s simple, that’s the main target audience the games are going for.

      • Shady Shariest

        …Makes sense… I thought this was being localized :P
        *Note to self* “READ”

  • Dave_O_Segundo

Wow that’s cool, they changed the character designer to Akio Watanabe!

    • Kai2591

Wonder why they changed it, since I thought the original art was pretty nice.

      • s07195

Yeah, I really dug the previous art design. The fact that they changed the models to look more like the artwork in Akiba’s Trip Plus helped too.

  • Zeonsilt

    Time for import,i guess..

  • Kai2591

Looks like a big improvement. Everything looks nicer. And the protagonist this time looks more serious.
Not that I’ve ever played the original. Just seen pics and vids.

    • s07195

Of course, since he’s a silent protagonist, you can play the crazy guy if you want to.

And the original (and AS:Plus) had the option to change the MC model to ANY character model in NG+ after finishing certain endings. If you changed your character to a girl or woman, shady guys would even call out to you.

Anyways, what the MC looks like will have no bearing on the game whatsoever. :P

  • leingod

So the “strip” part is actually literal? You’re stripping girls of their clothes and their shopping bags? Niiiice… now I really wanna play this. The Vita is getting some really cool stuff lately in Japan, hope they throw us a bone :/

BTW, I’d freaking LOVE to visit Akihabara in real life someday.

  • DyLaN

    Dat SEGA placement.

And since AS2 have good graphic now, I feel a little bit awkward watching the stripping scene ^_^; lol

    • s07195

I’m more interested in how the clothes actually have HP now. That’s an improvement, since the first game just had you hitting the opponent until their clothes were nearly off.

  • s07195

So this game takes place two years after the first game, huh… I believe the Akihabara Vigilante Corps was the name of the group the main character was part of.

Hopefully they explain what happened with the Kageyashi, since this game seems to be about Magaimono (though whether they’re the same is to be seen.)

Also, wonder if it’s more open world compared to last time, which changed it to ‘areas’ instead. The streets still seem half-deserted though.

  • brian

THESE GIRLS ARE TOO CUTE NOT TO BE LOCALIZED.
Although that’s true about a lot of cute girls in games, but hhnnng.
And why do anime openings always seem to end with birds flying away?

  • Testsubject909

    Completely ordinary otaku. Yup.

  • Aristides

lol so where is the localization announcement? XD

  • Göran Isacson

Huh. Out of curiosity, I may just be getting the wrong idea here, buut… are there ANY male enemies in the game? Cause it sure looked like there were only girls from that trailer.

    • Solomon_Kano

There were some dudes in the trailer.

      • Göran Isacson

Okay. Most of them seemed to sport breasts or skirts… mind giving me seconds when male enemies appear, or pointing out if they’re like in a supertiny window?

        • Solomon_Kano

I’d have to rewatch the trailer for that but, off the top of my head, the person that the female character strips at the very end is a male (no lingerie). I’ll edit s’more in later.

I’m liking the sound of that “Unison Strip.” Sounds sexy lol :D

  • Kelohmello

Wow, spam bots are getting smarter. Slightly. Now they can try to stay on topic. lol.

  • neocatzon

They have their worth though, for us to utilize ‘flag as inappropriate’ button that rarely ever used.

    Edit: stupidity

  • brian

    Flag as appropriate?

  • neocatzon

    Damn, my bad.
