Level-5 Delays Little Battlers eXperience Strategy Game

By Spencer . August 30, 2013 . 1:46am

imageLevel-5 is making a strategy game with the tiny mecha from the Little Battlers eXperience. The Little Battlers Wars was bumped back a month from September 26 to October 31 to further increase the quality of the game.

The Little Battlers Wars takes place is in a school for LBX players. You just transferred into the academy, which has other characters from the anime series. Players can map out paths for LBXes by drawing lines on the touch screen and when you run into an enemy LBX the game switches to combat mode.

Either that or something’s wrong with the anime’s production…

How well is the series doing in Japan? I’m enjoying W a lot and found it to better than the first one, but I saw lower scores on Japanese sites. They are also leaving the Vita and going 3DS only, right?

Yes, Wars is for 3DS only…
But I don’t know about W low scores, what could have happened?

      • Pedro Furtado

The scores I saw were in a website called wazap, not sure on how representative they are. Famitsu scores are good though

W got low scored because the game was plagued with bugs at launch, half-assed the dungeons, didn’t have as much content as BOOST, and the framerate was abysmal at times. There was also some general boycotting thanks to Level-5 going overboard on the updated rereleases and a few people still pissed off over Gundam AGE.

I liked W more for the improvements it did make, especially for the combat, but there’s no way I can’t say the original is better when W performs as terribly as it does in battle.

      • Pedro Furtado

So that was the problem? So I guess everything is already fixed or it’s because I’m playing the Vita version, but it runs smoothly. Indeed the dungeons are a bit “half-assed”, but the dungeons on the first game were just standard RPG fare with lots of pointless running around, which is both boring and expensive for the developers, on my opnion, so I would rather have the quick fix dungeons of W, but I can see why people would despise it. Good thing I got it on PS Plus and not when it launched.

Were the battle bugs related to outsourcing? I saw the makers of Star Ocean were involved and don’t remember their name on the first game.

I liked the Gundam Age anime but the game felt pretty bad, probably because they just “pallete swapped” Danball Senki…

        • Will Jay

Things were generally fixed, there’s a few minor bugs left, but most of the really bad ones were patched out. The only one I still think is in is sometimes on stages with low gravity enemies will rarely just sort of hang in mid-air when you try to use an Attack Function on them, and their hitboxes get extremely screwed up until you try using an Attack Function again which unhangs them.

But personally I couldn’t stand the framerate at times, especially when I played the PSP version. The Vita version is notably better, and apparently the 3DS version runs as well as it, but it still feels somewhat sluggish with the framerate compared to the first game to me.

          • Pedro Furtado

I’ve had some bugs with rifles and chou hissatsu functions, but nothing that actually freezed. Out of curiosity, did you beat all the rankings? I find the post game a bit boring and repetitive, but I kinda want all the trophies…

The delay may be beneficial depending on which games release that week. Maybe it could take advantage of the ‘PokeSales’ momentum.

  • Will Jay

I’m kind of expecting this to screw them over sales wise, releasing after Pokemon instead of before, but maybe not.

At this point I’m just itching for them to release a trailer already.

Moved from 2 weeks after monhun and 2 weeks before pokemon to just 2 weeks after pokemon…
“improving quality” my ass… more like Having mercy on themselves…@[email protected]
