With Monster Hunter 4’s release closing in for next week, on September 14 in Japan, Nintendo will be doing what is likely to be the last Monster Hunter 4-themed Nintendo Direct before the game comes out. Last week, Nintendo and Capcom also teased the announcement of a new collaboration between the two, which may be revealed on Sunday.

Monster Hunter 4 Direct — 8 pm JST / 4 am PST / 1 pm CEST

Nintendo and Capcom have not shared any details regarding what will be revealed at the Monster Hunter 4 Direct, but during the event that was held between the two companies last week, they stated that they will be announcing a collaboration between the two in a “Direct!” fashion, prior to the game’s release. Anyone want to take a guess at what the collaboration may be?

Kawaii Kirin Hunter in Smash Bros?

More Monster Hunter games for Nintendo consoles. Duh! It could be more ports like Monster Hunter 2G for Wii U and the Portable series for 3DS. It could even be Monster Hunter 4G or 5 already. And if it’s not Monster Hunter related, then other Capcom titles for Nintendo consoles. I don’t know, all I want is an English release (I don’t say Western because I’m Australian xD).

I’m not expecting an NA announcement seeing that these MH4 Directs have been for Japan only but I will watch to see what news they have in store.

Edit: I’m praying for an eShop demo announcement ; ; I…I just want to feel that Insect Staff.

    Monster Hunter 4 P(okemon) P(artner)

Using the Pokemon Bank, a Player can transfer select Pokemon from Pokemon X&Y into their copy of Monster Hunter to act as a replacement for the normal in-game companions. It will only be a very select few Pokemon lines that can be used, largely based on popularity (such as the Pikachu line) but they will each have unique attacks and behavior.

Well a man can dream right?

My guess is: A Wii U communication app for video chatting with people who you’re playing Monster Hunter online with. That’s exactly the sort of theoretically interesting feature that Nintendo would cook up and then nobody would ever use.

Second guess: Nintendo does a big Pokemon event every summer on Japanese trains, right? Children get little stamp books and are tasked with traveling around to different stations to collect all the pokemon stamps? I read an article about that once. What if Nintendo used all that infrastructure to do another one of those, except Monster Hunter themed? “Buy Monster Hunter, and collect all the monster stamps for a bonus piece of DLC!”.

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

The WiiU already has one of those.

  • British_Otaku

They already had one of these didn’t they?
It was a Ace Attorney + Monster Hunter one before but it felt like most of the focus was on Monster Hunter 4… The sales numbers are gonna be huge with all of the promotion.

  • ronin4life

I heard somewhere that a sign of the collab is in the software… of course, that could have been a wierd translation.

If it was a good clue, then I have a big guess: Capcom is making the next Zelda.

  • SetzerGabbiani

Select bipedal fighting/element type Pokemon can replace your felyne companions. That kind of crossover would really make for some ridiculous sales numbers.

    A new Rockman for 3DS.

    • British_Otaku

That avatar gives your post a humourous element which may or may not be intended. I think a 3DS Megaman is well overdue.

MMBN, Megaman Zero and Megaman ZX were some of the best action (RPGs) on the GBA and DS. I was set to get a 3DS for Megaman Legends 3, now it’s because of E.X Troopers (don’t worry, I got a Japanese system). I would still like more Megaman.
