Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers Includes Pegasus And Bronze Figures In Limited Edition

By Eugene . September 11, 2013 . 4:32pm

Namco Bandai have announced that players who pick up the limited edition version of the Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers fighting game will have something worth remembering, with the inclusion of the Saint Seiya Pegusus Cloth and Bronze figurines.

The figurines include two different sets of armor (unbroken and broken) for both figures and four separate heads for Bronze, with both figurines being fully posable. Bronze himself is about 18cm tall. The limited edition will also include a download code that lets players download the same original color edition skin into the game.

Saint Seiya Brave Soldiers will bring some 50 different Saints covering various arcs of the story such as the Athena and Hades arcs as chapters for players to fight through.

The limited edition will run buyers 13,480 yen (About $140) and is slated to be out on the 17th of October in Japan for the Sony PlayStation 3.

I used to have SS figures like this as a kid. They were badass.

    • Rafael Monteiro

Probably not the same, those are Cloth Myth, the most badass figures from Saint Seiya ever

      And they’re quite expensive

    • Kevin Schwarz

They still are! Only difference, they were cheaper like 30-ish years ago, now you only get them through a 140 bucks bundle ><

  • SlickRoach

I want this game but I know nothing of the universe and its characters. With Jojo ASB I was at least at Part 2. But from what I hear this game has better odds of localization though.

    • Rafael Monteiro

You can watch the anime by downloading somewhere. It’s a pretty good fighting cartoon, in the likes of DBZ

      • L Lawliet

        Yeah….as DBZ, It’s a Shonen.

      • Koibito888

Yeah, it actually has even more fighting than DBZ.

    • Lynx

IT is being localized. Albeit digital only for the US and Canada.

      • Kevin Schwarz

Well ALL of Latin Americas will get a retail game, and I bet the nibelung ring the limited edition will be epic there! You can import it from any country, it’s cheaper than import it directly from Japan, I guess.

    • Koibito888

It is being localized in america as a digital copy. You should definitely get the game, it should be pretty true to the story and you should definitely read the series. If you are from America you should really just get the digital version, the only reason we are even getting a release is to test the waters and the only way we’re gonna prove we like Saint Seiya over here is to give it sales over here and imports will not count to them. Then we’ll probably get more and if a second game comes out (which if it sells well enough we will) then we could end up with physical copies here, maybe even more. This would be great for you if you happen to get into the series by then lol, of course all this assuming you are from the US lol.

  • leingod

Nice… hope the western versions (or at least one) has a limited edition.

    • Mr_SP

It does. At least, in Australia. However, it *doubles* the price of the game. That is not a cheap figure.

  • César H. Sandoval

“Bronze’s” name is Seiya, you may wanna edit that detail.

  • SigmaNHK

Myth Cloth figure in the limited edition? This is pretty much guaranteed to sell out now.

  • MikeTxn

The armor sure is shiny and nice, but I prefer the Bandai figures made in the 90′s. Edit: That, or nostalgia googles clouds my vision; even though I couldn’t put back the golden clothes in their original stand.

Also, there’s no word if they’ll put the Asgard warriors in the game? I actually want to play as Alberich.

    • Mr_SP

They’ve only announced 28 thus far, out of the 50 they said would be. (Though Sagittarius Seiya and such probably counts as extra slots.) I don’t know about Asgard, but there’s definitely space for a bunch of others, even if they include Marin, Shaina and Sanctuary Battle’s DLC characters.

      • leingod

Are the three versions of the bronze saints included in that 28 count? You know… regular Seiya, Saggitarius Seiya, etc.?

        • Mr_SP

If we take Sanctuary Battle as a base, then Bronze, broken cloth and no cloth Seiya would be costumes of a single character, while Sagittarius Seiya would be a different character, thanks to having different special attacks.

      • Kevin Schwarz

They should add non canonic characters in the games, like Artemis, Apollo, Lucifer and his fallen angels, you know, people from the movies… then WE ALL will be happier!

        • Aoshi00

But they are gods from the movies though.. w/ Asgard being part of the TV series despite not based on the manga, they could make it an arc in the game like Poseidon, you defeat each God Warrior one by one and then defeat Hilda w/ the Odin Cloth :) Maybe they would save it on the next game if not this one..

          • Kevin Schwarz

I seriously doubt it and that pains me because though not canon, the Asgard arc was so well made that all the western fans are screaming for it. Sadly, the ones on charge keep on saying “no.”

          • Aoshi00

I know, looks like they would just stick w/ Sanctuary, Poseidon, & Hades, we could hope, like Poseidon finally in a game now. Asgard was beautiful since the original anime design were all by Araki Shingo/Himeno Michi..

        • Koibito888

Except at the very least Artemis is canon now, she appeared in Next Dimension (albeit with a different appearance than the movie) but yeah. Apollo is supposed to be in too sometime so they are canon lol.

      • Koibito888

        5 Bronze Saints
12 Gold Saints (13 most likely with ‘Gemini ???’ being a separate character)
        7 Marine Generals
3 Seiya, Shiryu, Hyoga, in Gold cloths
1 Shion (recently confirmed all of the revived Gold Saints turned Specters but it’s not known if the rest are just skins).

So yeah, 28 but most likely Poseidon and Hades will be playable, they just aren’t confirmed. So they got over 20-22 characters to show still since they said it’d be over 50, not just 50.

Specifically they said no Asgard stuff in this game but there would probably be minimum of 3 Silvers (max 5), 1 Tethys (hopefully), 3 Judges, 2 more with Ikki and Shun in Gold cloths assuming Seiya isn’t the only one that warrants a separate character slot, 2 with thanatos and hypnos, 5 God Cloths (if they are not just costumes), Maybe even Possessed Shun, and like the 6 Specters that were important? I’d rather literally all of those over God Warriors.

        • Mr_SP

Assuming that they’re using Sanctuary Battle’s assets, it shouldn’t be too hard to add the DLC characters (who don’t fit as Marine or Hades characters), Unicorn Jabu, and Odin Robe Seiya. Also, don’t forget Libra Dohko, who is both Sanctuary Battle’s DLC, and part of the Hades chapter, so I think he’s an easy one.

          • Koibito888

I would assume they are using Sanctuary Battle like you said. They already confirmed Dohko though. I do hope for secondary Bronze Saints honestly (Jabu and the rest) but I don’t know bout Odin Seiya. Maybe, just maybe, but it’s also possible not since they are so adamant about no Asgard arc stuff.

    • leingod

I guess it’s nostalgia at work. Personally, I remember the 90s figures to be particularly messy to play with and ugly.

      • Aoshi00

Yeah, I still have a few of the old figures from the 80s including the God Warriors from Asgard, they were pretty stiff compared to the newer and more detailed Cloth Myth ones made in the last several years which I have collected a few as well. And now they’re improving on the Cloth Myth EX ver. The old figures had really good box arts though and Jpn ones made by Bandai were quite rare :) But w/ better ones now, the old collectibles showed their age.. I wanted to collect all the EX gold saints, but too expensive..

Still old figures’ Cloth material were all metal (not much plastic), so they were very well made and durable, at least for the time. I remember my older chogoukin toys like Valkyrie from Macross was all metal too, you could really feel the weight, fully transformable and all..

    • Aoshi00

I still have the Alberich old figure too, Meme, Bud, Siegfried, etc (in my closet).. The box arts for the old figures were really nice, but the newer Cloth Myths and EX ver are much more detailed, mobile, and better made, and closer to the look of the anime. I used to go crazy on the old figures in toy shops when I was a kid.. the genuine Jpn ones w/ the Bandai “mouse seal sticker” cost a lot back then lol..

Yeah, would be nice if they include God Warriors from Asgard as well. Though I’m alrdy satisfied w/ all the Marina Generals showing up alrdy. but if you check out the Cloth Myths now (I bought several like regular Milo, Aphrodite, Poseidon, Thetis, EX Saga, Mu, & Aiolia), there’s really no comparison, the old ones were like dolls lol..

I’m just importing the regular Jpn ver, limited edition too expensive.. the manga color Seiya figure is nice but I’ll pass..

    • Kevin Schwarz

Supposedly non “Kanon” arc, you know, Japanese, they want to preserver all pure and stuff…

      • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

Non Kanon? But he was awesome. He was a lot better than his brother XD

    • Koibito888

I think the line of figures this is part of (the EX line, the successor of the figures Bandai made back then) are much better. The designs are better, more of the armor is metal, the figures are more posable with the armor on, and they are just better. Personally I’ll pass on original color version of Seiya as I have the regular version.

There is word on it, in interview they straight up just say “no, we’re focusing on the original manga first”. Which I’m glad for honestly. As cool as that arc was, it’s all about time and space to make the game and over 50 was the limit apparently and I’d be pissed if I heard someone important to the story was cut out for the God Warriors. I’d much rather make sure that all of the canon characters were in the game before anything else then letting the next game take care of extra stuff. Though personally I’d much rather even Next Dimension stuff before anything non-canon.

  • Rafael Monteiro

I’m not sure the text is correct. The name of the character is Seiya, he’s a Bronze Saint, a knight with the bronze armor of Pegasus, sometimes reffered as Pegasus’ Seiya. He also gives the name of the anime, Saint Seiya.

    • Koibito888

Unless you’re Siliconera where his name is “Bronze” XD

  • Jorge H. Chernicharo

I’m not sure if I got the news right…
But I thought that the collector’s edition containing the cloth myth was already in pre-order for a few months…

  • Homero21

May I know if this game will be 2 player offline????
