Back at E3, Tecmo Koei announced they would localize Toukiden, a PlayStation Vita hunting game imbued with Japanese mythology. The game was supposed to come out sometime this year, but Tecmo Koei announced today Toukiden: The Age of Demons is an early 2014 title.

Players fight oni in Toukiden and can enlist help from the souls of Japanese historical figures (this is a Koei game after all). Toukiden has six different and a couple of NPC characters designed by Atelier Ayesha artist Hidari.

    • Curan_Altea

What’re you talking about? There’s nothing coming out over the next few mo-
      /BlazBlue CP
      /Not even in December yet

      • TheExile285

You forgot Ys Celceta! For shame!

        • Curan_Altea

I only listed some and focused on the more major ones.
That’ll actually be my first YS game. Really liked the demo.

  • Ryujin

Heh, just when I express my desire to play this as soon as possible, it gets pushed back. Hopefully it’s worth the wait.

  • ronin4life

Sounds awesome… if the psp version came over I would probably check it out.
Not that I am not considering it now, but until I decide to get a Vita that can’t really happen.

  • Oh darn it was one of the few Vita games I was looking forward to this year. Oh well, I can wait.

  • Warboss Aohd

will i be able to call on Yasuke?

  • KuroNathan

hmmm, well this means my vita monster hunting would be evenly spaced out.

GE 2, followed by Toukiden, and then Soul Sacrifice Delta. Convenient!

  • cloudcaelum

Really wonder somethings about this game.

Is this like MH? I mean collect material for weapon/armor, grow up farm etc..?

    • Brandonmkii

      For the most part, yes.

  • Was wondering about that, no issue

  • leingod

Dammit. Oh well, at least its getting localized…

  • Learii

oh gosh I can’t believe what I just read thank you koei

  • Christopher Nunes

Aw… I wanted to play this game as possible as possible. Though I can wait a bit and I’ll definitely have enough save to buy it.

And I’m curious who is the story? Is it kinda like God Eaters with how the story went? Character development for the NPCs you team up, backstories on the world’s lore and characters, and do you bond with the story NPCs for special events?

It would be cool if they added Dual Attacks with the NPCs you team up with or other players, that would be awesome to see!

  • Shady Shariest

It seriously seems that the start of the next year will be a giant Vita-gasm for the world… Along this some other nice titles like Disgaea 4: Return of the Sardine Serenade :3

  • ekibyougami

Okay, so it’s pushed back… Welp, moar time for me to play my Japanese version, I guess… (Still at 60% trophies… and I’m still far from collecting all 200 Mitamas ;A;)

  • Silent

Thank you Tecmo Koei for not forgetting us.

  • Aristides

As long as it’s not canceled I certainly don’t mind. I’m looking forward to this, perhaps it could launch with the VTV in NA that would be pretty awesome. And please TK, more marketing on your games!
