This Comical JRPG Makes Has Suikoden Inspired Character Recruitment

Citizens of Earth for Eden Industries draws on the humor of games like Earthbound and Little King’s Story for it’s plot. Instead of a brooding warrior, you are the Vice President of Earth and have regular people in your party. You know like a Used Car Salesman and a Barista that serves as a buffer.

Every character in Citizens of Earth is recruitable, even your Mom. When characters aren’t fighting monsters with you they work their regular job in town. Characters are more effective in battle and in town when you level them up, so there’s a little bit of a town building mechanic in Citizens of Earth too. It’s a quirky concept and Siliconera saw the game earlier this year.

Citizens of Earth opened a Kickstarter page and $15 Canadian dollars gets you a copy of the game. $25 includes beta access and an exclusive prologue story. Eden Industries’ goal is to raise $100,000, but if they can stretch to $160,000 they will release the game for Wii U. $170,000 brings Citizens of Earth to 3DS, $250,000 makes it a PS4 game, and the $260,000 target is for a VIta port.

    Lord, I miss Suikoden. Glad to hear games like this bear its spirit at these time and age.

  • Arcana Wiz

    Suikoden was excellent, it would be so good if more games tried to pick it recruitment plus base building and try to innovate, so i hope this game reach sucess……. and a vita port.

    Don’t wave around word Suikoden so casually… ;_;

      Exactly kinda annoyes me that all this kickstarter games are like, we are inspired by Suikoden, I feel offended Suikoden probably being one of my top 3 rpgs series when I then watch the video and I see no inspiration from it, just having a bunch of characters doesn’t mean its Suikoden like.

    Hey, that feature of having party members fight weak enemies.
    Ever since playing Persona 3, I’ve wished most RPGs would have something like this.
    And is this only for PC right now?

    “Who wants to join my team?”
    “Your Mom!!!”

    Proof that “your mom” can be used positive.

    Eh? Only 3 people in battle?
    If you’re going to give us a lot of playable characters and require us to level them, at least give us a decent number of slots for our party.
