Hero Bank RPG’s Opening Movie Tells Us Money Comes From Robots

By Eugene . September 30, 2013 . 2:36pm

Kaito Gosho, the hero of Sega’s upcoming “battle-life RPG,” Hero Bank, has it tough. With a one billion yen debt to pay off, he’s forced to enter the world of Hero Battle—a cyber sport that pits Kaito against various foes—to earn cash.

Every punch Gosho lands earns him a little dosh, with special attacks and more flashy fights driving the crowd wild and garnering more. Kinda like real life—you’ve got to spend money to earn money. Earning or possibly outright buying new characters for Gosho to control with his Hero Gear gives him more and better options during a fight.

That daunting task doesn’t seem to get him down though, with his cheery and manly outlook in Sega’s release of the game’s opening movie above. And with every attack he lands ending in a gigantic Japanese yen sign, we’re now confident to say that yes, money does grow from robots.

Hero Bank will be released in Spring 2014 for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan. Sega have delayed the game from its initial December release.

I wanna be excited for this but….. Sega USA…… and region locking…..

It kind of reminds of Mega Man Battle Network from a design standpoint.

The presentation looks a lot like Level 5′s Youkai Watch and Inazuma Eleven, but maybe a lot of games aim of that sort of look nowadays and I’m making an odd observation.

The opening transformation is cool and reminds me of “Jack in, Megaman!” in the Battle Network series. A good sign. The turn based system combined with movement and positions seems interesting (you can punish downed enemies and it has some MMBN/VC vibes maybe just because I like those a lot that’s the first thing I felt like mentioning), but I’ll like a hands on still.

I haven’t seen bowing treated as an attack since Beelzebub, I don’t mind more games making silly takes on the salaryman career and all.

That’s the opening sequence? I watched it earlier on the 3DS and was pretty hyped by the awesome song and Jellal look alike. I don’t care much for the big guy, but the guy with glasses and floppy sleeves is dope.

It was a VERY smart move to push the game back into next year, it would get slaughtered by MH, Pokemon, Gaist Crusher (it was releasing earlier and has an anime before it releases), One Piece, Toriko and so on.
