Pokémon X And Pokémon Y Patch For Lumiose City Bug Now Available

By Ishaan . October 25, 2013 . 8:30am

As previously reported, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y have a rather serious bug that may make the game unresponsive if you save in certain sections of Lumiose City. Luckily, a patch for this problem is available now in both North America and Europe.

One can download the patch from the Nintendo eShop. It will prevent the occurrence of the save bug, and in the event that you’ve already experienced the bug, will allow you to resume playing as normal by fixing your save file.

Additionally, the patch also “prevents errors which sometimes occur when using certain functions of the GTS (a feature allowing players all around the world to exchange Pokémon)”.

    Nice =)

    About time.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

I think I’m one of the chosen ones cause I’m pretty sure I saved and reloaded just fine in the infected areas. It was right outside the hair styling place.

Well, I think the point is that most people don’t wanna find out the hard way. ;)
Enjoy your super-copy of Pokemon, sir!

      • FitzpatrickPhillips

        I have the legendary copy!

        • Kurizu208

I believe the bug mostly happens next to people on the street with text bubbles based on some testimonials.

    • konsama

I did save lots of times in the south boulevard too before the bug was known, and my game never broke.

I hope they make a patch for the GTS where players CAN’T ask for pokemon with impossible levels like a Level 1 Xerneas or a Level 20 Haunter or even ask for Pokemons who aren’t even released yet (Hoopa, etc.) or accessible at this time. It just pisses me off when I search for Pokemons and the list is flooded with these sort of stuff :(

    • Guest

I hope that doesn’t happen because I am one of those putting them up on GTS

    • Greg

All I want is a ditto, but more than 75% of the players on GTS are asking for Yveltals/Xerneas in return -_-

      • Rob Wu

Ditto’s really easy to obtain if you head over the the pokemon Village.

      • Kurizu208

You can catch them in game as well as friend safari. Friend safari is the best option imo.

        • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

only if your friend have Normal typing and Ditto is one of the Pokemon. It also cant be changed.

      • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

Go to the Pokemon Village south of 8th gym town

      • Zaku

Use wonder trade, that way I got a Japanese Ditto(Metamon) in less than 12 trades :P

        • Greg

Yeah it was a Japanese Ditto I was for actually. I will try wonder trade again and hope for the best.

    • Rohan Viajar

what I do is before I click “search” I click the option to “not include special pokemon” (phrasing may not be entirely correct on my part)

removes those pesky xerneas and ylvetal people

      • Enzo

But what about players that ask for Pokemon like Johto Starters and other Pokemon inaccessible until Pokemon Bank comes around?

        • Rohan Viajar

          yeah, those players… *sigh*
now I wish they, the devs, could do something about them.

    • Sardorim

Indeed, they really should do this.

I also wish they did something about the jerks that sneak in an Everstone on to a Karrablast.

      Those monsters.

      • Enzo

I actually just realized I sometimes don’t read what items they hold. Good thing it never happened to me yet.

    • Hunts Rattata

You can catch wild Haunter at level 19 in HGSS (and many other Pokemon at levels they also shouldn’t exist at), though, and it’s not without precedent for a Legendary Pokemon to eventually be attainable at level 1. There really just needs to be a better way of filtering the list.

  • Learii

I wish there an option where you can ask for nature and ability on GTS so you can trade for it other then keep using GTS to trade the same pokemon over and over again

  • JustThisOne

Oh hey! A GTS error fix! I didn’t expect that to be patched too, but I’m glad it was. :> They worked fast for this patch.

  • Barrylocke89

We just saw one of the positives and negatives of the 3DS being able to roll out patches. Had this sort of major glitch happened back in the GBA days, Nintendo would have been able to do much besides possibly stop production and make a new version of the game with the bugs fixed. But on the other hand, perhaps QA for games was able to be more lax to meet deadlines because patching is possible.

    • Hunts Rattata

The Berry Glitch in Ruby and Sapphire, while not totally comparable, gives an idea of how a patch might be distributed without an Internet connection.

Plus, we’d get infinite Shiny Bunnelbys.

“…a patch for this problem is available now in both North America and Europe.”

Not like this affects me but did the Japanese just get screwed or did they never have this bug to begin with?

  • Lemski07

yup the gts error is rampant, I think its happening if the pokemon on the gts is already traded and you select it for trading which isnt there anymore because its already traded.

    • Kurizu208

The bug was mostly with if you had filter conditions (only those who want pokemon you have) selected.
