Take A Look At Super Mario 3D World’s 4-Player Multiplayer

By Ishaan . October 25, 2013 . 1:19pm

Nintendo have showcased a couple of levels from Super Mario 3D World, with Nintendo of America staff taking them on in a 4-player multiplayer session. The gameplay video below begins with the first stage in the game, demonstrating a variety of power-ups that you’ll come across, and also shows how the game blends 2D and 3D Mario play-styles.

The video then shows the game’s world map and the staff tackle a different stage from World 3, which is Ice-themed. Super Mario 3D World will be available this fall.

*Sigh* Yet another game I wish was released already. Oh well, Nov. 22nd will get here soon enough.

Why is Toad one of the four playable characters? NO ONE likes Toad. At least there won’t be two Toads like in previous Mario games.

It’s a callback to Super Mario Bros 2, which had the same playable characters, even down to Toad’s coloring.

even down to the Picking up and throwing of some enemies.

Hey! Toad was my favorite character in Super Mario Kart and he was a great driver!!!

    Again with the flagpoles. ;)

Definitely looks cool, but the true test of a Mario game is level design. I see they’re going with the star coin thing again, hopefully they do a better job of hiding star coins than they’ve done in other recent Mario games. I loathe having to search every random corner of every level just to reach the hardest levels. You know a well hidden secret from a badly hidden secret when, upon discovering it, you think ‘Wow, cool!’ instead of ‘Ugh, really?’ Some of the secrets in SMBU and SLU are more like, there’s no logic to finding this and you just have to ground pound every floor and try to walk into every wall.

I like the camera, and the graphics are beautiful. Hopefully they do more with the 3d-ness than they do in Super Mario 3d Land, so you’re not just walking left to right front to back in most levels and really have interesting areas to explore like in 64 and Galaxy.

So far from the recent trailers/game-play the game is looking pretty cool.
Can’t wait to get my hands on it :)

Nintendo Minute? But it lasted like seven… :P

Anyway, that looks FUN! Love the 2D portraits, neat detail.
    This can’t come soon enough.

So from what I see, this will be another dream, right?

    Why is it so slow?

The multiplayer reminds me of Sonic the Hedgehog 2
