Dragon Age: Inquisition Looks Gorgeous In This Leaked Gameplay Video

By Ishaan . November 12, 2013 . 9:00am

At the Digiexpo in Finland, Electronic Arts and BioWare showed off 30 minutes of gameplay footage from Dragon Age: Inquisition, the next Dragon Age title currently in development for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

The video, captured by one of the attendees in the crowd with a camera, highlights player choices by showing off one example involving the fate of a village under attack. BioWare say that the choice made by the player in the gameplay footage will have consequences later on in the game.

Dragon Age: Inquisition has been in development for close to three years now. Back when the game was announced, BioWare stated that they were “poring over player feedback” based on past games and attempting to create a game where choices matter.

Dragon Age: Inquisition was initially slated for release this year, but has been pushed to 2014. The game doesn’t have a release date yet, though.

Looks absolutely stunning. It is a fantastic time to be a fan of dark fantasy games. This, The Witcher 3, Dark Souls II, Lords of Shadow 2 and now the new Lord of the Rings game.

  • Wait what

As a huge fan of Bioware games (including Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 3), I really hope this game blows everything and everyone out of the water. I hope it lives up to all it’s promises. Mostly because I want to play a great game, but also to shut people up.

    • Xaltmas

      Mass Effect 3 still sucked.

My Shepard was supposed to live happily-ever-after with Tali, but nooooo.

      • Kaetsu

Mass Effect 3 is still my second favourite in the franchise right behind the phenomenal Mass Effect 1. I know people will yell at me but I didn’t think the second game was that great.

        • mirumu

I tend to agree. The second game was just a remake of Seven Samurai set in space.

        • Xaltmas

I adored Mass Effect 2. Easily one of my favorite games this console generation.

I also enjoyed Mass Effect 3, despite my ragging on it. The ending just really bummed me out.

      • Wait what

Sad endings are good. Give me bittersweet over generic happy anyday.

    • AnimusVox

I love Bioware also, was never much of a Bethesda fan personally.

    • Masa

you liked DA2? wow, i guess your one of the 5 that did.
How could anyone like that piece of garbage.

  • WolfDuo

Really liked Origin. It’s one of the few Bioware games that I’d completed more than once… Hope this can top it.

  • FlyingPony

Can the player dodge enemies attack in the game? Any more variation in melee attack animation (not just slash left, right and uppercut combo) and more magic attack/weapon?

I like the graphic, the red tree monster design, but still on the fence about the gameplay and fighting mechanic.

    • Zarathos No Daimaōh

you can see the player clearly rolling evade the dragon’s fire breath

  • Syed Sameer Rahman

This will inadvertently become the peeking window for people looking forward to the next Mass Effect game.

  • MrRobbyM

Looks pretty good. Water looks a little wonky but it’s still in pre-alpha after all.

  • Kornelious

Wow, this looks like it will be right up there with games like Skyrim and Dragons Dogma :)

  • Mar Mar

Now that’s a real “like-a-boss” walk animation. Love it =D

  • Still won’t get this day 1 like previous titles

  • MrJechgo

    Of course BioWare, leave the Wii U alone after releasing Mass Effect 3… -_-;

    • Kaetsu

Releasing Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U was silly. They should have put the Mass Effect Collection on it.

      • MrJechgo

Actually, I thought that BioWare would have followed on for Wii U games, like “Ok, we’ve released Mass Effect 3. Now let’s release the next game that also comes out on PS3 and X360.”
Geez… devs should just TRY to port their games on Wii U BEFORE ditching it.

    • hazelnut1112

It’s not that, no future EA games will come out on Wii U because of a dispute they had. It was all because Nintendo stood their ground and EA acted like a spoiled brat.

      • MrJechgo

        Huh? You… just lost me ^^;
Care to remind me what happened exactly? I think I missed that news during one of Siliconera’s numerous article floods.

        • hazelnut1112

A while when the Wii U announced at E3 you remember how much of a partnership EA was going to have with Nintendo by releasing Battlefield, Mass Effect, Crysis and so on in the Wii U?
The reason they backed away was because EA was trying to push their online Origin service and the Origin store on the Wii U and they said they could release that instead of their eShop. Nintendo quickly refused the idea and EA pretty much canned all games they were working on the system, including Crysis 3 which was complete. So screw EA for being such a crap company.

  • 3PointDecoupage

    Is that Varric I sees?

    • AnimusVox

Yeah it’s him. Looks different and I didn’t think it was him at first but read in a game informer interview they said it’s him.

  • harmonyworld

oh man, I might….might, get this 1st day
Looks good, looks like it plays better, and decisions seem better and more in depth.

  • The hype is there, hopefully Bioware gives us more information every once in a while to keep it up till the release!

Also seeing Varric and Cassandra back and playable fills me with an unreasonable amount of pleasure~

I’m fine with the graphics, it’s not hard to look better than DA2 and that’s all I want, lol. The gameplay looks cool, albeit kinda slow and wonky at times, but I’m glad they’re going even more action-y, appreciate my action rpg’s, while also giving a cool tactical mode, loving the mage spells!

  • Loli Summoner

    Looks amazing.

  • Masa

Still unsure about the game as i adored Origins but loathed DA2.
Seeming as most of the fanbase felt this way though i’ll just wait to see what they think of the game before i make a purchase.

  • Mordina

I used to be a big Dragon Age fan but DA2 was a little dissapointing, but still enjoyable. I will get this on day one for sure. I just hope they stop with their ass decisions like having characters like the horrible Talis and Diana Allers types in the games. Both were horrible and just broke my immersion.

    • Somber

lol, Talis was just a DLC character. Why do u prefer one bad character over plenty other good people.

      • Mordina

Just saying, I get pretty annoyed by that. But it won’t ruin my enjoyment too much since I ignore them in the game anyway.

  • hazelnut1112

I’m surprised after so much crap Bioware has released after DA 2 and so on, people still trust these people. Im just saying, I wouldn’t touch anything Dragon Age related after 2.

  • Warboss Aohd

while i have high hopez fer dis, gonna watch da beginning o’ a Let’s Play fer it before decidin’ whether or not ta get it.

  • Pockystix

still waiting to see if the class system will be interesting again.

    Miss the Arcane Warrior fun

oh, and the good story writing from the first one

  • Impressionnant

    Awful animations.
