PlayStation 4 Launch Title Deals: Knack, Killzone, Need for Speed Rivals & More

Killzone-shadow-fall-ps4-deal

If you don’t live under a rock, you probably know the PlayStation 4 console releases this Friday. (Anyone lining up to buy the console on Day One?) If you’re planning to grab a PS4, there are a few options for you to start building your gaming library at discount.

At GameStop, there’s a 15% off coupon which works on basically most released titles. Given quite a number of PlayStation 4 launch titles are already available before the console’s release date, this coupon will take 15% off MSRP. (The code expires tomorrow at midnight.) My personal choices would be Battlefield 4 and LEGO: Marvel Super Heroes (although honestly I’d just play those on the PC because it’s cheaper). While Knack looks interesting, reviews seems pretty ‘meh’ so far.

Another method to grab PS4 games for cheap is patronizing the Buy Two, Get One Free PS4 sale over at Target. There are only 4 titles in stock as of current writing (Ghosts, Killzone, Knack, and Just Dance 2014), but we suspect Target may have more back in stock before the promotion ends on Saturday.  This (almost) BOGO game deal also applies to all other platforms, so you can grab Pokemon X & Y + another 3DS title for the price of two.

Both the above deals are US-only, so apologies in advance if you’re elsewhere. In other deal news, there are lots of pre-owned console games up for grabs at GameFly, plus PC download titles. Those looking at the PlayStation 4 launch title Contrast should also consider the PC price ($11.25) vs. spending whatever higher price it’ll be on the PlayStation 4.

im a little surprised how universally bad the reviews for knack are. the only 2 titles i had any interest in were killzone and knack and it seems like they arent living up to the hype.

    • eilegz

killzone have its own sets of bad reviews too, we all knew that launch title and games its lackluster in both consoles…

      never buy at launch

    • Billy Kostyra
      • Muffum

A single positive review doesn’t really negate the fact that reviews of the game are primarily middling.

    • Ferrick

funny, after watching/reading through most bad reviews about knack, it seems that it only consists of needless ranting

    • mojack411

Like other people have said, I feel like launch titles always come under this kind of intense fire. Look at ZombiU when the WiiU came out. Preliminary reviews were pretty much all negative but the vast majority of people that actually got to play it loved the game and it’s return to survival horror. Even though its impossible if you’re buying one of these games at launch, it would probably be good to wait for normal player reviews to come out first to compare to the professional ones. If they don’t match up, then you have a decision to make.

edit: Whoa ok, I didn’t realize just how low the scores were. I was expecting something in the 6-7/10 or 3/5 ranges but 4-5/10 and 2/5 is a little concerning. Well, we shall see I suppose.

I’m using gift cards so won’t do me any good where I’m going

  • Aoshi00

No more standing on line till midnight during the cold winter for me (I did that for Kinect at the NYC Toysrus lol, some purple beanies, umbrellas, and T-shirts were nice)..

I pre-ordered the XB1 w/ free 2-day shipping from Amazon.. I’m wondering if I could just go into a BB and pick one up on Friday night after work so I could play on the weekend..

Target has a good B2G1 free w/ a wide range of combination, not just limited to PS4 launch titles.. too bad I alrdy got Zelda HD and Wonderful 101.. and it’s only until 11/16. If they do the same thing for XB1 for the following week, I would get AC4 BF, Ryse, and Dead Rising 3.. For now I’m only getting AC4 & DR3 w/ 20% off from BB..

Best Buy has 20% off for all new games w/ Gamers Club Unlocked. Plus you get $25 in credit if you buy 3 PS4 games but not a good selection..

I don’t know why they are doing the launch before a weekday instead of before a weekend.. it would be nice to get it on a Fri night and play well into the weekend..

    • Ferrick

quick question, do you have amazon prime on ?

      • Aoshi00

yeah, I have Amazon Prime for 2-day free shipping on anything.. used to be no sales tax ordering from Amz for my state , since July there’s a 7% tax.. so that’s like $35 more on the console :(..

        • Ferrick

hmm, if you use amaprime, it will probably arrive at launch day (this is the case for most of the things i preorder using amaprime)

          • Aoshi00

I ordered a lot of movies and games from Amz, I just wanna make sure I get to play the new system on the weekend instead of getting it on Mon if anything happens lol.. if it’s available on BB’s floor, I would just pick it up from the store on Fri night after work.. before I wouldn’t mind waiting since Amz would saves me 7% sales tax, which is a lot for a console.

          • Ferrick

well you could ask amazon through their online chat system if it will arrive at release day or not (because my ps4 order was also announced to arrive at launch day when i used amaprime)

          • Aoshi00

presumably it would.. I’m just saying if there’s any unforeseen delay for whatever reason, dlvy might not make it until Mon. since it costs the same buying from either Amz or picking up from BB, I would rather pick it up from the store myself if it’s available, but I’m not going to the launch at midnight since I have work the next day, plus it’s cold :(

          • Ferrick

yeah but picking up from store is another problem by itself too, especially if the stock ran out (check beforehand)

  • SerendipityX

I want Pokemon Y, Naruto full burst and I still can’t figure out a third game for the b2g1 at Target.

    • http://www.dealzon.com/ Dealzon

haha..funny enough a lot of people run into that problem. honestly if you can’t find another title to buy then you’re not really “saving money” pass for now maybe?

    • Rytan

You could always pick a random game, then take it somewhere else to get money back for it.

  • http://www.dealzon.com/ Dealzon

Side note: looks like more titles are in-stock again at Target for the B2GO free offer. FIFA 14, BF4, and Madden 25 are now in-stock online.

  • lordsofskulls

You forgot to mention the best buy promotion 47.99 per new title on pretty much all ps4 games and rewards certificates

  • Steven Higgins

I’m going to wait on this, there are no launch titles that interest me. in fact there are only two PS4 titles that I really want and neither of them have a solid release date yet.

  • Carlos Luis Ayala

Target has NBA 2K 14 and Madden 25 I saw them yesterday.

    • http://www.dealzon.com/ Dealzon

Yeah only Madden 25 is in stock right now. Some of these deals are online only or in-store only. Depends on stock in location/region I think.

  • http://so-very.me/ Jenny

    I wish I could afford a PS4… I want Knack and Killzone!!

  • Jeffrey Thrash

Looks like I’ll be picking up nicer-looking PS4 ports for now. I’ve never liked Killzone and, even before looking at the reviews, I knew Knack was too concerned about celebrating platforming’s past for a launch title that is supposed to show us the future.

  • Hector Velar

I think Super Nintendo still holds the best launch titles yet it remains unrivaled, I guess video game companies just don’t care about it their goals have shifted and they just don’t care to have a good line up. Will be good to say you know what, lets start releasing good games… lets focus on that for a while again rather that rush things out and focus less on making fast cash. I dont know about you guys I think the Turbo/SNES/SGenesis times was the golden age of video gaming, their focus was on competing with each other thus they were releasing great games back to back(and gamers win). Now gaming has turned just like politics, there is a republican and a democrat and nothing else and this companies know that their fans are going to buy their product no matter what so competition is not as great so there is no reason why to take their time and release good titles, or hope to have a great release launch, it is just all mediocre crap(gamers lose). I was not impressed that Assassins Creed for the PS3 and the Xbox 360 scored better than PS4 and they looked identical(not much reason to buy next gen console, right?)! Dark times indeed.
