Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds, a 2D beat ‘em up with characters from 5pb’s fighting game series, will head to Vita on February 13, 2014.  Famitsu reports the downloadable version will cost 1,260 yen, which is about $12.50 here. 5pb also plans to release a retail version with bonuses like a code to download Kurisu and a collectable book.

    Just before Valentine’s Day.
I’m gonna be spending that day with this game alright.

Kinda strange that the XBLA version costs $10 (or wherever price in other countries), but hey, at least they’re doing both digital/retail, and on a portable (for a decent price), hope it comes around stateside too (if possible).

That’s because the original XBLA version costs 1260 yen in Japan as well, this’d probably be $10 here. This version also includes a new free character, doesn’t it?

      • NeoStrayCat

Well, I hope so if they add this new char., but having Kurisu behind a paywall again is rather dull, but hey, at least the retail version will have her as a DL code. (Hope the retail release doesn’t cost too much though.)

        • 324234

? The retail price is 5000yen ‘MSRP’, 4500 from HMV. The game + Makise is something like 1900 yen, but comparing it to the US release you’d be paying $30 extra for presumably a physical copy (hopefully not just a code), a book, a soundtrack and an exclusive costume.

If they didn’t wall off Kurisu again the price of the base game would increase, they supposedly cut her out to drop the game from $15 to $10.

Well, it was 15 if you counted the DLC.

I am really really hoping that this makes it stateside as maybe a digital download. I want to play as Kurisu, damnit!

  • Kayseur

Well, if the retail version goes at full price, I’ll have a hard choice choosing between the two. The price difference is quite big. At least there’s still time to decide.

Girls, you’re looking at the wrong direction.
The exit is —-> that way.

    Need western release.

If this game already made it to the west on 360 the developers should release it on Vita, the localization is already done after all.
