Strider PS3 And PS4 Comparison Screens, But Only PS3 Has The Original Strider

By Spencer . November 21, 2013 . 2:35am

Capcom has a Strider reboot and it’s in development for current generation and next generation consoles. Here’s a glance at the PS3 and PS4 versions.

PlayStation 3 (3,990 yen in stores or on PSN)

strider_ps4
PlayStation 4 (2,000 yen PSN only)

The PlayStation 4 version runs at 60 frames per second in 1080p, but I think Strider fans might still opt for the PlayStation 3 release since it includes a bonus video plus a code to download the PsOne game Strider 1 & 2 from the PlayStation Store.

Capcom also has an e-Capcom limited edition that includes the PS3 game, a code to download Strider 1 & 2, a special theme, a visual chronicle illustration book, three disc soundtrack CD, instruction card & sticker set, mask, crest, clear file, spacer, and a limited edition box for 12,000 yen ($120).

Strider comes out for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 on February 22, 2014. Capcom will also release the game for Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC in 2014 too.

Just because you add bloom to one version it doesn’t automatically make it next gen.

  • Atmey

For the original original Strider: get it on sega genesis.

    • GuyAlpha

      Strider is an arcade original.

  • Ryudo9

Bloom vs no bloom. Man Bloom is sure worth 400$

    • Fub Frank

Who said it was? No one is buying PS4 for Strider.

      • SprintsMcGee

        I guess I’m no one =/

  • Crevox

    Get hype for bloom

    • xXDGFXx

Well, it IS Unreal Engine. God forbid a developer learn to not to bloom the hell out of a game when using that engine…

  • icecoffemix

It has higher resolution and it’s cheaper, I see no reason not to buy the better version if you have PS4.

    • Tu’Ron Wolf Jamison

Its only cheaper because it is the version that DOESNT have extra content. For those who want those nostalgic memories (or never got the chance to play the old school Strider games and only know him from Marvel Vs Capcom and such) then the PS3 version is definitely for them.

      • icecoffemix

So you prefer to pay twice the price for those? Each to their own I guess. *shrug*

  • d3v

I’m assuming that Strider 1 and 2 on the PS3 are simply the PS1 versions that were released in 1999.

  • Göran Isacson

Man I hope these special offers apply to the EU/US version as well. I would snap that sucker up quicker than Hiryu cuts down his enemies… though I fear it’s likely they’ll only release a digital version here, without the juicy bonuses…

  • Armane

I think Strider fans don’t care for this reboot. But maybe that’s just me.

    • Kris

I think the hesitation comes from the fact that Double Helix is an unproven developer (even though Killer Instinct is getting a pretty positive response) and the art direction is so… dull.

I enjoyed what I played, however, so I’m hoping they’ll add a bit more color into the game as it progresses. Everything has just been gray and brown so far.

      • 60hz

not unproven, they have just proven to be full of SUCK… gi joe rise of the cobra anyone…

        • JustThisOne

I’d agree, but it looks like they’re finding some kind of redemption with this game and Killer Instinct. I went nuts with digging up articles and whatnot after hearing of the Strider remake, and I read somewhere that they’ve had a huge staff overhaul after SH: Homecoming.

Perhaps I’ll reconfirm this another time.

  • fairysun

While I wanted a strider game, is it too much if I asked the remake/sequel of this Strider game too?

    • Kris

The new one actually has a lot in common with the NES one, what with the interconnecting paths and all.

    • wyrdwad

Hear hear! NES Strider is best Strider.

  • JustThisOne

Oh jeez, I was on the fence about getting this game before, because of the whole Double Helix dealio. But now that it includes the older games, I’m pretty much sold. At least if this new game doesn’t live up to my hype – and I’m sincerely hoping it’ll be awesome – then I can fall back on to the older games a nice safety net. :>

  • LustEnvy

What people are not realizing, is that the Ps4 version runs at 1080p/60, while current gen will run at 720p/30fps. That’s a MASSIVE difference. You’re either blind or have no eyes if you can’t tell the difference in real time. Screenshots and online videos can’t depict the differences.
