Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will allow for custom soundtracks, series creator Hideo Kojima revealed via Twitter this week. The feature will allow you to import music into the game and play it via the walkman that Snake carries with him.

As you can see in the image above, Kojima demonstrated the feature using the Xbox 360 version of the game. Kojima says his development environment for checking up on Ground Zeroes involves a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and tablet.

Metal Gear Solid v: Ground Zeroes will be available in spring 2014 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

i wonder how this will work on next-gen

  • Brandon001

Damn, playing a game you created, while snacking? Koji has it made.

  • You know what music I’ll play in the game while checking out the missions?

    XD hahahahahhahaha.

Every dramatic moment, enhanced with a “Roff-tjoff-tjoff-tjoff-tjoff-tjoff.”

      My God. You’re brilliant.

      • XD that would already break the serious mood of the game. But really though, I wouldn’t put the music…. or would I? >:D hahahahah

  • Oh good, I’ll be putting this on my MGS5 custom soundtrack:

i give my life not for honor but for you

Not that new. They already did stuff like this on several original Xbox games.

  • This always seemed like a logical extension of the iPod/Walkman mechanic. Surprised it took this long to implement, honestly.

    Madoka Magica snack?

      Hope I didn’t turn into Kojima Mk.2

I would never replace the soundtrack of the MGS game with something else. Screw custom soundtracks, I’m listening to the original sound track.

    • Aoshi00

Yeah I would always use the original soundtrack too for my first playthru to get the true experience, but I respect kojima for liking Pacific rim, it was an awesome Guillermo Del toro movie :) he said as a Jpn person, u just have to see such a tribute.. Love the jaeger Mechs and kaiju.. As a person from Hong Kong it was double the pleasure :)

      First time, definitely.

After multiple times, it’s fun to put different music to a game to see how it changes the experiences. Usually to make it more hilarious, like some random classical music to an intense boss fight.

  • KingGunblader

Yes. YES. So in favour of this. I can’t wait wait to spend 2 hours putting together the perfect soundtrack, like I do with every game that supports this feature.

Holy crap Kojima has the same idea as me! Pacific Rim OST rocks!
