Now that both the PS4 and Xbox One are released, game prices will start to fluctuate as the 8th Gen console release dates are so close to holiday shopping seasons in the US. Walmart launched a “Pre-Black Friday Event” sale which is knocking prices down on the next gen console titles at 18% off (price slashed by $11 from MSRP).

Select Xbox One exclusive titles such as Ryse: Son of Rome and Dead Rising 3 can be had for $49.00 flat vs $59.99 and PS4 exclusives such as Knack and Killzone: Shadow Fall are also similarly discounted.  Beyond these exclusives, a range of 8th Gen titles are on sale, including recent releases such as Need for Speed: Rivals and Battlefield 4.

Preorder games do not qualify for this sale, but below we list what is in stock as of 7PM Pacific. The sale ends November 27, being a Pre-Black Friday deal and all. Being Walmart, these deals are of course US-only.

Sheesh, I know Black Friday is a popular sales period, but it’s essentially a waste of money to buy most games at full price anymore, even if it is just an $11 difference.

I know… game prices just dropped so fast these days in 1-2 months, sometimes as fast as 1-2 weeks it becomes at least $10-20 cheaper, not to mention become like $20 in 3 months *.*; but for some games I just wanna play right away..

Actually Amazon just matched this Walmart deal, DR3, Ryse, Forza 5, etc are $49 on Amz right now. Good thing I bought from BestBuy w/ 20% off ($48) plus getting $25 back from buying 3 games.. and using some giftcards and reward certs.. I only picked up AC4 BF, DR3 and Ryse won’t arrive till next week :(.. So Best Buy’s new Gamers Club unlocked benefit, 20% off for all new games/pre-orders is really not that bad (before it was $10-20 back)..

I have to say after setting up my XB1 last night, I missed my 360 and PS3 lol.. the mandatory install for disc games take a long time… have to admit it’s cool to turn on the Bone by your voice and it signs you in as soon as you step in front of the TV.. Crossplatform games have diff. sets of achievements too.. I was hoping to start AC4 where I left off from 360 (half way thru) but now need to start all over again :(

about xbone…you really didnt saw that coming? really? didn’t you read all the warnings people put out there about xbone? I do agree with you thou very poor next gen console game launch. Really no reason to rush buy any of the next gen consoles yet.

        • Aoshi00

I knew about the PS4, didn’t know XB1 would be the same.. if all games need to have such big installs, 500Gb would be filled pretty soon. other than that it’s actually a great system, very quiet even I’ve been playing 2 days straight, and the system’s very cool because of the vents on all side. I heard the PS4 is a bit warmer since it’s more compact. Also I like switching btwn Netflix and the game on the fly..

There’s definitely no rush to get next gen (I still have a huge backlog of PS3/360 games + still many new releases), or any new consoles at launch for that matter. I regret getting the Wii U last year (or the 3DS too), it’s not until now good games start coming. For now I do enjoy the XB1 games, like Dead Rising 3, Ryse, Crimson Dragon, & AC4 BF.. I would get D4 & Quantum Break later. For PS4 I only want Knack so I would wait till later. As long as you have games you want to play to justify the purchase of a new system.. otherwise AC4, MGS5 Ground zero, even Titanfall could still be played on the 360. many big titles would continue to be on last gen for the next 2 years or so.. playing games like AC4 on the 360/PS3 is perfectly fine.. and still look amazing..

Also for some reason PS4/XB1 still can’t play 3D blu-rays yet.. guess need to wait till updates later..

seems funny to me that ps3 and 360 assassin creed 4 got ranked higer on ign than on ps4 and xbone, and when compared they looked identical. Also xbone requires you gold subscription to use netflix and hulu…really. I honestly dont think there was a need for a new gen. look at all the great games coming out for 360 and ps3. I think they should have waited a bit longer for more must buy titles instead of even unfinished games like ki3!

          • Aoshi00

sure PS3/360 would still be supported in the near future and there’d be no shortage of good games.. I’m not sure if next gen is “needed”, but last gen had been out for 8 yrs now. I don’t know why last gen of AC4 would be ranked higher. They practically look and play the same except the weather, particle effects, lighting, etc are better on next gen which are not that important (and one could use the touchscreen to scroll and point on a map on PS4). GTA5 looked incredible anyway. But since I got XB1 alrdy, might as well get it on next gen.. I think I might get MGS5 Ground Zero on 360 if next gen don’t have retail copies. Any system launch is not great, just look at the Wii U, 3DS, or PS3, it takes at least one year for great exclusives to come out. I got PS3 at launch for $600 and didn’t really play it much till MGS4. I bought many years of Gold for pretty cheap before, so I’m all set, I use PS Plus as well.

But yeah, since next gen can’t play 3D blu-rays for the time being, would still have to use PS3 for that.. I guess I could’ve waited (damn the temptation for getting new gadgets), but for now just XB1 for me.. just no games on PS4 for me yet, maybe until FF15.

my friend you forget SNES launch was the best ever we had it good back then.

          • Aoshi00

yes, it was fun playing Super Mario World for months.. I was playing Super Saiya Legend on the Super Famicom as well. In general it takes at least a year or so to have many good games, I got my PS2 when FFX came out in a year. So if you are in no rush, it’s best to wait for more games, cheaper and new system models (3DS dropped $80 in 6 months, Wii U dropped $50 & you get a free Zelda game w/ bundle). I really haven’t touched my Wii U that much other than Mario (have Wonderful 101 & Zelda in drawer, would get new Cat Mario when I have time). Back then it was simple, a couple games for Super Famicom or Genesis. Now you have 2 handhelds, PS3/360, Wii U, Xbox One/PS4. I could stop buying games any time and still won’t be able to finish what I have :(.. I guess it’s just me not having as much time to play these days.. I guess right now one next gen is more than enough.. w/ PS3/360 still having so many games.
