You Can Make Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd Easier Or Tougher

By Eugene . December 16, 2013 . 3:30pm

Great news for those who enjoy rhythm games—Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd will have the ability to adjust the difficulty of the games’ rhythm mashing via variable options. You’ll do this by selecting from several variables before a stage.

Variables are divided into Help and Challenge items. You can combine up to three different variables together for the game, although you can’t mix both Help and Challenge items to get the sort of challenge you prefer. If you make the game harder, you also get bonus or less Diva points at the end of the match.

Help Items:

Play Assist: Will allow you to finish the song, but your score will always be marked down lower.

Recovery: Once a match, your Song Energy gauge can be refilled, saving you from failure.

Safety Judge: A smidge more time is given for button presses to be considered as Cool, Good or OK.

Double Killer: Those who have one-track minds like me no longer have to worry about simultaneous button presses

Star Changer: And if you really hate having to use the touch screen controls, you can use this to turn Stars—which require you to flick the screen of the Vita – into a L/R button operation instead. This is going into my list and staying there.

Challenge Items:

Shy Target: Like Shyguys, but worse. The indicator on which button to press next will be slower in coming, so you’d best be paying some serious attention.

S: Cool Master: Only Cools are considered worthy! Anything less will lower your Song Energy and lead you to death faster.

High Speed: I wonder how this will be like combined with Shy Target. The speed of the icons goes up.

Micro Notes: Miniaturization has come to Hatsune Miku! Notes and target moments become super tiny.

As you can see in the comparison show, the bottom, Challenge Item equipped version has Micro and Panic items equipped, which make them just fly in from wherever the hell these notes like.

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd is slated for release on March 6th in Japan.

    *challenge accepted* (̿▀̿̿Ĺ̯̿̿▀̿ ̿)̄

  • FetusZero

I already play Extend and F with the last Challenge item, helps boost up the DIVA points. Glad to see they’ll make a return and even more so since you can combine them, which means even more DIVA points hopefully :]

Wait so is this the vita version that’s coming to the US or is that another one?

    • Erikdayo

This is the sequel game. Not yet confirmed to be coming to the US.

      • FetusZero

I do expect them to bring F 2nd over, but who knows how long it’ll take. Could be a mere 2-3 months just as it could be a year later.. just as it could never come in the worst case scenario.

Which is why I pre-ordered the LE for me and the SE for my friend, she doesn’t want to wait either :p but I don’t mind double dipping to support its localization.

        • Erikdayo

I pre-ordered the Vita version of 2nd. Will download the PS3 version from the Japanese PSN store. And buy them again if they get a US release. :) Same thing I did/am doing for the PDf/F.

You can make it tougher…. my thumb ache the moment i heard this.. but my mind smiled. I can see myself putting some extra challenges in the extreme to spice things up even more ^.^

This game will destroy my PS Vita’s buttons.
    Better get that warranty ready….

Help item and Challenge item was already in PDF…

    • Risingrose

Help Items were back in Project Diva 2nd and Challenge Items were back in Project Diva Extend. But this time, you can choose multiple Help Items to make it way easier with stacking penalties or choose multiple Challenge Items to make it incredibly difficult but with greater rewards.

I am curious about panic mode lol

    “Star Changer”

Awesome! Would’ve been more awesome if it was an actual in game option instead.

L/R for scratch notes sounds good and practical. No need to take of your thumbs on outside the face button area.

    “Double Killer”

Fantastic for handicaps and I am not being sarcastic!

    • Kayseur

I totally agree with you for Star Changer, it’s exactly what I wanted since they’ve added touch controls — a way to turn it off. I’m not really playing for scoring so I’m not too bothered by the fact that it’s an help item, although I would’ve liked a proper option as well, but that’s cool.

(I would’ve missed the information were it not for your comment, I should read the articles better.)

  • PLEASE release this on Vita in the US :)

  • Er…challenge AND help items were available before. XD Anyways, can’t wait to play this.

    • Risingrose

Yes, but this time you can choose multiple challenge items or multiple help items. You can choose up to a combination of 3 items, but I don’t think you can mix challenge and help items together.

For example: You can play one song with a combination of Shy Target, High Speed, and Panic challenge items.
