I was singing the digimon english dub opening song the other day
can’t believe I still remembered it

    • FlyingPony

Japanese OP, ‘Butterfly’ is much better.. The English dub OP was like “Digimon.. Digital Monster eh eh.” repeat it for one and half minutes.

Pokemon done a better English OP.. for the first season. The next one and all after that.. was forgettable.

      • Renaldi Saputra

        Butter-Fly FTW!!!
        Wada Kouji FTW!!!

  • OathkeeperSoraXIII

Awesome can’t wait to see more info on it

  • PotatoPower

what is the point in announcing a game so early lol

    • InWaves257

Try asking Square Enix or Japan Studio’s that question

    • Renaldi Saputra

      they’ve always been like that
like what they did with re:digitize decode’s announcement

    • DyLaN

I dunno, like hyping it up to get ppl attention?

  • Michael Martin

Yet another Digimon game that will never leave Japan. Sigh.

    • Raze

Well…At least this time you can import and play it without buying new system…

      • Nanaki

I literally blinked and saw your Likes increase from 30 to 150, and it’s still climbing.
        ..for good reason!

        • Raze

I’m just as suprised as you are dude…

      • M’iau M’iaut

        Da botz love yaz Raze.

      • Scissors

Not saying this doesn’t deserve upvotes because it does cause it’s true, but does anyone know why some Siliconera comments get randomly super high or super low ratings? I’ve noticed this happen a couple times before, Is it just that some random comments get hundred of votes or is there some sort of glitch or something.

        • M’iau M’iaut

Spam bot programmed to search for some word or phrase most likely.

          • InfectedAI

Hm, maybe the word import? Nothing else really stands out.

          • transferstudentx

import import import import … nope nothing that comment deserve the likes anyway so its all good

      • Arcana Wiz

Sees Raze likes…. I think at least this time that is on the Vita we can import it without having to buy a new system…..

        Well bot, i’m here ^.^

      • wat_wat

  • Stephen

Well, at least the Vita is region free, unlike the 3DS I guess. >_>

Also, Digimon Story? So it’s a Vita version of the DS games that were known as “Digimon World DS”? Ah, at least we’ll see updates sprites or models or something.

    • Renaldi Saputra

maybe no, since this is Vita.. they’ll focus on 3D features also
and this is a long project, so hopefully we can expect a good game from it

  • icecoffemix

    “Training RPG”

Hope it’s not something like Digimon Championship.

    • zuuum

“Training RPG” sounds more like Digimon world (or Digimon World Re:Digitize) to me!!!

      • icecoffemix

It’s wriggle words, let’s just wait till there are more info though.

    • Stephen

With nothing but the title to go off of, I’d assume it is related to the DS “Digimon World” games in someway. 6 party members, 3 in the attacking slots at a time and a farm to raise them on…

      • icecoffemix

If it’s really like the DS Digimon (DQ/Pokemon styled) then it’s a first for Sony platform. I kinda doubt it though.

        • Stephen

Revisiting this post, it looks like aesthetically, the still has familiar elements from the story games of the past.

    • Renaldi Saputra

no, it’s a big project anyways, Championship was just a minor digimon game

  • Ben Green

I’m buying a Vita just for this game tbh.

  • TheExile285

Oh crap, Jump Festa is this weekend. That means J-Stars Versus, Freedom Wars and info on this game. YESSSSSS! :D

    • Arcana Wiz

and tales of, dont forget of tales.

  • Abysswalker90

PSV YESSSS!!!! THANK YOU, I can play this!!!!

  • InfectedAI

That’s cool, but I’m still hoping the 3DS one gets localized at some point. It probably won’t, but it looks so fun. :( Hopefully this one is also localized for all the Vita players.

    • Renaldi Saputra

well, digimon had filled and completed their “Digimon World” trademark registering in US.. hopefully it will be real

  • makubexnas

AAAARRGHH!!!! namco you traitor, where’s my 3DS digimon?!

    • JonathanisPrimus

How did they betray anyone when that game’s a port of a PSP title?

      • Charmchar

        That wonderful cover art (ノ≧┏Д┓≦)ノ

      • makubexnas

well i just frustrated for not getting any localize digimon game for so long. it just that i really hope to get an english version digimon game on a popular platform……

      • Renaldi Saputra

it isn’t just as a port, it had twice contents from the PSP and had fixed some bad system from PSP

    • RichyGaming

This game soooo looks like a game that came from Atlus. I’m thinking about Shin Megami Tensei again… lol

      • Renaldi Saputra

Yasuda Suzuhito is the character designer

        • Cheesy04

yep he is, the guy who designed Devil Survivor characters

    • D. Collins

Ohhhhhh that is some nice cover art!

    • Renaldi Saputra

hopefully they don’t forget this one.. We’ve done so much struggles about the petition anw

    • TalesOfBS

You should take a look at the list of Namco games released on 3DS if you need a answer. It show they clearly don’t want to give serious support to the system. Well, they did the same with the DS/Wii where most of namco games were just some cheap shovelware while only a few titles that were developed by other studios and just published by namco were actually good.
Maybe they too want nintendo out of the consoles business? dunno but I’m starting to get worried about Namco helping on Smash Bros. They could really screw up the game on purpose if that is what they want.

  • PS360HD2

Finally, i wonder if it’ll be like Digimon World, loved those games growing up as a kid, Ugh 2015 though

    • Renaldi Saputra

at least it’s indeed a big project and hopefully we can expect a good game from the aforementioned long project

    • It will likely be turn based. Kind of obvious.
I do hope for a 3DS port and english release though.

  • Arcana Wiz

I wonder if THIS time we will get it….. *sigh* i think it’s best having to prepare to import.

  • Shady Shariest

    *Starts beatboxing intro musics*

  • Vernauth

digimon story? hope its not first person

  • tubers

    Quite surprised.

I thought the 3DS port was already a sign for Digimon to leave Sony handhelds.

Well, the 3DS could probably get a port if the new PSV Digimon isn’t pushing VITA muscle

  • Digimon Story SHINKAAA~!

  • Ethan_Twain

Everyone in this thread is missing the real news here: We have confirmed that the Playstation Vita will continue to exist as a video game platform that hosts original and third party video games in 2015.

That’s not something to take for granted. I didn’t take that for granted.

    • In Japan at least, more and more developers have been seeing the benefit of making new games for that system–they can’t linger on PSP forever. (I’m still amazed at just how big the PSP section of video game stores are in Japan… Impressive lifespan there!)
Western developers are comparatively much more reluctant to go near the Vita, sadly. It’s an amazing piece of technology; I’m kind of hoping that Sony’s recent indie push will eventually lead to new, unique games being designed to work specifically for it. The big-name companies don’t want to risk making new, unique AAA titles for it when they know they can’t score a huge profit off it. Ultimately, the Vita probably won’t get more “Grand Theft Autos”, but I’ll certainly be happy with more “Tearaways”.
(Quotations marking metaphors, just to be clear…)

      • Xaxal_Ravenguard

Funny, because Sony did mention a short time ago that they were in talks with some AAA companies and a number may have stuff in the works for the 3.

(As a bit of a pipe dream/doom scenario, imagine the fallout if GTA VI was Vita exclusive [You know, because of VI? As in VIta!?])

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

Vita is doing fine in Japan so that’s not surprising.

      • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

uh no. 2 million in 2 years is not fine for a portable.

        • TalesOfBS

Dunno why people are down voting you. That is very true.
Of course if it was the 3DS selling only 2 millions there would be 100+ up votes.

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

They want the games industry to die a slow painful death.

        • Xaxal_Ravenguard

2 million is fine if we talk the Japanese market by itself for one platform. That’s easily bigger than the combined sales of the Dreamcast and Xbox in Japan combined.

    • tubers

      So true.

I’d be content if most of these JPN games get localized.

I won’t even bother thinking about the Western support nor the lack of global VITA sales if ever than happens.

      • FlyingPony

True that. There are plenty of PSP’s game in Japan (and soon the Vita as well ), just it never make it into English audience.

If Xseed help us to solve even more of that issue, we’ll have tons of games to play for Vita.

To name a few good PSP games that didn’t make it into US:
        1. Frontier gate
        2. Phantasy Star Portable 2
        3. Final Fantasy Type 0
        4. hack//Link
        5. Valkyria Chronicles 3
        6. God Eater 2
        7. Lord of Apocalypse

        • Renaldi Saputra

but for digimon, I doubt XSeed will help.. since digimon is Namdai’s exclusive game, almost no 3rd party can handle it

          • FlyingPony

            Couldn’t hurt to try..

Anyway, I’m talking in general, about having Xseeds at our side can help US PsVita’s owner to have their Vita purchase a worthy.

    • Herok♞

Not to be negative but this is for Japan where the psp is alive to this day….

  • MaximDualBlade

Does it exist a Digimon game that plays similarly like Pokemon in the sense of gotta catch them all? Because I read “training RPG” and inmediately though it would be a good idea, because who has seen Digimon and never had the idea “hey it would be cool to be play as a chosen child and collect as many digimon as posible”?

I also would like the game to have a serious story like the anime series and have a decent amount of secret dark and light digimon bosses.

Asking for a localization seems meaningless, even in a time where we know since anouncement day that Tales of Zestiria is coming overseas. It would be cool though.

    • Cheesy04

Have you played Digimon World 1? I’m pretty it’d be like that.

      • WhyWai

I think Digimon World 3 / Digimon 2003 is more similar to Pokemon. I hope they make one like that!

        • chibiwall

Has anyone played digimon world 2? That was an amazing game: 3 vs 3, tournaments, the 99 floors of the infinity tower (impossible tower, you can’t win it without cheats), you could catch all the digimons, fusions… everything. It was more pokemon of pokemon itself

        • Renaldi Saputra

too bad DMW 3 had quite a lot of flaws

      • MaximDualBlade

No I haven’t. To give you a reference, my last digimon game was a fighting game on the gameboy advance. A period where gaming news didn’t exist in my life, just gaming.

But life is everchanging, we are getting Jojo’s All Star Battle and I’m almost at part 6, so I will be ready when the game comes.

Meaning what exactly by that? That there are good surprises sometimes and I just hope the game to be fun for all players, even when there is a possibility of me not playing it ever.

    • Renaldi Saputra

traning RPG things are like DMW 1 and re:digitize
where you have to look for your digimon’s condition: training, hunger, bladder, sickness, etc

oh about the “Digimon World” trademark in US… it still exists and being registered.. so there’s hope

    • The closest to those “collecting” games you can get are the Digimon Story games on the DS. There, you can raise a party of (almost) as many Digimon as you want. However, Digimon has always focused more on the “training” than on the “collecting.”

      • Renaldi Saputra

if it’s collecting, and all digimon is included, how can you get more than 1000 digimon?

        • I’m not sure what you mean.

          • Renaldi Saputra

in pokemon main games, all pokemon is included.. meanwhile in digimon game like digimon story series, only 1/3 of total digimon was included. nah, if in a digimon game you can collect all digimon, well there’s more than 1000 digimon now

          • Who says you collect all the Digimon out there? I meant that in the Digimon Story, it’s easier to have a party formed from having evolved into all the Digimon in that particular game at least once. You don’t focus on one Digimon like in Digimon World 1 / Re:Digitize. Instead you focus on a team that you can put in boxes (or the Digimon Story equivalent of it) and take out however it suits you, which is more like Pokemon than DW1.

…This is all relative. I’m not saying DS is LIKE Pokemon, nor is it completely collecting. However, it is much more so than, say, 3 of the 4 Digimon World games.

          • Renaldi Saputra

yeah, i knew it, just wondering if Namdai would say about the game “all digimon is obtainable” then there’s more than 1000 digimon now

  • chibiwall

Digimon World 2003-2? You can do it!

  • sd28

honestly im surprised its vita only as the audience for these type of games is on 3ds so i expected a multi platform release either way i am glad its being made and can import it if necessary.

  • wat_wat

2015 is pretty far out there. Wonder if Vita can make it that long, lol.

    • DyLaN

In Japan the PSP is still somewhat alive so yes, it can.

  • cloudcaelum

Dam, please Localize this, i’m glad twice i bought Vita right now, damn!!!

Be like Digimon world 2 with more deep and quick, would be cool but np if like Digimon 1 too.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      it said “training RPG”
so maybe we gonna see another re:digitize-like system

  • Renaldi Saputra

    yeah man, vita!!!!
for this, if it didn’t get localized, I’ll kindly import :)

so the name is Digimon Story: Cyber Truth

  • Zangetsu777

HOLY SHIT!!!! I haven’t seen a Digimon game on a PS console since the “Digimon World” series.
If this is localized this will be a day 1 buy for me.

    • Renaldi Saputra

if it isn’t get localized, we can still import
      VITA FTW!!!!!

      • Zangetsu777

        LOL very true

    • DyLaN

Uh… Does the Adventure game count?

      • And the original Digimon World Re:Digitize… ^^;

      • Rayhan PromisedGallery

        that’s a portable/handheld game

  • HassanJamal

Finally, Digimon on my vita :’D

  • GameWinner

    I can’t contain my hype…
If this doesn’t come to America, I will import. T_T

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Another game we wont be getting… Yay.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      but we can import

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

        • Renaldi Saputra

well, since it’s a Vita game, we can import Japanese game..
          So, yeah…

          • Kaetsu

Sadly it’s not very helpful for those that don’t speak Japanese. I guess a game like Digimon wouldn’t be so bad but still an english version would be nice.

          • Renaldi Saputra

well, but some of digimon games didn’t need Japanese reading, just go through the game and you’l understand eventually. However, that only prevails on digimon’s minor game. So, for this, well, maybe we will really need to read, like re:digitize

Gematsu reported this game is entitled: Digimon Story: Cyber Truth

    • Renaldi Saputra

and in gematsu they mentioned to a pict, but there’s no pic explaining it

      • I am currently scouring 2ch in hopes of finding one. So far. no luck. :/

        • Renaldi Saputra

maybe we should wait until the day Namdai mentioned, and there will be scans

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    • Renaldi Saputra

it means a long project.. and will be a big digimon game for real

  • Syed Muzaffar Shah

  • cloudcaelum

Yea should be big project, need scans, trailer would be cool too :P

I dunno why but i sensed a Digimon game for Vita, and when i look site i just seen this new, I’m serious.

    • Cheesy04

I think it has to do with fans’ feedback regarding Re:Digitize Decode. Some fans mentioned that they expected the next Digimon game to be a PSV title since the original Re:Digitize was a PSP game.

  • Abysswalker90

Apparently, the game will be called – Digimon Story Cyber Truth.

  • sangokas kakarotas

I’m the only one who want rumble arena 3 ? (Sigh). And be more like rumble arena 1.

    • Renaldi Saputra

at least there’s still hope for Namdai making a fighting digimon game once again.. Only, that kind of game wasn’t Digimon’s major game..

FYI: rumble arena 1 was Tamers Battle Evolution and rumble arena 2 was Battle Chronicle in Japan

  • Earthjolly

Shit digimon still exist? No I’m serious I thought it died a while back

    • Renaldi Saputra

where you’ve been? It still exists from 1997 until now

  • I would say, this time we’ll at least be able to properly read the Kanji on the Vita screen. The resolution of Digimon Re: Digitize was a complete disaster.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      it was very small?
yeah, re:digitize use furigana, maybe that’s what u mean

      • Not exactly. Yes it has furigana support but the Kanji itself were just so blurry. Was a real pain to read them. Never experienced anything this bad on the 3DS again. Not even Monster Hunter…

  • Will Jay

Digimon Story? If that’s in katakana, then there were three games with that name on the DS already—Digimon Story, Story Sunburst/Moonlight, and Story Lost Evolution. We got the first two as Digimon World DS and World Dawn/Dusk. Which is kind of strange, I’d figure another game in the series would be on the 3DS.

Also those three games were all more traditional Pokemon style RPG’s, so something might not match up.

    • Renaldi Saputra

but I expect it would be different comparing to the 3 digimon story DS game

      • Hinataharem

Dogemon? No more Lord Drassil? XD

    • There’s also a Digimon Story Xros Wars Red & Blue, though they’re not exactly “original stories” unlike the others.

This recently surfaced lately. An info from 2ch, pertaining to a rumor that a 7th Digimon anime could announced alongside Digimon Story: Cyber Truths. It’s called “Digimon Versus”

Fellow Digimon fans, let’s just keep our fingers Xros-ed this is indeed true.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      yeah man.. new series… yeah
Wada Kouji is now back, hopefully he will sing the opening song again

  • I really need to learn japanese T_T

  • Sergio Briceño

It’s been a while since I have played an RPG in japanese. But I think I will give this a shot, they’re my childhood memories afterall…

  • JonathanisPrimus

I think this might be fake.

    • Renaldi Saputra

not fake.. some webs in Japan had confirmed it

      • JonathanisPrimus

Those websites are just reporting some 2ch posts, right? We haven’t seen a scan yet, when other V-JUMP stuff has scans floating around.

        • Renaldi Saputra

what I remember from 2ch is the rumour of new digimon anime called digimon versus.. not his one

  • Good Job Bandai.
    I mean

PSP was a very smart choice for Digimon right?

I’m questioning why the name for the DS series of games is being used for this. It’s disappointing and misleading. Shoulda stuck to the 3DS.
