The PC gamers’ annual ritual of buying up loads of games they’ll never play is rejuvenated again this winter with Steam’s Winter Sale. But the competition for gamers’ wallets is stronger than ever with more digital retailers in the mix. Both Amazon and UK’s Green Man Gaming also launched their respective Winter Sales today, with plenty of cheaper-than-Steam Store games to be had.

Both retailers are also offering monetary incentives in lieu of neato badges you can earn. Amazon will be giving $5 credit on ANY purchase during the Winter Sale, good towards 2014 Editor’s Pick games. Similarly, GMG is offering $0.10 in store credit. That doesn’t sound like much, but keep in mind it also applies to games already costing less than a dollar.

We’ll compile and add to this list as we crunch the numbers, but for now, here are some hot titles cheaper than Steam’s Winter/Holiday Sale:

Wow, just when I thought Tomb Raider couldn’t get any lower, that just happened. Glad I didn’t bite at $10 awhile back, $8 is too good to pass up. Definitive Edition be damned.

Yeah $8 is solid. Lowest price ever I believe.

I can’t imagine that this definitive edition will have better textures or anything than the PC version anyway.

      • Pyrotek85

I read that they’re increasing the character poly count and adding some additional effects, but I really doubt it’s anything you’d notice during actual play vs comparing screenshots. Especially if you’re already able to play with the settings maxed out.
