By Spencer . January 2, 2014 . 1:02am

Namco Bandai’s commercial for Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment has a little bit of footage from the PlayStation Vita game. The armor clad character that clashes with Kirito is Philia, a new character in the Hollow Area with an orange rep.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment comes out on April 24 in Japan.

    I hope it gets localized

    • Renaldi Saputra

very low for Namdai’s anime adaptation game especially not related to Jump series

      • landlock

Well if anything has a good chance it would be Sword Art Online I guess.

        • Renaldi Saputra

          nope I guess not

          • landlock

I would say it’s unlikely but they’ve done other anime games before well in Europe anyway like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and The Sky Crawlers

          • Renaldi Saputra

but this is Namco Bandai, they only localize jump related series if you’re asking for an anime adaptation game

          • landlock

Neither anime I mentioned is JUMP though….:)

          • Renaldi Saputra

and I’m here talking about Bandai Namco..

          • landlock

Both games were published by Namco bandai so it’s possible though unlikely.

          • Renaldi Saputra

FMA is a part of jump series IIRC

          • landlock

FMA was in the SquareEnix magazine, I believe.

          • Renaldi Saputra

I see.. well anw, even though, I didn’t say no chance at all.. only low percentage

          • landlock

            :)

          • RickyMack

FMA is part of Square Enix’s Shounen Gangan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Full_metal_alchemist magazine

        • DyLaN

I’d say AOT is more likely just cuz it isn’t NBGI.

          • landlock

Yep, I agree. Spike Chunsoft are western focused company as well.

      • Pdugna

Dunno I think SAO is doing some decent numbers on Toonami so it might have a chance at coming.

        • Renaldi Saputra

hmm but anime popularity doesn’t affect that much

          • Bigabu Beaze

If it been said once its been said a million times man. Gurren lagann was popular, Code Geass was popular, Gundam is/was popular. Do games of those animes come out here? Nope. I highly doubt a localization group from Namdai is counting all the comments and thumbs up for the “LOCALIZE THIS” comment. IF they were then Medabots would of had a better chance.

          • landlock

Gundam games came out for ages in the past when Gundam was at it’s height of popularity in America but it’s dropped now. It also depends on the type of game it is of course don’t know anything about the Gurren Lagan/Code Geass games.

          • Bigabu Beaze

Those Gundam games are handled by Koei IIRC. There are so many gundam games that didnt make it over here that arent Musou.

          • Pdugna

Musou games carrying the anime lincenses when we got One piece, Gundam and others in the past few years

          • Renaldi Saputra

we still got digimon game in 2008, but what the hell in 2010? we got nothing.. same like another games..
they mostly only care Jump series game I think (especially anime based game like DBZ, One Piece, etc) and Tales
although digimon is actually a V-Jump series :(

          • Lucky Dan

Correction some of the games did, Medabots did get localized, so did some Gundam games, there was one the PS3 that got localized and also a couple of Super Robot Wars on the GBA did. Even Danganronpa got the green light but that was after it was fan translated the sneaky company.

Gurren Lagann and Code Geas I wouldn’t expect sure, they were popular fan wise in the West but were their astronomical DVD sales compared to rest of the titles in the West? No cause most people who watched these anime actually downloaded the fan translation which in respect the “Western Companies” used these translations and sold them to the public, one company “MADMAN” in Australia actually admitted it, why do all the work when you can rip them off and change a few words?

IF they stop selling these Anime at silly prices like 30 bucks for 3 episodes which these Western Companies think it’s appropriate for and sold them at equivalent levels they would see a massive increase in sales but alas it will take a big step for that to happen.

          • Bigabu Beaze

Did SAO sell astronomically? Correction Dagan Ronpa was a game first before it was a anime and NISA probably green lit it due to 999′s success and its on the Vita. Why didnt NISA put both Dagan Ronpas on VITA like Japan did?

          • Lucky Dan

You’ve have to look that up yourself and ask other people why they didn’t put in both games, I know why but you’ll have to find out yourself. You should be able to work it out from the other comments I made.

          • Bigabu Beaze

Dont talk in riddles just tell me man.

          • Pdugna

Dunno it had million plus viewers on Toonami soo….we keep getting DBZ Bleach and Naruto games.

    • http://people.ign.com/rob1610 rob1610

So does every one else. And so should a million other titles. Excuse my language, but the Japanese are a bunch of lucky ****s.

    • Lucky Dan

If it doesn’t just wait for the current generation to pass, it will get localized by other means.

  • Prinnydoom
    • Shippoyasha

SAO for hotblooded action and waifus, Log Horizon for the husbandos and intellectual politics and strategy. 2014 will be great for MMO anime fans! Hopefully SAO S2 and Log Horizon gets their games too.

      • wererat42

SAO can keep its “waifus”. By the way, isn’t Kirito technically already married to Asuna?

        • Shippoyasha

Only in game. There are plenty of girls Kirito adventures with. Things are going to get more interesting game-wise when we get seasons 3, 4 and even 5 depending on how far the novels go.

Also, Kirito himself becomes a bit of a waifu later.

          • fyi1191

GGO Kirito > All female design in the series.

          • DyLaN

            Best waifu MC material? ;D

          • John Diamond

truth be told.. i don’t see the point of having a harem if you’re just gonna hook the main character up so early in the series

    • David García Abril

Now will see if the GGO arc is as good as fans claim it is.

I still have nightmares with the ALO arc…

      • DyLaN

It should be better provided tht it isn’t a botched adaptation. Def have less plot hex and more working together at the very least.

        • icecoffemix

Kirito is still SUPER AMAZING ULTRA HUMAN GARY SUE CURE CANCER though.

          • DyLaN

But Kayaba isn’t here to give him random power up. He still have to beat the enemy himself with Sinon help.

          • icecoffemix

That’s just one of his many deus ex.

          • natchu96

tbh the only reason they got out of this safely was because the game developers of GGO apparently watched Star Wars or something.

It’s an apt description of Kirito’s attitude towards problems. Instead of trying to get out of it alive dodging the bullet, so to speak, he runs head on and cuts them down :D

          • Lucky Dan

Kirito a Mary Sue in this arc, he got a gender change and plays a female

        • Pdugna

Does he lose his opness from switching games finally? I think i read that he does.

          • DyLaN

Depend on your def of OP, but his high speed is still there.

          • RickyMack

isn’t the speed due to his reaction time? which is one of the aspects of the nervegear and not necessarily a programmed stat a player could level up. the reason he was given the dual blade skill in SAO was because he had the greatest reaction time out of all players. so while OP, it’s not necessarily the same as just being a higher level.

      • Lucky Dan

Female Kirito = better than all the arcs all together, can’t wait for the massive waves of Doujins coming out for this arc !!!

  • Malon

    Time to impoooort

  • tonyp1987

I hope it comes West because I loved the anime and cant wait to watch season 3

    • Renaldi Saputra

the anime refers GGO and the continuity as season 2

  • cyberkinghardy

Why wait for localized version if you can get it in japanese? It’s not hard to do trial and error when playing jap games. And there will always be wiki’s and walkthroughs a month after release.

Also, if the SAO game for psp didn’t get a localized version? Why put your hopes up on this one?

    • Renaldi Saputra

      for PSP one it’s reasonable
      PSP is dead in US

    • DyLaN

Thing is, for those who play the game for the characters/plot/AU take on Aincrad arc want to know what going on. Granted, I can guess the context of it but I prefer to be able to read the text.

      • cyberkinghardy

I choose jap games for the gameplay. I’ll just repeat the game after i learn jap. That’s how i do it. I guess I can’t force others who like story than gameplay.

    • TheExile285

Because that is a lot of extra work. Trial and error can be frustrating with Japanese.

    • Lucky Dan

I shouldn’t be saying this but certain groups have localized other games that time has gone by, Valkyrie Chronicles 3 has been fan translated as well as numerous Tales games that hasn’t been release like the PSP Tales of Eternia for example.

They will translate it into English the fan groups but it will happen after a Console has died like the PSP and the Wii, you just have to be patient and wait for the generation to pass.

  • http://fr.twitch.tv/Nhatalya Aleksandrina

I really like Sword Art Online as a whole. Reminds me of a more modernized .hack//. Just wish there was more male characters instead of Kirito + his harem. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining. I’d just like more male characters in the series, but I’m not going to be disappointed if it doesn’t happen.

    • Lucky Dan

Klein was a more interesting character than Kirito, hell the rest of the cast is more interesting than Kirito like a typical JRPG, they make the main character bland as hell and make all the side characters interesting.

  • DyLaN

It says a lot when this screenshot is able to fool me into thinking its hand drawn animation at first glance. Also am I the only one who think the screenshot looks……. Uh lewd out of context?

So she have a history w/h a coffin PK guild (I forgot wht its called) member? Perhaps she murdered him?

    • icecoffemix

That’s just a CG, not ingame graphic.

      • DyLaN

I know. I’m just amazed tht it can fool me so well.

  • Original Sayin Prince

    Japan gets the best stuff

  • Tatsuya Fabre

Going to have to preorder this.

  • ZeroV3

Am i the only one who lost count on how many JRPG that required to be localized? T.T

  • TheExile285

Game should be title Waifu Art Online ;P

Also, I wonder if Namco will ever make SAO games based on ALfheim Online.

    • John Diamond

I hope not. alfhiem online was the worst part of the anime for me. It boasted about what? 6,8 races, barely showed any of them and kirito was too strong yet again

      • natchu96

He did nerf himself at the end at least.

Well, he reset his stats anyway. His reflexes are still godlike, but at least up until the end of Mother’s Rosario he’s technically only the SECOND fastest . . .

    • Servant BerserCAR

      Waifu Art Online. WAO.

      …..
      >_>
      <_<
Someone, create that game, please! (I hope it would be Atlus)

  • S- Class Wizard KaRamo

What i got from this is laughing coffin was tying to kill her, she end up killing one of them while tying to escape and became an orange player she felt bad about it so while she was running away she bumped in to Kirito and while still in her shocked mind she attacked him without thinning.

  • Raltrios

Laughing Coffin? Welp, guess we know why she’s an Orange, then. They’re probably using her or summat.

  • Aristides

Now all we need is a western release date :D

  • [S]unjΔy of Equestria

    Looks like a PSP game.

  • Valtiel Ikari

Not into SAO, but maybe could give the game a chance, looks interesting enough.
