Final Fantasy VII & Final Fantasy VIII on Sale for PC This Weekend

By Viet Do . January 11, 2014 . 11:00am

Square Enix’s plan of “toss all the old nostalgic classics back on Steam” is working out fairly well, as people are picking up Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII whenever they’re on sale. If you haven’t snagged either title yet, this weekend UK-based GMG has both titles on sale for up to 50% off. While Final Fantasy VII has been cheaper before (currently at $6 vs. the lowest historic low of $3), the newer re-released Final Fantasy VIII for PC (Steam key) is now at its lowest ever price of $8.03. (The 33% off works in Europe too for a price of 8.70€.)

Other deals of note this weekend include Dragon Age titles at GameFly, plus a couple of excellent 3DS titles for 25% off at Fry’s Electronics: Pokemon X, Pokemon Y, and Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. If you enjoyed Diablo 3 and you’re actually looking forward to the next installment, NewEgg is tossing a $5 pre-order bonus incentive for Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls. FPS fans that miss the Quake style gameplay of old will want to check out the Rekoil pre-order for only $7.87. If you’ve played the beta and enjoyed it, let us know in the comments!

    Very good gaem

    • Yep definitely not a bad port. They fixed that always-online “bug” too.

      I cut something into 2500 pieces and it just kept going (at 60fps)

        This quote should be put on Steam page for the game.

        Put this as a game review on Steam.
        I always laugh when I read game review on steam.

    it’s about time to pick it up.

    Man it’s a shame FFIX wasn’t on PC otherwise I might have bought 7 and 8. I’d prefer to have all three games on PS1 in my collection instead of split.

  • Sydney Losstarot

    I bought the pc version of both FF7 and FF8. I started playing FF8 and got put off by the music. Why did the music change to be so terrible in the pc version of FF8? Couldn’t they upgrade to orchestral music in it instead of downgrading to the terrible MIDI sounding music they have in it, or they could have just used the music from the PlayStation version.

    • Arrngrim

      Agreed, the music totally threw me and I’m curious to know why they couldn’t use the original. Licensing issues? Seems weird…

      • Just Tim

        @arrngrim:disqus Perhaps.

        @sydney_losstarot:disqus You mean, no “Eyes on Me” by Faye Wong?
