      • Slickyslacker

(Ssshhh. I’ve been posing as a baka gaijin all over the internet.)

    • Arcana Drill

Well you gotta a strong competitor… her creator .

      • transferstudentx

        her father ?

        • DragKudo

In an interview he said something along the lines that after finishing the game it felt like he was walking Lightning down the isle to get married. He viewed Lightning as a daughter.

      • AuraGuyChris

No, it’s her godfather…the overprotective Hironobu Sakaguchi!

    • LightningFarron19

      Hey, wait a minute….

You’re that guy on 4chan who is always posting that same wording! You know, whenever a FF13 or Lightning thread would pop up, there are those exact words!

      • Slickyslacker

Oh god, I had no idea that it had spread to 4chan. I saw the FF-exclusive meme somewhere else (in a stream chat IIRC), not the rectum of the internet.

  • OathkeeperSoraXIII

Really want this collectors edition. Mainly because I’m a sucker for art books so it’s slightly annoying that Europe doesn’t get this :( Looking forward to the game in English. Already played through the Japanese version and really enjoyed it so it’s going to be even more awesome to understand everything :)

    • Blerg

I’ve seen some of your vids, and I have a question about the battle themes,
Are they dependent on your outfit, region you’re in, who/what you’re fighting or is it random?

      • OathkeeperSoraXIII

No the costume you’re in doesn’t determine the battle theme. The victory fanfare changes based on your costume. So you’ll get the FF13 Victory fanfare if you finish the fight with Light in her GC outfit. or the FF7 one if you finish it the FF7 outfit, you get the point. Hope that answers your question

        • Blerg

It does a bit, I was asking because there’s one battle theme I don’t like hearing… at all… i just have to get used to it… or tune it out

  • gRiMmYdArK13

And here we are in Australia with just the standard edition.

    • Guest

        • Detrimont

it’s still limited edition, once they run out, there won’t be any more of them

          • gRiMmYdArK13

but a steelbook case? come one! give us at least an artbook or more DLC

  • Randgriz

Im ok with just the game, i dont need nick-knacks.. just want the game, please okay cool.

  • transferstudentx

we well give you this, this and this so PLEASE BUY OUR GAME were begging you here man, i even throw an extra shirt here take mine! lol dont get me wrong the CE is awesome deserve every penny they really outdone themselves on this CE just thought the video was kinda funny thats all

    • Herok♞

I really think that having the video that shows an unboxing is very helpful because it lets people see what they would be getting and it lets unsure people see everything for themselves. like when they did the unboxing for KH it was when the game was already out so you couldn’t it even if you wanted to.

      • transferstudentx

its just an unboxing of a stupid game that happens to have a decent ce all the dislikes aside from some clueless people who dosent even get a joke, you on the other hand are just hopeless when did i attack the idea of unboxing the game on the internet you guys crack me up lol

  • Raltrios

So retailers aren’t going to have this if I’m understanding correctly, right?

    • Kaseladen

I believe its only available through SE’s online store

      • Raltrios

Hmm… maaaaay have to cancel my preorder and switch to this one, then.

  • YoshEE

too bad gamestop doesnt have it T.T

  • LDM

…and here it comes out the same time that they cut my hours at work. >:( Thank you crappy job for me not able to afford this!

  • Zeonsilt

I have played demo version of FFXIII-3(J),now i’m understand why the sales is low in Japan.
At least, this time the game in not played without a player, like it was in FFXIII & XIII-2(spam X like a boss, win 99% battles;yes, casuals;that button ruined FFXIII for me entirely).

    • Timovisch

You probably had a broken disc since my FFXIII had me to use more then just the X-button. If you are talking about the mayority of RPG’s and FF’s they are about mashing one button. You also had to para-switch at the right timing in FFXIII. Just saying’

    • DragKudo

You weren’t forced to use the auto battle. So you can’t say it ruined the game. Well you can, but you’ll be wrong. Also every Rpg has you mashing one button and occasionally other buttons.

      • Exactly. Auto battle has its flaws because it can only do what it’s programmed to do. One thing that frustrates me about it is when I try to use Lightning as a ravager, but it mixes magic attacks with physical attacks, which delays her animations. The whole point of the battles is to get through them as fast as possible to get a good grade, so in those cases, I prefer to manually input my commands. I could easily just use auto battle to get through the game, but I’d rather optimize my strategy for the easiest possible win.

And I think most Final Fantasy games start out too simplistic before they start to get more complex and tactical. They never get hard, but it takes them a little while to start giving you more commands to play with.

      • Spirit Macardi

… Except you are forced to use auto-battle, since the computer can select moves faster, always knows what to focus on, and remembers all elemental weaknesses. Selecting moves manually is a waste of time and can potentially leave you open to attack if you aren’t quick enough. So yeah, you can go without using auto-battle only if you’re okay with making slow to zero progress, and that’s not a true choice since it’s clearly what you’re supposed to do.

        • DragKudo

No you are not, you must have been bad at the game. Once i learned the enemies weaknesses I punch in the commands crazy fast, but even then I din’t care if i got hit. Does the game smack you in the face and say no you are playing me the wrong way? No, it tells you hey here is a faster, lazier way to play.

          It gives you a choice.

The only time I would ever use the auto battle is if I was making a sandwich, using the bathroom, or just wanted to hurry through the stage before I missed my bus to school.

    • Xerain

The sales were low compared to Main numbered FF games, and low compared to smash hits… but were pretty good when taken in the context of your average jRPG.

The questions if how good were they compared to what S-E intended to sell? If you compare the sales to the quantity stores ordered, they were right on target. However, did stores order as many copies as S-E hoped they would?

  • SuperSailorV

I pre-ordered this on the Square Enix store pretty recently… along with the Final Fantasy X/X-2 SE store exclusive edition.

The only issue is FFX/X-2 comes out like a month later, and from what I know about the logistics company they employ (Digital River) they’ll wait until the latest available item release in your order to ship any of it out. So I guess I’ll be playing Lightning Returns a month late.

Also, the SE store has free shipping over $100, which is why I bundled my order together.

    • Aoshi00

I did the same thing.. would’ve been easier if this is not S-E store exclusive only (is it just me or it’s very hard to order thru digitalriver w/ the S-E sign-in).. $10 shipping is a lot and you need $100 minimum.. at first I pre-ordered this w/ Drakengard 3, and then X/X-2 CE came.. otherwise it wouldn’t even be shipped until the end of 2014 lol.. I thought about getting just the regular edition, but this unboxing video looks nice, looking forward to the X/X-2 HD unboxing soon, it’s nice they did this for LR & KH 1.5..

  • Croxino

Thing ill do for that pocket watch…

  • Kittymimiko

    no EU collector edition? :(

  • Simon

I really really do not need a pocket watch, that is a deal breaker LOL

  • That pocket watch will be mine *_*

  • Been waiting to play this with English subs for a while.

  • Altumn

Already got it baybay! Sold me on the first video.

  • Neophoton

Only thing I’d want is the pocket watch. Already have the Japanese release. :( Shame it’ll probably get overpriced to hell and back on eBay.

  • John Pena

No Thank you , I will be sticking with the standard edition.

  • Azurelegance

I want it, but i’d rather save up for the ps4… :(

  • hazelnut1112

I’m very surprised Toriyama did not include Lightning’s panties in this. Would have been something he would do.

    • Final Aura

He’s keeping those for himself lol

  • KrazyBean

I played the demo (I’ve also recorded it so if you want to see it then just watch the video below) and I have to say, it’s really fun. The story MAY suck unfortunately but gameplay is always #1 to me and I love it in this game.

  • Paul Rodriguez

Saw this a few days ago. I’m running out of shelf space because of these limited editions.
