8% Off Bravely Default, PlayStation 4 In Stock – Weekend Deals

By Viet Do . January 25, 2014 . 11:00am

I’ll be honest, I didn’t keep up to news on Bravely Default but now that its a month away from release, everyone and their mom is telling me its a must-buy. A spiritual successor to Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, its arrival has been eagerly awaited by many (but not me because I was living under a rock) since its official localization announcement back in April of last year. (Free demo at official site).

Generally not many deals will exist for 3DS title pre-orders and the only retailer that knows how to ride the hype is California-based Newegg (I’m pretty sure they have a JRPG fan there that keeps a good pulse on highly anticipated niche titles – or they’re just going off data from sales and visits, whatever). You can pre-order Bravely Default at Newegg for $3 off (woo) with promo code EMCPWHW93 for the final price of $36.99. Free shipping and you’ll be charged only when its shipped.

On other news, PlayStation 4 units are in-stock at BestBuy.com, though its not available for pickup and its online-only. You do get free shipping so not a big deal if you’ve already been waiting forever. Supplies looks to be stabilized a bit as the 8th Gen console from Sony has been in-stock since Friday (generally they sell out within hours pre-Xmas). We’re expect stocks for the PlayStation 4 to be stable come late February or March, to which point we’ll see a lot less silly prices from resellers on Craigslist and eBay.

For the PC side of things, there’s the upcoming pre-order for Resident Evil 4 HD, Metal Gear Rising at 30% off, Hitman: Contracts finally available via a Steam key, and also FF14: AAR Digital Collector’s at Amazon at 64% off, for those that didn’t bite during Winter Sales. All good prices. All excellent if you still have money left over from holiday sales.

If you don’t have Mass Effect, now’s your chance. All three games are only 13.58. Well worth it.

    • Bought #3 for around $5 during one of those freak Origin sale. Had to dig up my old hard drive to find the ME1 and ME2 saves. Worth it.

Yeah wacky ending aside, play it slow and enjoy the ME universe/lore.

I so would but I can’t bring myself to use Origin.

      • Kaetsu

I don’t blame you. Origin is garbage. My account got hacked by some Russian guy 4-5 months ago and I haven’t gotten back because I never use Origin. I’m not even going to bother to get Titanfall because of Origin.

  • KoRLumen

It’s also worth mentioning that if you become a member and subscribe to GMG’s newsletter, you get a 25% off coupon for Titanfall on the PC, I believe.

  • Lissomia

I’m ashamed to say I’ve never really played Mass Effect, so I caved and bought all three for $13.00! Probably a bad idea to do that right before mid-terms… whoops!

Prepare for bad marks. Also, Tali and Garrus for spouse material.

  • T. Azure

    Turn-based RPG Combat (I hate real-time)
Ability to adjust difficulty and encounter settings (I prefer Easy)
Job System and Fantasy Settting (I love the various abilities)
Fast Forward and Auto Combat options (Makes grinding bearable)
Easy to Read Mapping system and Destination markers (I get lost easily)
Sidequests with bosses giving jobs as a reward (I love this idea)
Agnes (Her in-game model is beautiful)

  • Heropon

Bravely Default is so overrated . it is boring and disappointed compared to 4 Heroes

    • Nhazul

After playing both, I’d disagree. Bravely feels better in several ways. Down to the art style, menus & interface, job & battle system, overworld, music, and overall polish. And the details! When you use a 2-handed sword, your character actually changes stance and wields it in both hands, among other great things like this. You can tell a lot of time and care went into BD’s development. It’s not overrated, just a damn solid game.
