The Elder Scrolls Online Hits 25% Off Pre-Order This Weekend

By Viet Do . February 1, 2014 . 11:00am

Update 6/20: ESO is now live and launched! The best discounts available for Elder Scrolls Online found here.

Lots of deals this weekend, including the ever news generating Elder Scrolls Online. If you didn’t keep up with the news, here’s the gist: details on Imperial Edition was announced earlier in the week and turns out the Imperial race is exclusive to the more expensive Imperial Edition. *Dun dun dun* Obviously this got people raising their eyebrows (or whatever, I’m not the keeper of eyebrows). ZeniMax even specifically addressed Imperial Edition’s lack of “advantages” in their latest “Ask Us Anything.” You can make up your own mind on if Imperial being exclusive race is a shoddy move or not.

On the flip side of things, Elder Scrolls Online pre-order is now discounted at 25% (update: now 20% off) through this weekend at GMG, this includes the aforementioned Imperial Edition, down to $64 USD or £55.99 (don’t bother with doing currency math, you know the answer already). Standard Edition is down to $48 USD or £39.99 (use voucher code FUSWJT-B1DU64-JBV8UY).

For other game deals this weekend, there’s lots of Early Access Indie games available at Gamefly on sale. Talk about another sore point. When did buying alpha games become a thing? Then again these purchasing method (crowd funding, early access etc.) also made  games such as Kerbal Space Program a reality so maybe its not all bad.

wait a second, want to play imperial? Pay moar Money?

Bethseda, Your father is so disapoint in you.
And here I was thinking about giving ESO a chance.

    • Derek E Nay

Bethseda has nothing to do with the MMO. Zenimax has another developer making it. But yea, Zenimax adding having those bonuses is stupid.I won’t pay a extra 20 for a single race…

      • Ferrick

to add salt to wound, that race has been available for everyone who payed standard price to buy morrowing~skyrim…

      • Audie Bakerson

Zenimax, which owns Bethesda (though it was started as a company entirely to own Bethesda, don’t ask me why) did pay the (very large) bill though (on credit no less!).

      • tridus

Zenimax is the parent, but Bethesda is their main studio and the one making the games that are paying the bills for this. They’re certainly not going to play down the connection for a game like this.

        • andref

Zenimax Online is making the game, all Bethesda is listed as, is the publisher not the developer

          • Callonia

            Huh, didn’t know ok thanks.

  • Audie Bakerson

How long till this hits 100% off? ToRtanic hit it in less than a year. Will this break its record?

    • Ferrick

      possibly at a slower rate

  • Spirit Macardi

… Is the most boring race being the only exclusive one supposed to be a joke? Because if so, well done x3

  • Adam Acuo

All of the evidence to date suggests that this will be a bomb. All we want is an EO game that keys us quest with a friend or two. This is overkill.

    • Simon H

      Not what I heard :)
I can see what the take-ups looking like from in-game tho. I’ve been in a number of betas so far. In-game the response has been hugely positive.

Of course, you wonder how many of those loving it will actually BUY the game.

It seems the answer to that is A LOT. That’s purely been my experience talking to people in game. As if that wasn’t evidence enough, I’ve seen rapidly inflating numbers of white horses. For those no in the know – those would be imperial horses, restricted to those who have preordered digital imperial edition at the moment.
