By Ishaan . February 4, 2014 . 7:29am

Pokémon Bank and the accompanying Poké Transporter app are now available in Europe, Nintendo announced this morning. The two apps can be downloaded via the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo 3DS.

As previously reported, Pokémon Bank is a paid cloud service that will allow you to store Pokémon from Pokémonk X and Y on boxes hosted on Internet servers. Meanwhile, Poké Transporter will allow you to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Black/White or Black/White 2 into the newer games or to Pokémon Bank.

Downloading and using the application before March 14th, 2014 will allow to to try the Pokémon Bank service out fore free for 30 days.

Additionally, downloading and using Pokémon Bank will also unlock special events in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. You can find more information on the service here.

While Pokémon Bank is now live in Europe, the service isn’t available in the U.S. yet. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for information on a U.S. release, and update as necessary.

Well, I guess this is a better time than any to start working on my national Pokedex. There’s gonna be a lot of Pokemon that weren’t previously available floating around.

  • Getting warmer…

  • GiralGa

Just release it for the US already -.- this has gone way too long. Seeing that the EU has been released today, I hope we’ll get an announcement for the US release. #PLEASEUNDERSTAND

  • Go2hell66

    meanwhile in america…

  • Timovisch

    Now…SMT IV please….. :( …. =)

  • Would love that here in America… Come this Friday I probably won’t even care anymore. Will be focused on bravely default and I’m already disappointed with Nintendo over this whole thing.

    • Lucky Dan

It’s due to the cloning of the Pokemon which everyone is doing with X & Y, I just wish gamefreak will someday stop these exploits making the game worthwhile to make ur team instead of going full out duping ur team.

  • Makes you wonder why it’s not up in the States yet…

    • AuraGuyChris

Possibly because there aren’t as many people in Europe than in America, or else the app would crash from the massive influx and we’d have another delay on our hands…

      • I’m hoping that logic is the case and not something more incredulous (i.e. PokeGenned out the butt transfer from Gen V flooding the GTS market).

      • celery

There might be more people in North America than Europe, but what happens when you combine Oceania? Because Bank was released for Australia, too.

    • I feel like they’re staggering it so that Pokebank won’t crash (or has less likely a chance of doing so) and they can accommodate for the new users.

  • AuraGuyChris

You know what, in the end, screw the bank. I have enough boxes in the main game that running out of space will never be an issue. 31 boxes + 6 spots for battles + 6 slots in the party for a total of 942 spots.

The only thing I’m ever going to use the bank for is to transport all the non-obtainable Pokemon from the older gens, nab the free Celebi, and drop the app into obscurity. Unfortunately, it seems very likely that Game Freak will keep using this thing in future games.

Anyway, they won’t mind losing a single customer from using the bank.

    • Steven Higgins

You’re right, they do plan to use this for future games, probably allowing you to transfer your Pokemon from X/Y to the next generation and beyond.

      • Satori Satya

Exactly. That’s the plan behind the bank.

  • Beta

    Will probably release February 30th, if you know what I mean X’D /bad joke is bad ;_;

  • Khoko

It’s a tiny bit insulting when they’re so outta touch they can’t even announce this nor can they give a rough estimate as to when it’ll be finally available everywhere.

    • Morningstar

Yeah because their servers can withstand 200 metric tons of hype without crashing. Oh wait…

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    Congrats EUR…yay >:}

  • Kamakuma

Nintendo is just a tease some times… xD But its fine I’ll start playing pokemans again when they finally release it here.

But though when most other games come out this will be on the back of that backlog. *sips*

  • MasterScrub

I’d be really frustrated if it weren’t for the fact that I have a Japanese 3DS.

  • ThatGuy3190_7

I’ll be too busy with Danganronpa next week to care even less.

  • LDM

N o A really needs to get their act together!

  • Zoozbuh

YES!! Happy to be in Europe for once :3 (Well okay, we’ve had it pretty good lately to be fair.) Also- a great excuse to finally get B&W2, since I never really felt like bothering with that game before!

  • NimbusStev

There ya go, Europe. You finally got something before us.

    • Primal Link

Your probably forgetting stuff like M&L Dream Team and Bravely Default…

      • Uso Ewin

You didn’t have to rub it in…

      • Adrian Duran

Prof Layton and Phoenix Wright as well

      • Ric Vazquez

        You just re-opened old wounds

        • Primal Link

Well on the flipside it takes forever for us to get Atlus games….geez i wonder how long it would take for Persona Q to get here…

          • Ric Vazquez

            I’m hoping not very long

    • ShinStar

Their box art is sometimes better too! (Following Japan’s footsteps)

    • Vash bane

after visiting a certain site yesterday I knew I would see this comment here XD

  • AuraGuyChris

It better come before Friday. America will be very busy with Bravely Default.

    • Morningstar

Maybe that’s yhe point more propel play BD = less strain on the servers.

  • XaviIniesta

I’m not getting it yet anyway even though I live in Europe, because I plan to only use it for a month (at least for now) so I need to plan on how to move my old Pokemons before I download it.
I guess most ppl already figured this out tho. lol

  • Lalum

Would be a great help to get this in America. Finished my Kalos pokedex and now I need the shiny charm.

  • Pandakids09 .

God i’ve been waiting so long for this already re bought Diamond and black just for this thing!

  • Zer0faith
    • Dat Avatar. Dat Image. It has been a long time in the making, indeed.

      • Zer0faith

        Meanwhile in ‘Murica:

        • Christopher Nunes

Which movie or show is those scenes from, can I ask?

          • Zer0faith

First post is from Pokemon x/y though I won’t spoil the scene sorry. The second post I have no idea but it fits the point right?

          • Christopher Nunes

Not the scene, from which series that scene comes from. I’m curious to know so I can look into it.

          • Primal Link

            Indiana Jones series, i think….

          • Christopher Nunes

            For both screen shots?

          • Both come from Indiana Jones, yes. I think they’re from the third film, if memory serves me well.

  • LastationLover5000

Now if only it’d come out in America

  • Kazekage Gaara

  • From hence forth today shall be known as, “The day we all realized how hard the Europeans have it” day. My heart goes out to all you Euro’s out there!

  • FivePointedTheStar

I guess they’re implementing a group of regions at a time to make sure that their servers can handle it. With Japan alone the server busted big time. They’re being more careful and anticipated that it might happen again. Right now somebody is nervously watching how much stress the server can take with Europe added. And hoping it doesn’t blow a second time.

  • artemisthemp

So happy that I finally got my Celebi :)

  • derpachief

Meh, other than getting that celebi, pokebank is useless to me since I don’t have the old pokemon games anymore :( Oh well, I’m almost done completing the whole pokedex anyway via. trading only which is only a tad bit more challenging XD

  • Ben Love

Just in case anyone is wondering….it is up in america today…

  • Ric Vazquez

Just my opinion, Bravely Default > Pokemon, so it this does not get here before Friday I’m to completely ignore it for the next 2 months.
