Amazon Japan Is Giving A DLC Cardboard Box With Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

By Spencer . February 5, 2014 . 1:10am

image In the most appropriate piece of retailer exclusive downloadable content ever, Amazon Japan shoppers get a special cardboard box as DLC when purchasing Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. What kind of cardboard box is it? Konami won’t say because the DLC code isn’t for Ground Zeroes, it’s actually for use with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

As of now, the special cardboard box, presumably an item Snake can hide in, is only available from Amazon Japan.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes comes out in North America on March 18 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

For some reason, I originally thought the headline meant some sort of exclusive cardboard sleeve for the regular game box.

    (sigh, IF ONLY ;)

I … uh … thought it meant a physical giant cardboard box (big enough for Snake to fit in) that was filled with packaging peanuts with the game inside. ._.

I was hoping for the same… Guess i could tell my bro jesus to go pick me a god-sized carboard box from earth, but i’m not sure if he is quite over his PTSD yet…

    Gee… $40 for a box… thanks.

So Amazon sends out a game, in a real cardboard box… and includes a code for a virtual cardboard box?

What I freakin love about the MGS series is that although it has a very serious and intricate plot, it doesn’t take itself serious as well. I mean it is a “game” and we should have fun. I love ultra hyper serious games too for their plot, but sometimes I forget that I am “playing” a game for fun. Maybe I am just old school about games where I value fun over anything.

    I wish u got a REAL official box <—lol

I thought it was a real cardboard box. Now I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed. That would be an awesome pre-order bonus. xD
