<< How to read and understand sales

Gundam continues to be a lucrative money-maker for Namco Bandai. Case in point: Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. Full Boost sold nearly 270,000 copies in its first week on store shelves, debuting at the #1 spot in the software sales chart.

At #2 was Diablo III, which Square Enix published in Japan. The game sold close to 42,000 copies in its first week. Not far behind it was Disgaea 4 Return for the Vita, at nearly 34,000 copies sold.

Also released last week was Imageepoch’s Toshin Toshi, which sold 23,000 copies.

Finally, it would appear the announcement of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (titled Monster Hunter 4G in Japan) has done little to dissuade people from buying the regular version of Monster Hunter 4 so far. The game sold over 7,000 copies last week. Being able to carry save data over to the updated edition helps in that regard.

The latest weeks have been boring, nothing significant over the HW numbers…

Meanwhile the anime keeps pushing Youkai Watch up. How good :)

    • Zero_Destiny

I’ve also been pleased to see that so far Youkai Watch has been doing well in the TV ratings too. :) Time will tell if it has any staying power, but so far its earned some respectable numbers.

  • Tinye

Nice to see that the Vita seems to be stable and props to Blizzard/Square on D3

  • GameWinner

Now Disgaea 4 needs to return to the west.

    • Shady Shariest

      As soon as possible :3
(Preferably around the time we late adopters get vita’s :3)

  • Eder García

5 Sony consoles games in the top 10 vs 5 3DS games in the top 10… talking about balance

    • kthanxyousuck

      No room for Xbox LOL

  • stephane3012

Vita sales are steady. I guess the console is finally getting some recognition there in japan.

    • ronin4life

      All sales are pretty steady.

Though Vita and PS3 have had new games releasing every week since early december, and some were decently important too. Nintendo platforms have recieved noticeably fewer titles in this span.

      • Namuro

Why did you get voted down for that? LOL

        • Cazar

This guy tries to discredit the Vita at every waking opportunity.

          • M’iau M’iaut

By noting what has occurred in the past few weeks? Lets please not start wars when there is none to have.

          • Cazar

Based on past comments he’s made, his intention is very clear.

          • M’iau M’iaut

Ronin? My experience is he is a pretty straight shooter with his own thoughts. Sorry if we disagree.

          • Cazar

I do disagree, at least partially, but I wouldn’t feel right discussing it any further without his company.

My intention wasn’t to start a war, I was just giving an answer to Namuro’s question. Although I suppose a question of that nature could only be considered flame bait.

          • M’iau M’iaut

            No worries.

From the frontal news pic alone, I thought Flonne managed to acquire a Zaku.

  • Kaien

    Disgaea did well. I’m happy.

  • Luigi87

My import copy of Gundam arrived today. I’m very happy seeing it do well.

  • haku67

“Saints Row IV Ultra Super Ultimate Deluxe Edition”
lol thought this was an street fighter 4 expansion for an second haha.

  • TheExile285

Ah, I’m glad D4R sold pretty well. Kirby is still do well too.

First: It’s nice to see the Vita stabilizing, sales-wise. It’s basically number 2 right now in terms of consoles on average, with the 3DS still having a wide first place margin. But that’s infinitely better than what it was doing before. I just hope that Sony improves their TVita marketing once the PS4 is out, I feel like they dropped that ball really bad for such a neat and relatively affordable device.

Second: I’m glad to see that Disgaea 4 Return did pretty well actually! Given the console it’s on and it’s smaller audience, over 30k in a week isn’t a bad number to move at all. Looking forward to it coming to America!

    • icecoffemix

NIS projected 50K LTD for D4R, it’s a success already.

      • http://linkapics.tumblr.com/ Linka

50k? Yeah, I think D4R is gonna be able to swing that, so good for NIS.

  • God

So, you are telling Disgaea sold 4 times more than Battle Of Z this week, and almost as much as it has sold since the releas? As a huge DB fan i have mixed feelings, but as a NIS fan all i can say is: SUCK IT BITCHES WHO SAID DB WAS GONNA CRUSH DISGAEA ON RETAIL!

  • Shady Shariest

    4th! Good going Japanese Dood’s! :3
