One Slash Is Worth A Thousand For These Samurai Warriors

By Eugene . February 9, 2014 . 5:00pm

While these are really short videos for Samurai Warriors 4, we’ve been given a treat in the form of four of them for the upcoming PlayStation 3 and Vita game. All of these characters, however, take the word “cool” quite seriously. The Lady Hayakawa, above, for instance, does so literally—freezing her foes with that lacrosse racket staff of hers.

The Lord Takakage Kobayakawa however, uses water-based special attacks instead. Though his book might have a few explosive runes on them for those who get too close.

Kojuro Katakura, Date Masamune’s most trusted advisor, however, just brings cool to a whole new level in Samurai Warriors 4. His spectacle-rimmed face and “why-didn’t-we-think-of-that” shield-gun/sword sheathe concept are Tecmo Koei’s response to how to play the cool retainer straight.

Finally, there’s Mitsuhide Akechi, whose coolness resides in just being mysterious most of the time. His reasons for doing what he does and his betrayal of a certain person are debated by scholars to this day.

Samurai Warriors 4 will be released for the PlayStation 3 and Vita March 20th in Japan.

  • …Meh. I prefer the BASARA portrayal of both Mitsuhide and Kojuuro.

    (Don’t attack me, please).

Hayakawa’s moveset seems cool, but dunno, she’s way too simple. Koshosho’s definitely the best new character. /fab ♥

Why did Mitsuhide betray Nobunaga? Most likely it was due to a number of things that Nobunaga did to him that he took as insults. It’s said that he was known to hold onto grudges.

A slightly more romantic version is that Nobunaga actually asked Mitsuhide to kill him if his methods became too ruthless.

Between this and Sengoku Basara 4, I always confuse of which model/character in which game. Am I the only one with this kind of issue? :D
