Here’s A Closer Look At Your Base In Toukiden: Age of Demons

By Ishaan . February 10, 2014 . 9:39am

Tecmo Koei have shared a look at your base in Toukiden. The player’s base is divided into four parts—the Slayer Headquarters, the Home, the Blacksmith and the Shrine. Let’s start with the Slayer Headquarters.

SLAYER HEADQUARTERS:

Command Center:

“The location where orders from the Slayers organization are received. Here, Slayers are given the missions to go and slay the Oni.”

Repository:

“Here, Slayers can receive training from Yamato, the leader of the Slayers within Utakata Village. This is the place to learn about the basics of battle.”

Encyclopedia:

“An encyclopedia compiled by Shūsui, the researcher for the Slayers. A wide variety of information concerning the Oni and the Otherworld can be found here.”

Offering Box:

“A place where the Slayers gather before going out on their missions. Offerings are made using Haku. Good things may happen when large donations of Haku are made.”

HOME:

Your home is where you can change equipment and view a record of your activities.

Equipment Chest and Materials Chest:

These chests are where you store equipment and materials.

Portal Stone:

“A mysterious stone monument that enables the multiplayer portion of the game. There is also one located in front of the Slayers Headquarters.”

Letters:

“View letters sent to the player character. By carrying out the requests of the villagers, they will also send thank-you letters in return.”

Biography:

“A written record of the player character’s exploits.”

Tenko:

“This enables communication with the Tenko that resides together with the player character.”

Also available are a Blacksmith and Shrine, as well as “other facilities”. You can check those out here. The game will be available on February 11th in North America and February 14th in Europe for the PlayStation Vita.

To anyone concerned about the 30 item limit in the demo, you start out with 100 in the full game and it goes up to 500+

    • $1392518

Ohhh. Good. I know about how much space you can get later on, but the initial 100 capacity is good to know.
I was prepared to do some insane things in game to get more space if I really have to.

    • Anewme…Again

I hope we can get over 100 spaces quite fast though.
If Toukiden is anywhere near what MH is with items 100 spaces will be gone really fast.

    • MaximDualBlade

Can I do muliplayer quests solo? Because I noticed in the demo the online missions were the same as the story missions, so is there a difference in the main game? Also the preorder bonuses, there are 3 differents, and I want to know if these are accesible when you advance the plot(yu’s plot) or are never accesible?
      The 3 pre order bonuses I have found are: Mitama Yae/accesory;
      Mitama Momotaro/accesory; 2 extra missions

Are the preorder mitamas and the preorder missions obtainables in the mian game?

      • TheExile285

They aren’t the same as Story missions but you can do them solo. All the pre-order mitama are obtainable in the game. The 2 extra missions are DLC that will be released free or paid.

        • MaximDualBlade

Thank you for the reply. I actually don’t want to download the free dlc. Why you ask? Because I know it has been released in Japan for months now, so I feel kinda bad to have to wait for things I know they already have. We are getting the game 6 months(if i am correct?) after the japanese release, so the FREE dlc should be on the disc(according to me, call me crazy, and I’ll call you maybe ;) )

In conclusion: I would like the dlc that Japan got, already on my cartridge

          • ekibyougami

It’s actually around 7 months XD
Yes, the English version demo is compatible to play online multiplayer with the Japanese version full game, so it’s basically updated to the latest version. However, you’ll still need the DLCs to unlock those content in the game. You can say that they’re like a key that is used to unlock something already in the game. And since it’s also updated, it SHOULD have the Cerberus quest from Soul Sacrifice (given the fact that it came with the latest update and not as a DLC).

          • MaximDualBlade

Don’t toy with my feelings like that please XD I want that SS crossver, with costumes included! I also have 0 problems if the dlc is available from day one, but if they do the “we are so kind to give you a single dlc each 2 weeks, and in our home country the dlc has been available since september-obctober :)”

And I like that it’s cross-region playable, to play with all friends.

      • $1392518

You can definitely do the MP quests solo.
There not completly the same, though, like monster hunter, collection and kill count quests require more to complete.

        • MaximDualBlade

          thank you for the reply

    • pixxxelz

Thank god! It was a pain in the ass to choose what to keep and what to ditch in the demo

    • z_merquise

It’s the main reason why I held back in spending too much time in the demo. It’s nice that the main game had 100 item slots initially.

Anyway, I enjoy the demo a lot and that convinced me to get this game.

    • ekibyougami

Yeah, most people who played the demo are bothered pretty much by this. Fortunately, the item cap is 700 (maximum). But you need to take several side quests from Tatara (Blacksmith NPC) to increase the item inventory cap. Oh and there is also an equipment inventory cap as well. You also get to increase the cap via Tatara’s side quests.

And to save you guys the trouble, here’s a tip:
Don’t get absorbed too much with the Solo/Story quest. One of the side quests from Tatara needs you to get a rare material from a certain boss in Chapter 7 Multiplayer quests (which you can also opt to go solo with AI companions). Just to save you guys the trouble of panicking from running out of inventory space in the future (like I did XD)

    • God

I found about this game today, and i’m already buying danganronpa today at midnight… my wallet can’t handle both this and Demon Gazer, mind making a recomendation, oh not-as-almighty-as-me TheExile285?

      • TheExile285

I’ve only played the demo of Toukiden and none of Demon Gaze so I can’t.

Depending on the type of gamer you are, Toukiden will give you a good bang for your buck (60-100 hours) but Demon Gaze might be the more enjoyable RPG overall.

Toukiden also has a (1GB) demo. Give that a try and try to finish all the missions.

        • God

Thanks! I’ll give it a try.

  • Shippoyasha

Makes me remember the bases in Suikoden and Skies of Arcadia games.

  • Stephen Mc Devitt

Why does it have to be another Monster Hunter-clone? Ragnarok Odyssey, Soul Sacrifice, Toukiden and that upcoming game, from the makers of Gravity Rush, about ones born as prisoners with numbers above their heads.

It’s all cool except for the fact they’re all about the multiplayer. I don’t it’s weird for people to play those kind of games on their own but rather that I’m probably the only hardcore gamer, with an extensive knowledge on games, where I live.

    • $1392518

      You cant go online?

    • SerendipityX

You don’t actually have to play multiplayer in Toukiden. You can play solo or bring the AI with all missions.

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

If you can’t solo your way in RO or SS you aren’t a hardcore gamer to begin with, just saying. None of these games have such a difficulty that you can’t solo the main campaign~.

    • TheExile285

Have you actually played the demo? The AI allies are more than competent enough that you can play it offline with no real issues. Just because these games have online doesn’t mean your forced to play online or its impossible to play solo.

      • SerendipityX

Or you can do what I do and use the AI as bait. I will become a Bow Master…at the expense of my friends. ^___^

        • Anewme…Again

Hmm, if monsters appear out of nowhere someday, i will be sure to never party with you XD

      • MaximDualBlade

I dare say they are too competent because I had to take them out of my team because they killed everything too fast

      • Stephen Mc Devitt

I did play the demo and having three companions made the game too easy. I thought Toukiden would’ve been more like Dynasty Warriors with monsters (aka Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce).

        • Red Veron

The beginning of the game is easy with foraging and teaching the mechanics. Hunting games scale like that.

      • TrueDefault

I gotta say Hatsuho saved me more times than I can count. They never got killed once during my demo run.

    • Ferrick

if i had a dollar for comments like these, i would be way too rich

      • Lloyd Christmas

You can never be too rich!

  • Anewme…Again

Only a day left to go, my vita is so excited to eat that game that it can’t stay in place lol

    • $1392518

My friend who works at GS had the gall to tell me they aready have toukiden in the back room when I went to get Bravely Default. F*k those Street date rules

  • Darkbeat

Toukiden has the deepest lore. I’m super hype for this game!

    • Red Veron

Yu is great. Also use the money you get to buy weapons and stockpile them to get around the 3000 money limit. Transfer into game and sell the weapons for instant money.

  • Ladius

I hope to be able to play this game after completing Danganronpa, it looks really interesting.

  • Zer0faith

One thing I’ve always wondered is how the back of your home connects with the repository, when once you exit your home you have to walk past the market and up to the temple to get to the repository O_o
Is there some sort of tunnel that connects the two or something?

    • Skeptika Crediblus

Yeah, I wondered that, too. Must be a warp hole or something.

    • Anewme…Again

      Maybe a hall.

Anyway this is a game so it doesn’t have to be logical

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

Anyone have any idea how difficult the platinum would be to obtain?

  • https://www.facebook.com/mike.degroodt Mike de Groodt

Wanna buy this…. but is it worth the money?

    • Ferrick

you can try the demo if you’re interested

  • Otaku-Sama

… so, no English PSP version?.

    • Anewme…Again

A psp version of that game would have hurt sales more then help in the west.
Lot of peoples probably would have just pirated the PSP version in place of buying the Vita version.

    • Vash bane

from what I’ve read do far in other places no psp verion

  • Kazekage Gaara

Looks pretty cool.I have monster hunter on the 3ds so this should be pretty cool I hope…

  • Ryuki

If anyone is up for hunting any mosnters, add me on PSN: ApolloRei
I got the game today and I’m enjoying it alot. < 3 Just hunting Windshredder for the armor and a new bow for subbing.
