This Week In Imports: PlayStation 4 Vs. Shin Koihime Musou

By Spencer . February 17, 2014 . 4:00pm

image PlayStation 4 launches in Japan this week with a few extra games made for Japan like Yakuza: Restoration, Strider (as a digital release), and Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition. While you can buy Knack separately, a code to download the PS4 game is included with launch systems called First Limited Pack in Japan.

Perhaps more interesting is Yeti is quietly releasing Shin Koihime Musou: Romance of the Three Kingdoms Adaptation With An Abundance Of Girls, an arcade 2D fighting game with Romance of the Three Kingdoms warlords reimagined as girls, for PlayStation 3. The game hasn’t gotten much press and it’s going against the PS4.

  • Ah, so it’s set that Shin Koihime Musou is out this month, then? I had it preordered for the longest time, but it would always be pushed back – and having it be in this time of the year doesn’t help my budget at all! At least its time has come, finally.

Remember, when you see Lu Bu – you gotta move!

    • Man, SKM got pushed back so much I actually was going to give up on it ever even being released. Hopefully it actually come out this time.

considering the success of GTA5 in Japan… im expecting good sales for those western PS4 launch titles (putting aside the Japanese games)

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Eh. Amazon doesnt paint a pretty picture for the PS4.

Top selling game is Mario kart and PS3 versions of PS4 games.

Western games are no where to be seen.

      GTA is a worldwide phenomenon.

    • malek86

Well I dunno, GTA5 was kind of the exception (and it’s the biggest western game ever, pretty much). Other than that, it’s not like western games have been particularly big in Japan this gen. Only Call of Duty has made big numbers.

  • TheGameTagerZ

Shin Koihime Musou isn’t exactly my cup of tea. I played it on my PC and it left a bad taste in my mouth (not only because I’m bad at it but it was simply boring). I love the art though.

    • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

      this is a new game

      • TheGameTagerZ

I know what I played. I was excited then disappointed. But like I said not my cup of tea.

        • Slayven19

No the game that they are talking about is the fighting game, not that adventure game you listed.

          • Alexander Marquis Starkey

And it’s still not a new game. this is the original version and now a new one was just announced for arcades with 3 new characters.

          • Slayven19

I know that its not a new game, but the guy I quoted it still wrong. The game he linked is not a fighting game and that’s the game he said wasn’t his cup of Tea. I was clearing up confusion.

          • TheGameTagerZ

The game I linked was a fighting game but the description was inaccurate. You type that title on youtube and you don’t see any adventure in it.

          • TheGameTagerZ

That’s not an adventure game its a fighting game. I know what I played unless this is an adventure. Can people at least try out google before replying with “nah bro that aint it yo”

          • Slayven19

Google? The link you provided to gamefaqs has the game listed as adventure game. Check your first link again and see.

          • TheGameTagerZ

What’s with that one random guest vote thumbing me down and upvoting anyone trying to counter me? Anyway, I just took a look and yeah that description on GameFaqs is incorrect. I have that game on my PC it’s the same one that was supposed to port over to PS3 but got delayed.

  • It’s a cool game folks, don’t believe the bs hate on it just cause the game doesn’t play like a typical street fighter type fighting game. The mechanics are kinda hard to get into at first though.

  • easter

    RotTK imagined as moe girls.

    Truly, there is a god.

  • Yan Zhao

Wonder if there’s a digital version of Koihime Musou in the Japanese PSN so I dont need to wait for like 2 weeks just to import.

  • Monterossa

wow… they launched it in Japan after US/EU and with 3 Japanese games? PlayStation is becoming a western console?

    • ronin4life

PS3 was pretty much a western console already.

It only started getting a decent amount of japanese games about two years ago.

  • Hector Velar

they really need to come out with more quality games, that list is depressing.
