ReVeN, The Metroid-Inspired Action Platformer, Is Coming Along Nicely

By Eugene . February 21, 2014 . 2:29pm

ReVeN, the indie title channeling the spirit of Metroid, Crysis and Deus Ex, is funded. Additionally, the developers have shared an alpha video of how the game works. The cool bit: seeing how the re-routing of power systems will work.

Yes, you’ll have to re-route power to be able to perform abilities such as jumping higher or running faster, and even upgrade your existing abilities. This is done by using different suits—called “Gears”—in the game, each one with its own special abilities.

Part of the reason we’re intrigued is that beyond just powering up yourself, you’ll also be able to swap “gears”, or armor suits. These do different things, such as the Spark Gear’s anti-lightning effects or the Mach gear’s superspeed and jumping, and help players overcome different areas. Weapons like the Flamestrike, too, serve a purpose other than simply blowing stuff up.

ReVeN is in development for PC and Wii U. The game is planned for release in 2016, although if the team hits its stretch goal of $37,000 on Kickstarter, they’ll be able to speed development up, and release it in 2015 instead.

        • Kyle Wakeling

Not likely. 26hrs to go at the time of this post and the goal is 200k… we’re currently at 28k.

          • tonyp1987

We are definitely going to use the money we make from the games sales to reach those stretch goals we didn’t hit during the Kickstarter! We want to see our game on the Vita and 3DS! :)

          • Sperium3000

I know you were joking around, hence the “smart ass”. The problem is that it was not funny. For it to be funny, it has to make a semblance of sense.

          • Earthjolly

Whats not funny to you might be to someone else, you are not every human being

      • Farid Belkacemi

I’ll buy it on vita. I play most on it because I never have the time to sit in front of a TV and play on a console. So many unfinished PS3 games… So very many…

No you both were moving away from discussion with every post. Drop it and move on.
