Microsoft have partnered with Electronic Arts to release a special edition Xbox One Titanfall bundle, the publisher announced this morning. The bundle will be available starting March 11th in the U.S. and will cost $499.99 at select retailers.

The bundle will include the following items:

  • Download code for a digital copy of Titanfall
  • Xbox One console and Kinect
  • Xbox One wireless controller
  • Xbox One Chat Headset
  • One month Xbox Live Gold membership

Update: Microsoft have also announce a price drop for the Xbox One in the U.K. Starting February 28th, the system’s price will be lowered from £429.99 to £399.99. The Titanfall bundle will be released for £399.99 in the U.K. as well.

As a separate product—not included in the aforementioned bundle—Microsoft will also release a special Titanfall-themed Xbox One controller, pictured below. This will cost $64.99, and you can view more images of it here.

I swear this had already been announced… Also that controller really confuzzles me O.o

    • OneOkami

It was strongly rumored by insiders. There was little question whether it existed, only whether it would actually make it to production or not.

      • MikelAL93

yet the rumored console design didn’t show up on the box, instead its just a regular Xbox One…

  • Earthjolly

First you had my curiosity now you have my—-nah who am I kididng, you never had my curiosity

  • Roberto

I have to admit that control looks cool

  • First real killer app of this generation. It should be very interesting to see how things go from April onwards. XB1 already has a lot more early/launch games lined up than the competition at this point, so ideally, one or two killer apps would help kickstart the rhythm. This holiday is going to be very interesting.

    • Tiael

inFAMOUS: Second Son is my killer app, at least in March.
If I wanted to play Titanfall I’d do it on PC anyways.

      • For you, personally, maybe, but I think it’s safe to say Titanfall is going to be a much bigger deal than Infamous.

        • Tiael

          Obviously, I didn’t say sales-wise.
          People will eat it up.

          • Yeah, the question is how many people will eat it up on XB1, as opposed to PC or 360. But I do think that between Titanfall and Halo, we can expect to see most western third-party stuff lead on Xbox again this time around. Microsoft are very smart with the games and developers they choose to incentivize. They go after the genre leaders, and everyone else follows.

          • Tiael

It’ll be interesting to see, that’s for sure.

    • Zer0faith

While I can definitively say that this has at least grabbed ever FPS gamer’s attention and that it will definitively sell units in the west (US at least), I do wonder how it will fare int the East once X Box One is released over there. My hunch tells me that history will repeat itself regarding the 360’s performance over there but only time will tell.

      • True, but is Japan really even that important? I mean, how much is even PS4 going to sell in Japan? Not a whole lot, I think. Japan is basically split between the PS3, 3DS and smartphones at the moment.

        • XaviIniesta

Japan is home to many game developers, and there are developers who won’t make games that don’t sell in Japan, even if they do well in the west.

          • True, but we’re talking about sales, and the kind of titles you’re talking about will make very little difference to hardware sales in the long run.

        • Shinobikens

It’s really important because as good as Western developers are they lack variety. Sure you can say the same about Japan but without them the market would be really sad.

    • Anubisseesall

what release list are you looking at?
All I see for Xbox IS Titanfall until at least the fall. All the other “big” games, MGS V, Evolve, Wolfenstein, Watch Dogs, Elder Scrolls Online, Evil Within, Dying Light, Witcher 3, and Destiny are all on both. While Titanfall has some hype, it remains to be seen how much of that will translate to X1 sales. The X1 taking the lead in western markets and in development is more then just stretching it at this point, unless your name is Albert Penello. Halo 5 is non existent, and a port of Halo 2 is all thats been rumored to come out in the next 12 months. Titanfall will sell, no doubt but will it be the hit that Halo or COD was? I don’t see it, my money is on Destiny being the next big thing.

      • I’m looking at games that are already out. Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct. There’s more notable “new content” on XB1 right now than PS4, and these games will benefit as the console makes its way into more and more homes.

No doubt Destiny will be big, but I feel there’s a very low chance that Titanfall won’t be huge either.

        • Shinobikens

Idk where you’re getting the notable “new content” at because the it doesn’t have like any notable exclusives besides like DR3 and Titanfall and even then Titanfall is on PC

          • That’s more high-profile “new content” than the competition has at the moment, which was my point. All things considered, the Xbox One had a decent launch line-up with a good amount of variety.

Dead Rising was good, Killer Instinct was good, Forza had flaws but is still a good game at the end of the day. Now, if for whatever reason, you don’t want to acknowledge that, I don’t know what to say to you.

          • Shinobikens

Yeah but that’s not saying much since the PS4 and X1 are at the start of their lives and all the major games come out in Q4

      • Satori Satya

        “Halo 5 is non existent”

^^^^^ Well i dunno about that. OXM says otherwise.

        • Satori Satya

Here’s a scan of the magazine:

    • Fate

      “Killer App”
you silly dummy, its on the PC.

    • Shinobikens

Psh why pay $500 for a mediocre console if you already have a PC that can run it

      • Erikdayo

That’s a big if. Not everyone has a nice gaming rig. I’ll be getting it on PC, if anything, but a majority of people I know, even gamers, don’t have gaming PCs.

        • Shinobikens

They actually have the specs for it out and if you have a computer made for gaming like 5 years ago you can run it lol. It may be at min specs but I’d rather do that.

          • Satori Satya

You rather play the game at minimum specs on a 5 year old PC?

I would rather just play the 360 version.

  • Wake

That’s a pretty good deal. It’s a shame for early adopters who bought an XB1 for this game though. They just missed out on a free game and month’s worth of Gold.

    • Franky Oda Abraham

Right?! It bull shit. Current owners should get the game Free via download or at least at a ciscount like 50% off.

    • Aoshi00

I know, it’s decent bundle with a free game. But I did enjoy Ryse, Dead Rising 3, and Crimson Dragon at launch. Thank god (for me) this is not a special themed console (yet) lol, guess it’s still too early.. Like I got the 3DS XL but want the gold Zelda XL later but can’t double dip (I sold my black 3DS before and got the black Zedla 3DS), but I did buy the Titanfall controller separately from Best Buy, it looks sexy. Guess it’s good that’s not included either, otherwise that would be a $125 value. I loved my special themed 360s and controllers, none for PS3 in the US :(…. I didn’t even know this game is multiplayer only.. I don’t play online but like to collect all the cool themed controllers.

      • Wake

I’m not that bummed out about it though. I’ll always prefer a physical copy over a digital one. I’m not a big online player as well, but Titanfall has piqued my interest enough that I want to buy it. I only have Ryse and Peggle 2 so I haven’t really used my XB1 that much. That controller really does look good, but ahh just so many games I want buy so I need to save up XD

        • Aoshi00

Definitely, especially for a big game like this. But it seems like standard practice now to include only a digital d/l w/ these bundles, like the 3DS and XL :(.. I like the mechs in Titanfall too but I’m actually not very good at FPS, also I wasn’t good at Mirror’s Edge either lol, plus this is mulitplayer so not my forte.. if it has good single campaign I would play for the story. I haven’t used my XB1 that much either after DR3, Ryse, and Crimson Dragon.. I still need to go back to read Ryse’s scrolls w/ the smart glass feature, so cumbersome not in game.. DR3 I would get the season pass later if it’s on sale. I’m still playing more of my 360, I just bought Strider on that. A minor pet peeve, I don’t like the huge achievement pics for XB1 *.*; wish they would keep the standard icons. I never miss a good LE controller :)

          • Wake

Yeah, it sucks that they rarely provide a physical copy anymore. I can understand providing a digital copy for handhelds, but current gen games are just too big, for me anyway. Even the patches are crazy 13 GB for DR, right?

I do alright with FPS’s, but I’m not really a competitive person so I rarely dabble with multiplayer gaming. I also have a quirk when it comes to immersion. So having other people, especially the more profane kind of people, talking to me while I’m playing just breaks it. Titanfall however is just too cool to pass up XD

I tried the demo for Strider, it just didn’t wow me. The look of the game was just a bit too bland. Maybe I’ll give it a shot again, it’s been a while since I played a Metroidvania game.

Hmmm. You have a PS4, right? Any games you want to get for it?

          • Aoshi00

yeah, even w/ the Wii U Mario or Windwaker bundle, it was only d/l only.. so it’s like you have to choose btwn special themed console or boxed copy :(.. it seems like that’s the trend now.

I’m not sure if I have updated my DR3 yet.. I heard someone mentioned even though it’s a huge 13 gb d/l, but you only gain 2Gb net like they rewrite the data or something?

I suck at FPS, but TPS like Gears, RE, or Uncharted I do fine, so I can’t play Thief or D. I’m glad The order 1886 is 3rd person.. Bioshock is like the only exception for me lol.. yeah, multiplayer is weird like when people drop in on DR3, you hear all the background noises or kids yelling picked up by the Kinect.

I bought Strider right away after defeating the dragon in the demo. It’s quite a challenging game, I like all Metroidvania or Shadow Complex games, I think we could use more 2.5D platformers.. I bought on XBLA and just ordered the Jpn PS3 ver to collect too :) Like Ducktales or Walking Dead, I just have to have them on disc..

Nah, I was gonna get a PS4 but no killer apps for me yet.. I’m not a big Infamous fan.. maybe when FF15 or KH3 come around.. or if they have a bundle that includes a free game as incentive.. the only thing I want is Knack for now :) For multiplatform games like Murdered Soul Suspect or Watchdog, I’m still wondering btwn 360 or XB1.. I got AC4 on XB1 originally but don’t like the achievement icons so got the 360 ver, w/ my 1-3 lol..

  • SerendipityX

Give. me. that. controller. right. now.

    • Herok♞

I saw in store Saturday you could get it now if you want.

    • Aoshi00

I picked it up from Best Buy earlier this month it’s pretty sexy :) even though I’m not getting Titanfall (too bad no single player campaign), regular black one is kinda boring.. I still use my Gears 3 and Tomb Raider 360 controllers a lot, too bad there isn’t any for DualShock 3 at all (not the Jpn ones bundled w/ consoles). Maybe the 360 controller has more surface for cool patterns..

  • easter

You’d think they would at least include the controller.

  • Musashi234

……wow I wonder how long it took them to come up with this Bundle…..lame

  • Chido55

The bundle will include the following items:
    – Download code for a digital copy of Titanfall

    • sharpshot909

The 3DS bundles have those too, and that is much, much worse.

  • Freud_Hater

My, what a perfect opportunity to obtain the console at a reasonable price!

Find the flaw in this statement.

    • Fate

the words Pizza and Beer were not in thier at all.

      • Wings with some extra ranch never hurt with that combo: 12 medium and 12 hot and everyone is happy XD

  • Ni ~Algidus~

sexy controller. GIVE IT TO ME NOW

  • subsamuel01

This is actually worth it, the game is basically free. Still 499$ is a lot.

  • XaviIniesta

This is actually a good price.
The only problem is, it’s only a digital copy of an online-only game (so far), that will cease to work once the servers are shut down.

    • Good point but its a multiplayer-only game anyways right?

  • ZEROthefirst

Oh boy some slight incentive to buy an Xbone… Show me some real games and maybe I’ll think about buying one. I’m not going to buy a console for mostly nothing but FPS/TPS’ I want variety in games and MS hasn’t done that well since the original Xbox. By lack of variety I mean their exclusives, they’re aren’t any trully redeemable exclusives for the Xbox anymore to even buy one imo. I don’t mind shooters every now and then, but when the majority of any exclusives come around are almost nothing but that then I’ll pass.

  • LDM

Is it bad to say this is the first time I heard of Titanfall? What is it about?

    • ZEROthefirst

Think Call of Duty, but with mechs and parkour. It’s kind of fun, but gets repetitive really quick since you’re literally locked to doing nothing but playing multiplayer (there’s no single player). Before anyone says anything I have played on the closed beta at a friends house, and I really don’t get the hype for this game.

      • DesmaX

        That was just the beta.

There’s even a multiplayer campaign in the main game

        • ZEROthefirst

Still multiplayer only, so when the servers for the game go down eventually it’s nothing but a pretty drink coaster.

  • DesmaX

That’s actually a pretty cool package. Having Titanfall (Best FPS I’ve played since CoD 4) and one month of Gold for the same price as the normal package sounds pretty neat

  • Chee Yang

And to think that the bundle will include the special edition controller, that would have seal the deal.

  • NintendoPSXTheSecond

Lol it dropped quicker than the Wii U.

  • otakumike

why can’t I downvote anymore? I wish to display my displeasure towards certain comments.

As for the X1, good luck. they’ll definitely need it to catch back up to Sony.

    • Aoshi00

perhaps you could address your displeasure by directly responding to such comments, on why you disagree constructively w/ what’s said instead of downvoting anonymously w/ ease for not much reason? maybe that’s the point they disable it..

      • Somebodyissilent

You do know that a downvote saves so much time. It stops you from having to tell someone why and what hey may be wrong about.

        • Aoshi00

yeah, but most of the times downvotes seem so inane and immature and add nothing to discussion, especially when it’s anonymous. If it’s a troll comment, then people shouldn’t even bother. But if you genuinely disagree w/ someone and want to discuss, actually replying to the poster is another option and serves a better purpose.

Like I said, perhaps that’s why disqus disables it. though most negative and hateful fanboyish comments still get tons of upvotes easily, again showing the immaturity of some. Like the general XB360/One hate here, like getting a free $60 game is a bad thing even though it’s not a game you like.

          • Somebodyissilent

I foresee a lot more fighting in the comments.

          • Aoshi00

Want to clarify how so? I guess it’s a good thing people can’t arbitrarily and anonymously downvote now :).. Unless you like the automatic hate for anything XB1/360 related, even if a system includes a free game. and I doubt it since most trolls don’t bother to answer w/ reason. regardless there’s always negative comments and they get upvoted the most, if that means anything..

          • Somebodyissilent

Trust me, a downvote is far better than talking to someone who just won’t listen.

          • Aoshi00

yeah, some thoughtless comments do deserve it, but the feature gets abused and good comments often get downvoted out of spite too, maybe at the end disqus thinks it doesn’t serve much of a purpose for a discussion to see a public downvote. guess they could’ve shown who downvoted like who upvoted, to deter people and make them think twice before downvoting out of spite , but that breeds ill will too, so they just got rid of it altogether.

Still it doesn’t stop negative comments for getting upvoted for no reason. anyway, I don’t think it’s that important, and if you truly want to disagree any comment, let them know why.

Who knows, maybe it could come back, disqus always changes things.

          • M’iau M’iaut

This is indeed a disqus thing, and one from my perspective, the one good thing they have done with their updates. The vote bots have basically made any votes meaningless, and as Aoshi notes — it is far better to take 2 minutes to tell us your feelings over clicking over a darned arrow button.

          • Somebodyissilent

It sounds like a good idea but in practice it may not always workout.

  • miyamoto

    I smell fear.
