Diddy’s Twin Rocketbarrels Return In Super Smash Bros.

By Ishaan . March 3, 2014 . 10:30am

We’ve already covered most of last week’s Super Smash Bros. screenshots in individual reports, since a few of them were significant enough to merit their own stories. That said, here they are again in the usual weekly format, with a couple of the ones we left out, along with Sakurai’s comments.

Sakurai: “The twin rocketbarrels are back, now with the ability to launch along more horizontal trajectories. They can also come off when opponents hit them mid-boost.”

Sakurai: “Dedenne’s hard at work too.”

I recall some people were likening Dedenne’s attack to the X Bomb. Looking closer though, it kinda looks like the tendrils of electricity rotate.

The electricity totally looks like it rotates. That, or it’s like that other Pokemon from Smash Bros that trapped you in it dealing dps. (Don’t remember what Pokemon it was though).

Raikou from Melee is probably what you’re talking about.

  • Nanaki

Dedenne! I can’t wait to use it.

    • Serge

      Is a playable character?

      • Shadowman

Cannot wait to use what, a Pokeball item?

Waluigi, Wario and Pac man in the game = day 1 buy for me

    • Spirit Macardi

Wario is possible, but Waluigi is a trophy and Pac-Man would just be a crap version of Kirby.

      • How the crap are Kirby and Pac-Man even similar besides being ball-shaped?

Anyway Pac-Man has a rich and varied history of games where he can get his moves from, especially in the World series.

        • Spirit Macardi

They’re round and they eat stuff. Only Kirby actually gets powers from it. Plus Pac-Man keeps trying to be like Kirby (and Mario) in all of his recent games.

But yes, such a rich move set. Like his power from Pac-Man 2 to get pelted by rocks, or his power from Pac-Man and Galaga Generations to rip off Sonic the Hedgehog. And let’s not forget his greatest power, the ability to keep being milked by Namco despite his TV show and recent games losing tons of money.

Besides, it’s not like it’d make sense to have someone like Bravoman, what with his successful web comic and cartoon. Or Wonder Momo with her new game coming out. They should be more like Pac-Man and have no identity of their own!

          • With that logic they should remove Sonic in the game because his games haven’t been successful in ages. They should also remove every single character in the game that hasn’t been relevant in ages like Capt. Falcon.

Who cares about Pacman being Namco’s mascot and being one of the most iconic video game characters in the world right? Sure let’s let them put incredibly obscure characters from the 80’s who peopel even in Japan didn’t know until they brought them up in Namco x Capcom and have just started gaining a niche popularity due to the shows (not any kind of videogame) that Namco themselves didn’t even make.

And with all your examples you didn’t even mention any of his moves from the World series which I specifically mentioned in my post.

I wouldn’t mind Klonoa being playable to be honest.

The picture for today were those two witches from Zelda OoT which form Twinrova! They apparently appear in Gerudo Valley in the 3DS version!

I’m also guessing they start the fire in Gerudo Valley that we’ve seen in screenshots.

  • Xero Azure

Diddy doesn’t look like he realizes he’s in a fight lol

  • P4ine

Please let Diddy have his rocketbarrel theme from the Nintendo 64 game!!!
