This Week In Imports: Hollow Out Time For Dark Souls II

By Spencer . March 10, 2014 . 4:00pm

imageFrom Software and Bandai Namco Games has Dark Souls II ready for a worldwide launch. The role playing game makes death even more punishing by reducing your maximum HP all the way down to 50% if you keep dying. Players can create a dual wielding character from the start and if you don’t like the way you build your character it’s possible to respec if you can find a certain item.

Dark Souls II is getting a huge marketing push in the West, but in Japan From Software is self publishing the game just like they did with Dark Souls and Armored Core V. Will their game be a hit at home too?

My body cannot be more ready than it already is.

It feels like only yesterday that I was anticipating the release of the first game. I can’t wait to become completely obsessed all over again.

I got an early copy of dark souls 2 and all i can say is this game is INSANELY HARD.

First we have TOO MANY BOSSES (its more than double than dark souls) which i love about this game

Second every time you die this game CUTS YOUR LIFE UP TO 50% (the more you suck in this game the more you suck in this game…for real)

    Third IT’S A TRAP… too many traps

Fourth is the more of the same enemy you kill they disappear for good (how i can farm for souls if they gone? even bonfire doesn’t bring them back, i really hope it’s just a bug)

All i can say is this game is so good, buy it you won’t regret it 9.5 / 10

“Second every time you die this game CUTS YOUR LIFE UP TO 50%”
      So it’s like Demon’s Souls?

      • mzpro

actually it is a lot like demon souls even the level up system is back, only one NPC can level up your souls and you have to find it (it was in front of me this whole time but i was dumb +2 hours to find it)

    • riceisnice

Would you say someone who always plays on easy-normal difficulty would probably detest the game?

      • mzpro

if you are good at dark/demon souls you have no problem at all, it is kind dark souls hard mode so casual players may not like it.

  • Kornelious

You lose 50% of your health every time you die?! C-Can you get it back?….
Well that’s a Souls game for ya. I’m just glad I got my Collectors Edition game and guide coming tomorrow. MY BODY IS READY! BRING IT ON! >:)

    • MrTyrant

I read that one of the initial items you can choose let you reduce the amount of health penalty when you die.

    • Joseph Santee

Just so you know, it’s not 50% straight off. The amount you lose starts at around 5% loss, and INCREASES the more you die. Not only that, but if you REALLY (and I mean REALLY) fuck up, you may end up with less than 10% Max HP. It’s even crazier than Demon’s Souls, and I love it.

  • konsama

Considering this game resembles a lot of demons souls, imagine if they somehow tied the story and lore more intrinsically between both games aside of certain names and cameos. That would be seriously awesome.

God i can’t wait for it and i still don’t have a system to paly it on right now T_T.

I’m so going to go back to the city and take the PS3 from my bros just to play this. >:/
