Early Details On The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash II Are Here

By Sato . March 11, 2014 . 9:30am

Since revealing Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash II was in the works, Falmcom haven’t shared too much information on the game, apart from a few screenshots earlier this year. This week’s issue of Famitsu magazine breaks the ice with the latest on the upcoming PlayStation 3 and Vita title.

According to the magazine, Toval and Claire from the first Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash will be available as party members in the sequel. Toval seems to have an ARCUS that is customized to be able to launch multiple Arts at a time, which he’ll be putting to use as he helps the isolated Rean. Meanwhile, Claire will have herself a new set of clothes.

The secret of Emma Millstein, the chairwoman of Class VII in Trails in the Flash, will be revealed at an early part of the game, which will reportedly be a huge surprise to those who’ve played the first game.

The story of Trails in the Flash II will start out in a mountainous region, and you’ll be dressed in plain clothes to avoid the eyes of a certain group of nobles. There will also be a feature that lets you revisit the story from the first game.

Trails in the Flash II will feature over 20 party members, and the attacks, running motions, and NPC models have all been revamped. The “bonding” system where you could increase your relationship parameters with others will have more character options. There will also be several new key characters, along with many returning characters.

The Link System will be improved along with new features, and there will be new Arts with multiple elemental attributes. There will also be a new equipment system to the game. Unlike the past game where you were limited to certain areas per chapter, you’ll be free to visit just about any city in the game by walking.

Famitsu reports that there may even be characters from past Legend of Heroes games, and as far as the series timeline goes, the game will take place just about around the end of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Blue [Ao no Kiseki].

Finally, players with save data from the previous game will be able to transfer it to the upcoming game. There will also be DLC costumes when the Trails in the Flash II is released.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash II is currently in development for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

  • Prinny Dood

Nope that’s not every detail dood! You forgot to mention when its going to release in the netherworld dood!

    • That’s because there’s no release date yet. In the interview, Kondo states that the game is expected to release when the “weather is cool.”

      • Pyrofrost

Speaking of releases, I’m still waiting on Ao Evolution pre-orders to open up. It has been dated for June, but I can’t preorder it anywhere. Kamen Rider on PS3 comes out later and I already have that one locked, but I’m still waiting on Ao.

        • Probably to be announced real soon, actually! They’re supposed to reveal the opening for Ao Evolution at the event at the end of the month.

          • Pyrofrost

            AWESOME! *internet hug*

I will be looking forward to it!

  • TheExile285

    Wow, this sounds awesome :O

    • Pyrofrost

It’s a Falcom game, of course it’s going to be awesome ;)

  • MitsukiIX

So many mistranslation… Its Multi elemental spells not multicasting.

but thanks anyway for bringing the awesome news.

    • Sato

Where did I put multi-casting? If you’re talking about Toval, it says 独自の仕掛けでアーツ連射が可能, which would be a multi-cast of Arts. multi-elemental arts is already mentioned in the article (複数属性を持つアーツが登場)

      And you’re welcome!

      • asb

I see, that wasn’t in Hokanko’s summary. Running a google search I see you got that from Zaregoto; could you list them as a source? It doesn’t seem fair not to.

        • Sato

Ah yeah, I’ll add it right now. We usually do these “Flying Gets” on the… fly, so it slips up at times. Thanks!

  • Raze

Toval? Is that the male instructor the same as Sarah?

And yeah for Claire…Maybe the ninja maid can become party too…

    • MitsukiIX

Toval is the guy in the picture.

      • Raze

        Yeah I know….

    • Toval has technically been around by name for all of the series, but he actually appears game-wise for the first time in Sen. He’s not a teacher with the academy, though.

      • MrTyrant

Was he mentioned in FC/SC? I read some theories but I don’t know.

        • He is mentioned quite a bit in both, but with a different (though similar) name.

        • ogopogo

He’s the main character in the in-game novel series from SC I think? There’s a paperback (lol) copy of the series in Sen as well.

      • Raze

        I see…

Doesn’t he help other team in chapter 5 to fight Vulcan?

    • MrTyrant

Toval is also the main character of Zero no Kiseki’s manga where he was with Estelle and Joshua I believe. He is a bracer who was doing a job for the church (the woman from 3rd I think)

      • The person he’s working with in the pre-story manga uses the name Sister Ein. She has some brief scenes in 3rd, but she’s not the main female protagonist in it.

        • MrTyrant

I wanted to say a woman that appeared in 3rd, not the main character. My mistake.

  • dahuuuundge

Past characters making reappearance is what I like the most about the Kiseki games.

  • As a note, I don’t think it’s just Toval that’s able to do multi-element arts. My source seems to say that that’s a system-wide change.

  • I-e-on

I’m so glad they’re revamping the character models… The ones in the first game were super static and when they put their weapons away its like where did they go????

  • MrTyrant

I didn’t expect Claire in the team too. Kind of cool I want to see her bonding events hehe It seems that Zero/Ao cast will appear too, damn I want to see them in 3D and hope to control them at some point. The trilogy cast may also appear and I hope so.

    • ogopogo

The one thing interesting about Claire is that her last name is the same as the company that makes Joshua’s harmonica in the game. Makes you wonder if all the “Children of Iron Blood” are really orphan or not.

      • MrTyrant

I love all those interesting details and most of them are 98% related. I think this is why I love this series so much.

  • dis be gud

Toval be damned, I just want Crow back.

Unless Toval or Claire have Cipher equipped when they join or something.

    • MrTyrant
      • dis be gud

Not until he can inflict 20% death and other ailments on things.

      • ugh. I love seeing my scanslation on an aggregator despite the fact that I have a disclaimer on the first page asking to not be posted on them. :(

EDIT: Just checked. They only have the first chapter which we did ages ago. I feel better about it now, at least.

    • I think what’s going to make Toval interesting as a playable character is that he doesn’t use weapons. He’s 100% arts based. I’m really curious how they’re going to make him work in the Kiseki system.

      • dis be gud

Either very broken or very useless. It all depends on his MP, crafts, and the new arts. I’ll probably bench him in favor of Alisa or Elliot if high level quartz are as rare and annoying to make as in Sen.

It wouldn’t be the first time Falcom crammed in a (possibly) shitty character just to bolster the PC roster (*cough*Josette*cough*), anyway.

  • ogopogo

No mention of my waifu Towa-chan? Anyone who played the first game knows that she’s the true heroine and the most popular character in the game. They better make her a party member this time!

Also the chairwomen sounds really weird, shouldn’t it be more along the line of the class representative? Hopefully we’ll finally get to see what happened during Crossbell’s liberation in full.

EDIT: The article also mentioned revamped and more frequent Mecha battles which I guess is kind of a spoiler.

another loh game that will never be localized?

really sucks, falcom should have all their games released with english included these days, even just subtitles,i doubt it can be that hard to do unless none of the staff know english but even then they could still have it done.
