Neptunia Action Game And Hyperdimension Netpunia Victory II Coming This Year

By Sato . March 16, 2014 . 10:40pm

Compile Heart will be sharing more Neptunia love to go with Hyperdimension Neptuna Re;Birth 2 and Planet Destroyer Black Heart as they just announced two more Neptunia titles during the Dengeki Game Festival 2014 this weekend. Dengeki shares a little info on the new titles.

nep_01_cs1w1_480x270 nep_02_cs1w1_480x270

The first title they announced at the event was Ultra Dimension Action Neptunia U. As the title implies, the genre is an action game with the slogan of “slash-and-boing”. A platform for the game was not announced.

nep_04_cs1w1_480x270 nep_03_cs1w1_480x270

Next up, they showed Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II. The video that was shown at the event had comments such as “a goddess who fell into the dark side,” “the modification of Gamindustri,” and “the biggest threat of the series will arrive”.

Similar to Ultra Dimension Action Neptunia U, Compile Heart have yet to announce a platform for Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II. Both games are currently in development for a 2014 release.

  • Kami nii

    More HDN Please!! :)

  • s07195

I wouldn’t be surprised if it were still PS3 and Vita. The hack-and -slash one looks like it’ll be in the vein of Samurai/Dynasty Warriors.

  • Yuuki

    I’m so hyped!!

  • DesmaX

I’m curious for the action game.

If the turn-based games have serious framerate issues, I just imagine how they would do for an action one

  • $51888021

Very interested in the action game. I tend to enjoy action-based combat a lot more than traditional turn-based stuff, so that could be a great way for me to enjoy the series. That said, I know I gotta keep my hype in check. A good hack-n’-slash game is EXTREMELY difficult to make, especially if your team is new to the genre.

    • Pyrofrost

      I agree!
As can be seen by all of the fail Musou clones that have been made over the years. Hopefully the “U” title is not Musou style; but, more of an action RPG. Maybe even something along the lines of Senran Kagura Burst and Shinovi Versus, which are more like variations on Ikki Tousen games.

Anytime a dev other than Omega Force is making a Musou style game, I am always a leery of how well it will turn out. Only a few of them ever actually end up being good. For the most part, they all end up being garbage.

    • Kaien

      “Slash and boing”

    • HentaRobot

I’m hoping this action game would have similar combat style along the lines of KH. I’m not really a fan of Musou style games.

      • Veedot

But Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden aren’t musou style games and arguably more complex than KH

        • 60hz

wouldn’t put either in musou category on top of that only DMC is complex, NG is not complex at all, it’s just very very fast.

          • Veedot

NG:B/NG:S have some levels of depth, I just started NG:S2 and so far it seems similar to the first with some changes granted i only beat the first chapter but both have more depth than God of War

    • John Hayabusa

A hack-n’-slash Nepu game?! Imagine mixing Neptunia with Ninja Gaiden and/or Devil May Cry. It would be like NG/DMC with girls and moe.

      • You should probably bring your expectations down a bit considering this is Compile Heart we’re talking about, who’ve never done it before. I’d imagine something much simpler – like a Lollipop Chainsaw, Killer Is Dead, or Blades of Time-type game. Or how Onechanbara Z & Senran Kagura play from the sounds of it (I haven’t played either).

    • Andar

No kidding about the genre being difficult to make games for. One of the hardest things is making a game with an appropriate difficulty (it’s all too easy to have it swing in either direction, which are both frustrating), and not sacrificing the general pace of gameplay to do so.

And honestly, even though I’m personally a fan of the Neptunia series, I wouldn’t exactly say that the pacing of difficulty and gameplay are their strong points.

  • wererat42

I’m hoping for a playable Rei in HNV2.

    • OtoriGolden

      More sadistic/psychotic sounding voices yay!

  • Roberto

    neptunia 1
    neptunia mk2
    neptunia V
    and now neptunia VII

  • Kornelious

Awesome! A new Atelier game and now 2 new Hyperdimension games! First off, The action game sounds like a cool idea, but i hope it’s not another dynasty warriors clone and has some RPG elements, Also I am still trying to figure out what platform Ultra Dimension Action Neptunia….”U!!!”… going to be on lol ( Seems pretty obvious to me though)
Second, I’m kinda surprised they’re making a sequel to victory instead of a fourth installment, probally has to do with the likeablility of the Retro dimension’s cast. I look forward to it :)
And third, DAMN IT NISA! You should have announced rebirths and Noire game for localization before announcing two more! X(

    • BossBullet

      Nisa is weird sometimes.

  • AxionAzure

Interesting, I’ll look forward to hear more about these. There’s never enough Neptunia!

  • Varnes

I really hope that the Action game isn’t a Wii U Exclusive cause that big U is making me paranoid XD

    • Both games are being debuted in Dengeki PlayStation volume 564. So no.

      • Pyrofrost

As was stated to me, earlier today. It is possible. PersonaQ debuted in Dengeki Playstation, even though it is a 3DS game.

So it ‘could’ possibly be a Wii-U game.

        • JonathanisPrimus

Do you actually have a source for that? Google brings up no mention of Dengeki PlayStation covering Persona Q. I’ve found article referencing their reports on DAN, 5, and Arena Ultimax but nothing for the 3DS game.

          • Pyrofrost

Sal, the primary writer on Gematsu corrected me with that information when I made a similar remark. I don’t see why he would have a reason to make that up, as a Japanese gaming news provider himself.

  • Kayriss Wins

Ultra sounds like a Wii U exclusive, and VII’s antagonist sounds like it’s gonna be Blanc lol.

    • As stated above, both games are being debuted in Dengeki PlayStation volume 564 which will release on April tenth. So no.

      • Pyrofrost

As I stated below, PersonaQ debuted in Dengeki Playstation, even though it is a 3DS game.

So it ‘could’ possibly be a Wii-U game.

        • ragingmerifes

Persona Q was one of maaany Persona announcements, and the one exception. Neptunia U is one of two, so I don’t think they would announce half of the games for other platform. But I could be wrong.

          • Pyrofrost

I didn’t say it would be, just that it’s possible. Which it is. It’s not something to debate. It’s simply a fact that it could happen.

Which is why I corrected Aushria for simply slamming the possibility; just as I was corrected yesterday for making similar remarks by Sal at Gematsu.

    • TheGioG

My money’s on Vert’s potentially sexy yet shady younger sister being the villain (XBox One inspired). Keeping the Gamindustri populace under watch with the Kinect, that shady Sue…

  • Monterossa

Damn!! I can’t wait to play them all. It’s amazing to see this series growing up everyday even though the first game sucked so hard.

    • Mirai

Its the one thing I really like about Compile Heart. They are one of few developers out there now that listen to their fan’s and take their comments to heart and improve with each new game

      • Leon_Tekashi

Well in Japan anyway, not sure if they listen to their Western fans. =(

  • Tiredman

Neptunia V is by far the best in the series and if part 2 is ps3, and as good, it will be a blast. Here is hoping.

    • refrain

      Re;birth1 is good too

    • Meh. Call me crazy, but I personally thought it was the worst. Still looking forward to part two though.

      • Tiredman

I do have to ask, why did you think it was the worst? Neptunia at her best, a fun combat system that actually made using multiple moves useful, that interesting boss system with different dungeons depending on flag up or down. I am curious what makes it the worst for you.

  • Pdugna

I’m going to laugh if the threat to gameindustri is just a version of Xbox one….speaking of which I kinda wonder if they will be making PS4/Xbox/Wii U characters yet.

  • Liamv2

A goddess who fell to the dark side. Damn it there is too many things that could mean from the from the virtual boy to the xbox one.

    • Pyrofrost

I would totally call the Xbone on this one. They are the one of the three that tried to get away with implementing every anti-consumer measure they possibly could. Only to renege once the internet went through massive meltdowns.

      • Liamv2

Perhaps but the main thing against it is that neptunia has mostly tried to keep neutral in the console war. It’s always made fun of all sides equally.

        • Pyrofrost

True, and I’m sure it can still come up with ways to make fun of the others. I Just said that because it seemed like the only thing that could be considered “dark side” or “evilish” in recent memory.

    • Landale

I’m going to guess phones. Lots of devs neglecting consoles to various degrees in favor of phones, the excess of clone games mirroring a key part to the crash of 83.
As far as the Victory timeline is concerned, the girls are no longer based on one system, but rather the console line as a whole so Vert is already covering the Xbox One. By the end Noire’s in the Orbital-S Processor, named from the PS4’s Orbis codename, Vert’s in the Double Round Processor, named from the nickname Xbox 720. Curiously Blanc does not have a Processor based on the Wii U, ending with just the W11 Processor but she does have the W11-U Hammer.

Virtual Boy also gets brought up in Victory, as a horribly failed product on Blanc’s part.

    • TrueDefault

At first I thought it could refer to Plutia, but then she never left the dark side anyway. Theory busted.

  • Liamv2

I just thunked. Victory 2 means more Plutia that means more mindscaring goodness.

  • Demeanor
  • Rayhan PromisedGallery

    Hyperdimension Neptunia Warriors please

  • Loli Summoner

    Two games? damn…

  • WhyWai

“Ultra Dimension Action Neptunia U” — Hope it’s not a Wii U exclusive, bcos I dun have a WiiU

“slash-and-boing” — Dynasty Warrior style game confirmed

  • Demeanor

Mmm possible “evil” influences on gamindustri…
    – mobile gaming
    – dlc
    – microtransactions
    – xbox one ante-turnaround
    – excessive dev costs for recent games

    • Lalum

      Oh, the irony.

      • Demeanor

You’ve got a point XD NepNep games always have tons of dlc readily available (tho I must say a lot of it is free and I never felt the need to buy anything except maybe for the thing that shows you the hidden treasures), I was thinking about 5$ costumes and the like (DOA5 for example).

    • Christopher C

Wouldn’t the xbox one ante-turn around affect only Leanbox though?

      • Demeanor

Well, lots of ways we can go from here, maybe Vert goes nuts after seeing that her new box not only doesn’t get more shares for her country, but actually loses established ones XD so she starts invading (lol weak plot XD).
I still am not convinced tho, I can see them making references but if they were to demonize the MS console like this, well they’d be treading on thin ice XD can’t wait to see how they’ll surprise us!

        • Christopher C

Yeah that doesn’t seem that likely. And they’d be poking at MS more than the other three too. They all need equal treatment.

  • John Hayabusa

    Yes! More Nepu Nepu!

  • artemisthemp

I hope one of those 2 titles are for PS4 but, it could also be that Neptune U is Victory for PS Vita.

  • cyberkinghardy

Make Rei playable on VII ONEGAI!!

  • Tsukino

“Slash and boing?” When did the Neptune series become Senran Kagura?

I thought they tried to maintain a healthy balance of all flavors of moe, not just big boobs.

    • Landale

Well, in the first the images did do quite a bit of that, even with small chests. Even Iffy was bouncy…. I don’t think NISA did though, but then she’s flatter than a pane of glass.

  • Joshua Myers

Awesome XD loved the first 2 games havent played victory yet due to no money but eventually i will

  • Keko

Wii U, Xbone, PS3, PS4, Jaguar, MSX or Gameboy Color, I don’t care! I’m so hyped, I’ll buy everything and anything!

    • Aristides

lol I’d like to play a Neptune game on Jaguar :3

  • SchwarzesHerz

will there be finally a character representing PC in VII?

    • ThePsychoGamer

Actually I believe both the original Neptunia and V had PC representation.

    • Peashy was PC I think.

  • KingGunblader

Yep, that’s a Hyperdimension game all right.

  • HerosLight

More Tsunako designs is always a good thing.

  • Learii

I guess the first one is for WII U =/

  • Wow, can’t believe I’m late to the party on this one lol. I seriously wasn’t expecting new Hyperdimension games so soon, but this is awesome! Both games have their interest points for me. Ultra Dimension with it’s “Slash and Boing”, and Victory II saying “the biggest threat of the series will arrive”. Can’t wait to hear more =^_^=

  • Revolver Jesus Super Pimp

well goddamn, this is a looking to be a pretty good year for Neptunia

  • Whaaat?? Neptunia Victory 2? Please localize this, I beg of you. Also from the description, this sounds like it’ll be a parody of the next gen consoles.

  • Bobby Jennings

    Looking forward to these.

  • Zalin

I wonder if these games will be on ps4 or ps3? If they are ps4 titles these 2 games alone will be the pushing factor for me to buy a ps4.

  • Jason Ryer

Which game is a good starting game; i am seeing victory and kp on psn.
