Bandai Namco Erects A Goku Vs. Luffy Statue To Celebrate J-Stars Victory Vs.

By Sato . March 18, 2014 . 5:02pm

With J-Stars Victory Vs. releasing soon, Bandai Namco decided to erect a statue featuring a battle between the game’s top two most popular characters in Luffy from One Piece and Goku from Dragon Ball Z. Famitsu gives us a closer look at the impressive statue.

The statue can be seen at the Shibuya PARCO park, with a depth of 8 meters (26 feet) and width of 10 meters (32 feet). There are also about twenty different posters depicting match-ups between various characters spread around the area.

The statue depicts a battle between the two with Luffy trying to land his Gomu Gomu no Elephant Gun, while Goku is seen charging his famous Kamehameha on the side.

There’s even a stand with four PlayStation buttons which can be pressed to hear lines from Goku and Luffy from the statue.

The Goku vs. Luffy statue will be at the park from March 17th through the 23rd. J-Stars Victory Vs. will be released on March 19, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

That looks so freaking awesome, here instaed we only get “cinematic” trailers of games like MH…

    • J_Joestar

too bad we can’t get anything like a hot spring promo or a theme park exhibition in NA…

Ok! Japan = Best Place To Be!

As a tourist for a short period of time!

      Every country has it’s problems.

  • bimmyz

those lucky lucky lucky Japanese people… ;)

seriously if these statues were build someplace else, they would be “gone” overnight ;) and by “gone” i mean stolen ;)

  • Splinter

    That’s what I call marketing.

  • Lloyd Christmas

I wonder if there is a single person living in Japan who doesn’t know or has heard of One Piece or Dragonball.

    • hazelnut1112

I would say people around the world know of these two very much. I would say more people are familiar with Dragonball than any other anime out there.

  • Hinataharem

I wish America would go through the same effort for games

    • AuraGuyChris

      Nintendo does.

      Except not for anime stuff.

      • Hinataharem

When? Where? I have never seen one in anything like a park or public place.

      • Somebodyissilent

        When?

        • AuraGuyChris

i vividly remember them doing some public events with props and the like whenever a big game came out. They did something for SM3DL in New York, for example, unless that’s not what you mean.

  • AuraGuyChris

    Oh, please…

We all know Luffy wouldn’t truly stand a chance against a planet destroyer like Goku.

    • http://s1.zetaboards.com/Espada_of_Alexandria/index/ konpon568

Planet Destructive powers are commonplace for 2/3 of the cast. Including the supports.

      • Syn

ummmm, no, I disagree, there arent that many planet destroyers in the J-stars versus roster(and I mean straight out fireball and Boom your planets gone type of destroyers, not the take over the world kind).

    • Shippoyasha

Luffy would probably beat Goku in popularity contests. At least in Japan. I kind of wished the world wide push for One Piece wasn’t so butchered in early 2000s. Luffy went through a ton of adventures and had more iconic fights than most fighting anime protags.

        Blame 4Kids.

    • Rayhan PromisedGallery

we all know that power level =/= show & character quality anyway

    • fairysun

Following your own logic, Kenshiro and Kenshin will be among the weakest characters in the game. They only have their martial art and their enemy are humans. While most of the characters have superpower(Luffy, Seiya) or superhuman(Ichigo, Yusuke, Medaka) and their enemies are demons, aliens, gods, etc.
Fortunately, it does not work that way in the game.

  • D-Rev

I’m kinda wondering how Luffy is elevated…
    Sculpting, how do you work?

    • Lalum

He’s being held up by his big black fist.

    • konsama

Luffy and Goku follow no logical or physical limitations obv.

  • Servant BerserCAR

Place this guy statue/poster on the background then we will have the 8th wonder of the world.
