One Piece Unlimited World: Red Screenshots Introduce Pato And The Red Count

By Ishaan . March 20, 2014 . 2:00pm

A new batch of screenshots for One Piece Unlimited World: Red introduces two of the new characters you’ll find in the game—Pato the raccoon and The Red Count.

Pato possesses the power to create anything drawn onto a leaf, and the Straw Hat pirates are helping him with his mysterious mission “to meet someone”. Pato leads the crew to the Forgotten Island, where everyone except Luffy is kidnapped by The Red Count, who had escaped the lower depths of Impel Down two years ago.

Pato and Luffy then team up to rescue the rest of the crew, and as detailed in our past reports, you’ll get to play as the other Straw Hat pirates in the game as well.

One Piece Unlimited World: Red will be available in 2014 for Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in North America and Europe.

I’m torn on whether I want the 3DS version since I can take the game with me anywhere I go and it’s gonna be $20 cheaper than the Wii U version, or the Wii U version for the HD and dual analog control.

    • British_Otaku

The game plays just fine without dual analog, even without a Circle Pad Pro for the 3DS. Unless, the visuals rule your decision making in this case, it comes down to whether you would play local multiplayer at home but up to two people or local multiplayer anywhere, but other people need the game.

      • SDDMN

Ok cool, 3DS version it is!

    • CozyAndWarm

Considering it was developed originally for 3DS in the first place, I would think Namco optimized it for single-analog control pretty well. We’ll see though

    • GH56734

3DS is the leading platform in this case, and it sure is a fine looking game (playing well too).
They want to enhance the other versions graphically.. but besides that, I doubt they’ll invest as much as in those, and I’m almost sure all versions will share the same gameplay content.

    • John Pena

      Wii U Definitely for me.

  • British_Otaku

Assuming the source (where?) used it as well, it is interesting that they aren’t romanising the name as “Pat”, but whatever.

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Press release from Namco! Pato is the official name.

      • British_Otaku

I see… Going with “Pat” seems like it would flow a little better into the reveals later in the game, but sure.

I’m getting the 3DS version so I can play with my friends, but those HD graphics are tempting…

  • http://fr.twitch.tv/Nhatalya Aleksandrina

    Graphics are stunning. ♥

  • Balalaika

Getting the Vita version and supporting more anime based games being ported to the west, Now lets hope the new SAO vita game is ported as well.

  • ZnTxn

Un mapache que se llama pato… ¿o sea que hay un pato llamado mapache? :V

  • Steven Hunt

I could be wrong but based on appearance and powers I’m pretty sure Pato’s a tanuki, not a raccoon. They look similar but tanuki are actually a species of dog.

    • Michael Connell

That should make for an interesting meeting with Chopper since he’s constantly mistaken for one

Gotta go with the wii u version, the wii u needs the support also i have a friend thats a OP friend to play locally with

  • tubers

    Those gameplay or cutscene graphics?

    • Kaetsu

Both the cutscenes and the game look like that.

    • British_Otaku

I’m betting on cutscene visuals even with the PS3/Wii U/Vita, the 3DS version doesn’t look far behind even with fairly bland texture work but these cutscenes aren’t in engine even if they use the same models…

      *Wonders whether he makes sense*

  • Suicunesol

Yeeeeah…. I appreciate that the 3DS got this game, but the HD graphics from the cutscenes were what I really wanted to see. I might still get the 3DS version, but there’s really no reason to if I’m going to be picking up a PSV or Wii U sometime soon.

  • Prinny Dood

Vita and 3ds versions for me dood! Yeah I roll like that doods!

  • Pandakids09 .

I plan on getting both the Vita version and 3ds version

  • Namuro

Another escapee from Impel Down? I wonder what his power is…

  • Sekerei

I will be buying this for my 3ds does anyone know if this game is available for pre-order yet?

  • HassanJamal

So is Europe getting physical version or is all digital? For vita i mean.

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Yes, all four platforms are getting the game at retail in Europe.

      • HassanJamal

Alright, guess Im getting the Europe version. Shame as my account is US. Thanks.

  • Lifestreamer

I’m torn between the 3ds and ps3 versions.
The japanese people got some promotional costumes upon purchase, hopefully we also get the same treatment.

  • fairysun

Getting 3DS version. My 3DS has been collecting dust since Link Between Worlds :(

  • Niloc

Instant buy on the vita, love the colors.

  • John Pena

Wait is this game going to be retail or digital. I hate digital but if it is then I have no choice.

aaaaaaannnnnddd the bot strikes back. -__-”

  • CozyAndWarm

Hey look the sonybot is back

  • Notquitesure?

Does that mean your not going to buy it?

  • AuraGuyChris

The bot clearly likes his/her/its opinion.

You see, the bot is Vita-biased.

  • http://mewisthebest.deviantart.com/ AnotherDeadArtist

    I see.
Let’s see if this works then.

blah blah blah Vita blah blah blah blah graphics blah blah blah.

If all goes as planned, I’ll have 100+ biased upvotes from the bot. Let’s see if it’s just a smidge intelligent.

Edit: as it seems to not have worked, we can conclude, that despite the indication of its comments, the bot does in fact have at least the smallest bit of intelligence.

  • 하세요

The bots just love instigating console wars.

  • John Pena

Stop being an a**hole and let him be, people have the right to their opinions. There is no need to ridicule him for his preferred handheld. I own both systems and both are great handhelds. Why cant you just get along?

  • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Maybe because in recent weeks, people are sick of seeing the more crazy Sony fans continually try to talk down to everyone else. It’s been happening in the Xbox posts as well, and it’s getting annoying, frankly.

Plus, I don’t think people were necessarily referring just to his comment, but the upvote bot that was liking his comment using guest accounts.

  • John Pena

If that’s the case then I apologize to AnotherDeadArtist, but he or she could’ve also ignored them that’s what I would do.
