One of 2014′s highly anticipated MMO WildStar will release on June 3rd of this year. Both the Standard and Deluxe versions recently showed up for pre-order and predictably with a slew of pre-order bonuses. On top of that if you order from the UK based retailer GMG, there’s a 25% off coupon discount for the digital versions.

Besides the 25% discount, the most important WildStar pre-order bonuses include a 3 day head start, access to upcoming Beta weekends (next one begins on April 4th). The 3 day head start essentially puts the release date at May 31st. There’s also several in-game bonuses like an Exclusive Rocket House, Exclusive Housing Trophy, Exclusive In-Game Title, and more. All purchases of WildStar gets 30 days of game time (free month subscription).

Whether WildStar along with other new MMOs such as The Elder Scrolls Online will revive subscription-based MMO is up for debate. Personally I think we’re long past paying $15 a month, but if enough of my friends will play, I can still see the appeal of a traditional MMO with a pay-gate (less trolls to be honest). Will there be enough content update to justify the monthly subscription fee? Tough call on that one.

    I was once excited for Wildstar because of the charm. But after waiting for so long it’s eeeehhhh. Funny how they are starting the beta testing weekends the day ESO comes out lol.

    But still, I hope others at least enjoy it.

      I think the player base will be great. I want to try it but I won’t really have time with school and work >_<;

      Meh, I got into the ESO beta, and its honestly exactly like skyrim. Except you have to share the mobs with other people.

    I’m not sure if I will play this, but I do like the idea of being able to fund your subscription with in game currency. Will be interesting to see how well it works with using player bought subscriptions to be sold to other players as a way to dissuade the value of the secondary market.

      It’s nothing new. It was done in TERA, which took it from another game, etc.

    Having played this, i can say that most of the players that arent press arent that great with one another. And you have to share mobs/gathering which would be fine if people didnt hijack your kills. Making challenges impossible, the client relies on alot of addons that should be basic for the game to already have. And classes still are not balanced, especially spellslinger being worringly underpowered compared to other casts like the medic. The story is kind of hard to follow since you get a few scenes then the rest are “called” to you that confused alot of players. And the lag is terrible input wise as well as server wise. Also some animations look stiff. Character Creaton is basic too. And its still highly unoptimized people with top of the range PCs and 16-32GB of ram were struggling with it. But it still has some great points

    Combat is fun without lag could do with EU servers, theres some great aspects of WildStar. But if i was anyone reading this id wait awhile before pre ordering just to check its for you. Im going to wait till open beta where all above issues should of been addressed!

      the challenges issue is because everyone is new and everyone is leveling a character at the same time. Problems like these that exist in beta are almost always better by a week after launch. Shouldn’t be an issue. It’s still beta – don’t worry so much about balance. There’s still a bit over 2 months until release and even if X class is underpowered at launch, there can patch it. I do agree about questing and the story parts being hard to follow at times since you finish something, then get a phone call, finish something else, get another phone call, etc. It just all bleeds together.

      I didn’t have much input lag or latency issue. Played on a medium population server (at least was when the character was created) and I had no issues. game being unoptimized isn’t a biggie as a lot of games at this point in the beta would are as well.

    I played two waves of beta and one thing that really struck me about this game is the beautiful environment. They have path choices when you make your character based on how you’d like to play the game. I thought that was neat since I am mainly playing for the artwork so I went with the explorer path. There is also a path for if you like to kill monsters, or learn more about the lore/story of the game. I think it’s a neat game overall even though it’s still far from perfect atm. (Then again it’s still in beta phase) The game play is supposed to be action heavy I almost think they should have controller support LOL it’s just really awkward for ppl like me who have carpal tunnel to be constantly mouse clicking to dodge and aim and stuff.. Other than that I hope they optimize the game more since I had to upgrade my video card just so I can actually play the game without massive lag.

    Also don’t mind sub based games since game developing is real hard work (in the videogames industry myself) and mmos are large scale games that (should, at the very least) have constant updates. Constant updates = constant pay for workers.

    I actually wan’t to see more sub-based MMO’s now… Playing the Beta of Wildstar reminded me how much more quality the game gets, and how much less stress. when using a regular subscription.

    edit: But sadly my bank requires identification during purchase. And i have lost those papers… So i cannot buy anything from GMG :x
