Zelda DLC For Sonic Lost World Puts Sonic In Hyrule Field

By Ishaan . March 26, 2014 . 8:30am

Sonic: Lost World is getting a free downloadable stage tomorrow, based on The Legend of Zelda franchise, Nintendo have revealed to IGN. Instead of focusing on speed, the stage, which you can see above, will attempt to focus a little more on the adventuring aspect.

The Zelda stage brings elements of different Zelda games together, including Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword. The Hyrule Field portion of the stage is an open area, but there’s also a dungeon that Sonic can explore, and this part of the stage is more Sonic-like in approach, focusing on speed through a linear pathway.

The Zelda DLC will be available for the Wii U version of Sonic: Lost World tomorrow, March 27th, via the Nintendo eShop. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata originally teased the DLC in a Nintendo Direct stream, but provided no details at the time.

I’m be honest here, I really don’t like Sonic but this is how DLCs should be done!

  • idrawrobots

Awesome. I hope there is Sonic DLC for Hyrule Warriors too.

    • AuraGuyChris

That’d entail having Tecmo Koei in this, which they won’t.

      • dawnbomb

Tecmo Koei IS involved in hyrule warriors, their pretty much the ones making the game, nintendo is just guiding them for quality control.

  • Namuro

I love that, seeing Sonic clambering in the chest like the young Link! The wide, open area is nice, too! I can’t wait to try this.

  • Spirit Macardi

Okay, this is just pure awesome XD

I wouldn’t even think they’d still be making DLC for this game, let alone DLC this massive in scale! Other companies should take note: THIS is how you support a game!

  • Chaos_Knight

Sonic looks pretty good with Skyward Sword’s art style.

  • Aaron K Stone

Is it odd that that this looks much better than anything else I’ve seen of Lost World?

  • Wait what

Really sad this isn’t for the 3DS version too.

  • Rokmoninov

I like how Link’s hat fits perfectly on Sonic’s hair spike.

  • IsaacGravity

Just saw the best of two of my favorite worlds here… I lost myself in all of that.

Too bad its Wii U version only…

    • E.T.993

      Buy one, then.MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

      • IsaacGravity

Not interested, sorry. I’ll continue to enjoy the 3DS version.

  • AceWildCard

Costume for the new smash Bros! :D

  • Ni ~Algidus~

this is a good case of ‘best of two worlds’ actually working.
this also reminds me that i need to play Lost World but I really didn’t liked the game :<

Yeah it´s not really a very good game. The characters (Deadly Six) are the most one-dimensional characters you´ll ever come across, and they go down without a fight at all. And a lot of the stages feel like they weren´t really thought through very well. Nevertheless, being a sucker for Sonic I did decide to pick it up on day one, and I don´t necessarily regret that decision. If you haven´t played Colors yet though, I warmly recommend getting that instead. Colors is a fantastic Sonic game.

  • rurin

This actually looks so nice. It makes me feel like I should get the game just to play the DLC lol

    • grevlinghore

I´m sure that´s what they´re going for as well! More people wanting to buy the game, that is.

  • Foxeh Shihōin

    greatest download content EVER!

  • Kotori Itsuka

omg, haha this is amazing! dayum, too bad I don’t have a wii u, but this loos pretty fun! btw, I still don’t understand this: do you u need to plug the wii u to the tv or something to play, or can I like take it to the bathroom and play with the wii u? I’ve heard people saying I need to plug it to the wii or tv or whatever. this is bugging me so much.

  • Jettythesunfish

You’ve met with a fast hedgehog, haven’t you?

  • Scipio

Does Lost Worlds have a dash attack at all?

    • grevlinghore

If you´re talking about the Spindash, then yes. And if you´re fairly good at the game, you can even use it infinitely without ever stopping. That´s how you´ll go about your speedrunning, for the most part.

      • Scipio

OK, because some newer games like Unleashed didn’t have it and it just left me confused.

  • Kalis Konig

Buying this right now. I’m sold!

  • I wanna see Eggmandorf. :p

  • Yan Zhao

Now this is the kind of DLC that people would never EVER complain about if its paid. Yet it’s free. When random costumes and cosmetics gets charged some absurd amounts in other games.

I have mad respect for Nintendo and Sega right now.

This looks awesome, no wonder it took them a while to officially announce this.
