    Toad’s Turnpike!

    • Tincho Kudos

In mirror mode that track was a nightmare!

    • Epic Markell Joshua

my most wanted track is back^_^

  • ecoutercavalier

I wasn’t excited at all until this trailer.

    • AnimeRemix

Eh… I still can’t say I’m excited at all still.

    • Same, I kinda want now, but no Wii-U yet… me think’s ill have to remedy that for this game :)

  • NimbusStev

Even as a grumpy old gamer who has long since grown out of Mario… I couldn’t stop smiling once the Rainbow Road theme started playing! This game looks gorgeous. :)

  • MrJechgo

Hope they shortened it a bit… because 7 minutes for 3 laps was a little overkill. Also, isn’t that Metal Mario from Mario Kart 7?

  • Maumac77

Seems like they brought back more than just Rainbow Road from N64 which makes me a very happy person <3

  • Narrator 1

    Donut Plains!

  • Crevox

What makes the trailer say Rainbow Road 64 is returning? I’m pretty sure every Mario Kart has a Rainbow Road, and it’s different every time. Heck, even in this trailer, the Rainbow Road is different.

    • Narrator 1

Mario Kart 7 had two Rainbow Roads, IIRC. The new one to show off what the system could do, and a remake of the SNES Rainbow Road to top off the nostalgia track list.

      • The Watcher

    • BlinkingRune

It’s really clear if you compare the two.

  • Tincho Kudos

  • shy guy ^o^

    • That’s not Shy Guy. That’s Brave Guy.

      • To get in on the track with all them veterans ready to bomb you with shells, banana’s and the new pirahna plant that’s out for blood?

That is correct… Brave guy indeed :O

  • Nyandroid

Did I just see a cat mobile?? =owo=~

Always loved 64’s Rainbow Road! So Im really glad to see the inclusion! May have to consider getting this.

  • Yes, because what we need is more versions of this infernal stage ._.

  • Mirai

Damn seeing the N64 Rainbow Road track really does bring back memories and I mean bad ones as I constantly kept falling off the track :D

    • AuraGuyChris

How? The track in that one was covered with fences.

      • Quizler

I’m pretty sure shells and those chain chomps could send you airborne enough to fall off

      • Mirai

As far as I remember there are at least a couple of places on the track where you can fall off if you’re not careful. Plus like Quizler said if you’re unlucky you can get shelled off the track as well.

  • NintendoPSXTheSecond

Dry Dry Desert is as horrible as I remember it.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Man this looks sick……..* block fort 64 for battle plz*

  • SetzerGabbiani

Nostalgia just hit me like a hammer bro.

  • TheGioG

Ah, Rainbow Road 64. More of my nostalgic memories with you were actually spent ON the track rather than falling into the endless abyss of space in the later games as a child. Thank you, star patterned railings.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      your comment made me cry a little….Thank you :}

    • Akemi Homura

I have fond memories of jumping off the left side of the beginning of the stage. Ah, what a feeling it was to land on the patch of road half way through the stage.. or die trying.

Rainbow Road 64, even with railings, I have fond memories of falling off you. =’)

  • ShadowJetX

Man, every time I see the anti-gravity nonsense in mario kart 8 I can`t help but feel they`re copying WipEout.

  • Shadowman

Well at least it not snes rainbow road.

    • J_Joestar

well the SNES RR wasn’t that bad in MK7 imo.

    • Song or the track itself? Track was awesome, no guard rails (u know, on future laps if u hit them and some parts had none iirc, made it MUCH more challenging >:)

Weirdly enough i cant remember the song… time to youtube XD

  • AuraGuyChris

*Sniff* I always like the remixes for the N64 Rainbow Road, if that music track is the one sticking to it.

By the way, did anyone notice it? Mario’s mustache flows with the wind. Nice detail there.

  • Eder GarcĂa

N64 Rainbow Road destroyed my nostalgia detector

  • PizzaWenisaur

If you noticed, a lot of the stages are 64 remixes actually, not just Rainbow Road.
    1. Luigi’s Circuit Wii/DD ( Possibly – it’s actually kind of hard to tell, might be stretched)
    2. Royal Raceway 64 ( The jump makes it obvious )
    3. Cheap Cheap Beach DS ( The docks and the underwater ramps )
    4. DK’s Jungle Parkway 64 (Railing makes me think so, but could just be jungle area of above track)
    5. Toad’s Turnpike 64
    6. Mario Circuit 3DS
    7. Donut Plains 3 SNES
    8. Moo Moo Meadow Wii ( says it )
    9. Rainbow Road 64

  • Kalis Konig

I hope My dream of having a Cup made up of 4 Past Rainbow Roads comes to fruition in this game. I am going to Hate it so much if it does. lol

  • KingGunblader

    Dat Rainbow Road 64 theme…

  • SetzerGabbiani

Who else got goosebumps at the end of the trailer with that familiar riff? This will pull me away from Monster Hunter 3…probably more than Smash.

  • NeptuniasBeard

I’m not a graphics whore, but i wanna have sex with these graphics!

  • BeatTheGG

    Oh no… the childhood feels… they’re coming back….

    I I

    Sh*t I told myself I wouldn't cry…

  • Hinataharem

But who saves Lakitu after falling off the track?

  • Junko Enoshima

The lack of Birdo in these trailers is…concerning.

  • NightzeroAX

N64 Rainbow Road how I missed you.

  • NeptuniasBeard

Anyone else hoping they keep that risky shortcut?

  • Kayriss Wins

    Piranha plant looks OP lol

  • Should have given Lakitu his cloud instead of the hang-glider attachment when he’s in the air, would’ve been WAY cooler. Bowser and his kids (well at least him anyway) shoyld’ve given him the lower part of his ‘bowser-copter’ from Super Mario World during the final boss battle as well.

But yeah. If you do that for one racer then you gotta do exclusive stuff for every racer and that usually don’t fly when you’re already making a balanced racer (heh) to appeal to everyones favorites.

Then you get into the hardcore stuff (oh boy…) like “Well the glider is faster than the cloud, and the bowser copter doesn’t provide any visible forward movement therefore slower” and you have people complaining for balancing issues, but this last part is all moot since the purpose is to have fun and not worry about stuff like that. “So what if Lakitu’s cloud is .5 seconds slower, it’s still fun!!!”

  • CirnoLakes

Nintendo knows how to create fun.
