Dark Samus is such a crying shame. Metroid’s low on viable roster
choices, and Sakurai just killed DS and Ridley in one fell swoop.

    • KingGunblader

I was hoping that she would at least be an alt costume for Samus, but I’ll take what I can get.

    • KoRLumen

Don’t count Ridley out just yet – we only saw a shadow!

… *trying not to sound desperate* …

      • Edzo04

i dont know why people think ridley even makes sense as a playable character

        • Sakurai himself has already stated with the Nintendogs stage that size doesn’t matter. They can adjust them as they see fit.

        • ν•˜μ„Έμš”

Pikachu should be much smaller than what he is, and Bowser should be larger. Size does not matter.

I still am set on him being a stage hazard, but saying it’s impossible for Ridley to be playable is wrong.

      • Nanaki

It was during that scene that we were still being introduced to stage bosses like the Yellow Devil. Sounds like Ridley’s on the same boat.

  • PreyMantis

Kinda disappointing that Lyn is just an assist trophy… Oh, well, the game is still amazing.

    • TalesOfBS

We really need a playable FE girl.

      • Raltrios

Preferably Cordelia. Smash needs a lance fighter.
It also need mai waifu :3

    • Anthony Birken

Your hopes are dashed along with mine…

  • Shinobikens

It’s sad when some of the assist trophies make better characters than Charizard and Greninja

Could Isaac not being an assist trophy mean what I think it means? :’D

    • xzeldax3

      It’s what I’m praying for!

    • Suicunesol

It could mean he’s just a regular trophy now.

      • SDDMN

Aww ya parade rainer. :P Still you could be right. Who knows when it comes to Sakurai and Smash Bros.

  • AuraGuyChris

I laughed when I saw the Pong one.

  • Oh Samurai Goroh is back also you can see him in the part of the Framerate discussion for the 3ds version of the direct

  • I had mixed feelings about this part. Midna made my heart skip a beat, Chain Chomp made me laugh and Dark Samus I loved and hated. I happy to know Sakurai didn’t forget her, but I’m sad knowing she won’t be playable.

    • doubleO7

She could still be a costume for Samus.

      • That’s not the problem. Metroid is a great franchise that gets so little from Nintendo these days. We need a proper new Metroid game and we don’t exactly need, but want more Metroid love from the Smash Bros series. And not in the form of Assist Trophies, Stages, bosses or items, but characters. Although, I am happy that we have 2 official characters now that ZSS is a stand alone character.

        • Ben Sylvia

Aside from Dark Samus, I believe Weavel from Hunters is the most viable Metroid character for Smash. Aside from his Battlehammer and half turret, they have all the Space Pirate tech from Prime 1-3 to create a moveset from.

The arm blade alone would be pretty cool to get to use.

  • TalesOfBS

Quite nice to see Midna there.
