image Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has been quite the hot topic on Siliconera especially after we covered producer/director Naoki Yoshida’s GDC panel. Since we know there are fans for Square Enix’s MMORPG here, we’re glad we can give copies of the game to our readers.

We will pick five submissions who will receive retail copies of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn for PC.

Official Rules

Download the Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn benchmark program and create a character.

Send a picture of the character to ff14contest (at) siliconera.com to enter.

Entries will be accepted beginning now until April 15 at 12:00AM PST. Winners will be notified by April 22.

“Prizes can be shipped throughout North America (USA, Canada, Mexico)”

    >Including Mexico in NA

    I might cry of happiness.

    • Guest

Well, Mexico is in North America; or am I missing some data?

      • Laith Rem

Most contests say NA and mean only US and Canada. It’s annoying.

        • Guest

Oh! Right… I’ve seen that in several contests, sometimes I’ve seen Quebec excluded too, I wonder why…

          • Neophoton

I recall Quebec has some law pertaining to labeling contests such as these as gambling or something. I can’t remember the entire reason, but that was what I heard from someone who lived there on why it’s typically excluded from contests such as this.

          • Evil-Antho

it’s probably because we don’t have the smartest laws here in Quebec. we got a Manga-café in my town and they’ve wanted to sell anime blu-rays and stuff but they can’t since they need to be officially recognized as a anime blu-ray distributor or something.

      • darke

Mexico’s in North America? I thought it was just inhabited by cowboys, gun-collectors, and had a small population of vaguely french-speaking northerners who occasionally rampage south and burn down the white house. :P

      • Maximiliano García

It is North America, but officialy here in Mexico it’s called Centro America (Center America) and that’s why we think that when they say NA they’re only saying USA.

        • Guest

Oh, interesting! I was taught in primary school that USA, Canada and Mexico are North America, from down there until Panamá, Central America and finally we, from Colombia to Argentina, are in South America. I guess the distribution in our continent varies according to historical, political and social factors. But at the end our continent is always America :P

I give siliconera props here, this is a cute lil contest to have for people that really anyone can do.

  • Kaetsu

Just the game or a subscription too?

    • FlameEmperor

I think the game comes with a 30 days subscription.

  • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

Already been enjoying it for over a year now. Hope some people that really want it, win it!

  • Suicunesol

Isn’t the contest slightly unfair? It favors contestants with powerful computers that can portray 3d models with high-res textures, better lighting, and anti-aliasing. If my computer has sub-standard capabilities, my character will naturally look less pretty.

    • omgwtfhax

99% sure it’s just a raffle. As long as you submit an image from the FFXIV character creator, you’ll have an equal chance at winning.

    • Firekitty

You’re giving the character creation in FFXIV too much credit. Most of the options have you selecting between four to six presets (I.e, pick one of four preset faces, then one of six chin-styles, five types of eyebrows, etc).

On the one hand, it’s sad is not as detailed as some other games, but on the other, it makes it hard to mess up a character too badly…

      • Suicunesol

Oh, well… okay. I thought I heard good things about FFXIV character creator. That’s too bad.

  • Kuromadou

I’m an overseas fans here and i’m crying right now

    • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

Have a friend win it or win it and send it to a friends house, and have them ship it to you lol =)

  • Evil-Antho

    this might be the chance I’ve been waiting for. I’ve been loving this on ps3 although I get problems here and there about targeting @.@ hopefully my computer will be able to run the pc version as well! I just wished you could transfer save data between pc and ps3 ;_;

    • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

No matter what platform you play the game on your account is still the same, and your character will be there if that’s what you’re worried about. As for your controls and things like that then yes, you will have to redo all of that once you switch to PC. When the game comes out for the PS4, on the 14th, there is an option to transfer the data between the two though.

  • planetofthemage

Question: Should it just be picture of the character in the editor, or a screenshot from the benchmark?

  • seyEliveD

Ha! No surprise here that SE is supporting Siliconera…

  • Chow

Question: Can we take a screenshot from the PS4 Beta? I haven’t finished downloading the character creator yet, but presumably there isn’t much clothing choice in it to showcase our characters.

  • Chow

By the way, has anyone been able to install this thing? The archive seems to be corrupt for me. I’ve downloaded it twice so far, and the file is exactly the same size each time. Is there a hash code for me to check?

  • Guest

Kind of confused as to how exactly I send in my picture :

Edit: It’s an e-mail address, yeah?

  • wesacer

how do you send them the image? I got a send error

  • http://www.reviewersunknown.com/ Ozzie Arcane

Kinda sad the character creator only lets you make characters in Paladin gear. That’s gonna make a ton of the entries look very… samey.

  • Akira Takeshima

Entered, hope I entered properly. I’m excited for this.

    • Miyako Arima

So I’m not exactly sure how to enter, I know we’re supposedly “competing”, but would you be kind enough to give me a bit of information?

  • http://vindictushots.tumblr.com/ Okuni-chan

For some odd reason I read that as Win Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn PC and nearly passed out (^.^; )

  • Volta

No love for LA Siliconera? :’(

  • Erick Soto

They’re going to notify via mail and also announce the winners here….right???

Just a few hours til the notification… Good luck everyone!

  • Akira Takeshima

I’m TRYING to be patient, I really am, but i’ve checking the mail every day since the Email notification of winning. I”M TOO EXCITED TO WAIT!!! *twitch twitch*

    • Akira Takeshima

See envelope in the mail, die of excitement cause it’s my game. Isn’t my game. Is a foot long stick of jerky. Not sure how to feel.

      • Akira Takeshima

It arrived! *and she was never seen or heard from again*

        • Erick Soto

I received an email from them (ff14contest(at)siliconera.com) and said i won a copy and Asking for my shipment adress but never got replied ever again… So I wonder…. :(

          • Akira Takeshima

Yep, they don’t reply after you give them info, they just send it. Gratz.

          • Erick Soto

Thanks, then hope it gets here soon….:0
