Cute Witches + Cute Enemies = Flying Girl

By Eugene . April 17, 2014 . 5:34pm

Cute witches shooting equally cute foes is what you get with Flying Girl. This smartphone shoot’em’up features a cast of magical witches and foes that wouldn’t look out of place in Maple Story, but maybe with a little bit of a Deathsmiles type feeling.

(Flying Girl is part of Kakao’s lineup. Kakao’s a chat app like WhatsApp or Line which you then use to sign in to the game)

Players can befriend different sorts of pets who fly alongside you in combat such as gingerbread men, ghosts and stars. These pets offer different sorts of special bonuses and attacks for the witches three—Avis, Anna and Moly. You’ll enlist their help while trying to gun down foes like ghosts or floating slimes. Interestingly, you can play Flying Girl with either right or left-hand modes.

The three girls can also transform. Called “Dress Up”, it temporarily turns your cuddly witch into an all grown-up beauty with a magical beatdown stick. It even has a transformation sequence like Sailor Moon or Akazukin Cha Cha.

Flying Girl is out now on iOS and Android. You’ll need Kakao to play it as well.

  • My thought process went like this: I started watching and thought the game was cute. However, when they did Sailor Moon inspired transformations, my tune changed to, “I MUST HAVE THIS!”

Strike Witches and the Cotton franchise come to mind also.

      And Magical Chase :P

I’ve noticed a lot of Korean video games on Google Play.

And I think that it’s great that the South Korean video game market is growing! Their game development is imperfect, but I think it shows of promise! I love some of the innovations that are happening in their MMORPG industry!

This looks like a lot of fun, so I’ll definitely be trying it.

  • Kakao and LINE are full of predators that’s all I gotta say, so be careful if you’re trying to play anything. Not to mention people use those stuff to cheat on others too.

Ha ha, those transformations. I am not entirely sure that they made those with a female audience in mind…

Still, nice to see they at least think of lefties too.
