Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto Arc Films Get An English Subtitled Trailer

By Ishaan . April 30, 2014 . 10:40pm

A new English-subtitled trailer for the second and third live-action Rurouni Kenshin movies is available for viewing (thanks, Anime News Network). As detailed in previous reports, this movie will follow the Rurouni Kenshin manga’s Kyoto Arc, with Kenshin’s successor, Makoto Shishio, plotting to overthrow the Japanese government.

The Kyoto Arc has actually been split up into two movies. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno will be released in Japanese theatres on August 1st. Following that, Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends will be released on September 13th.

Awesome, I have to wait till it comes to blu-ray to import it. Own the first one and still watch it once a month lol.

  • Shippoyasha

I LOVE how they are staying loyal to the manga and even anime sensibilities with the costumes. Even if they may be slightly wonky at the edges, they clearly respect the original material and are sticking close to it. I wish I can say the same for all the videogame/anime/manga/comic movie adaptations out there. Most productions just seems to lack respect for their source.

    • John Diamond

I’ll watch this, seeing how i watched the anime really recently.

still tho. steven blum as shishio was pretty badass

  • burnfist23

I probably need to see it properly, but it looks Shishio is a little shorter than I expected him to. Otherwise, this was awesome! The first movie was great (and honestly the only good thing that came out of the anniversary the other year) and I’m even more hyped up for this film.

  • fyi1191

    Saito looks are badass there.
On the other hand, Aoshi what the heck happened? He’s suppose to get an actor with looks like Kenshin did.

    • DaiRaiOh

He got an absolutely fantastic actor, and that’s what matters.

    • Aoshi00

I think Aoshi looks okay lol (yeah, kinda wish they found a better looking actor than Iseya Yuusuke).. Eguchi yousuke is a handsome saitou though, they look tall at least..soujirou looks good too, so does shishio.. Like someone said looks like final battle takes place on rengoku.. The first movie was great, the new ovas were horrible :( i’m glad they pulled off the live action which was not easy to do.

    • burnfist23

They got an older looking actor to be Aoshi, which I think is perfect.

  • TheExile285

So this looks pretty awesome. I still need to see the first movie though >.>

    • Kalis Konig

It was amazing. Any fan of the anime/manga owes it to themselves to watch it!

  • Sakurazaki

    Ahh, Emi Takei~

    <3 <3 <3

  • Kalis Konig

Nice! This was the best arc in the series. if you ask me this arc felt more like a proper build up to the ending then the actual final arc.

  • nonscpo

Nice I had almost forgotten they were still making it, will have to watch the first one

  • Abend

    Ore Sanjou

    • Revorse

From start to finish we’re at a climax. Or something like that.

      • Chido55

Saisho kara saigou made, CLIMAX taze!!

        ^ something like that.

  • David García Abril

    It looks pretty exciting.

I’m just concerned about one thing: it looks like the climax will take place on board of the Rengoku, the warship that Shishio tries to use to attack Kyoto from Osaka Bay.

That’s what the last OVA did… and it didn’t turn out well. Not one bit.

But fortunately, it shouldn’t be too difficult to fix.

Now, I just have to watch the first movie already! lol

    • burnfist23

Well, one (of many) thing that both the first movie and what we can see of this movie has over the Shin Kyoto Hen is that the fight choreography is exciting. Plus, they’re definitely doing a few things differently. For one thing, they’re having Kenshin, Saitoh, Aoshi, and Sano fight Shishio just like in the anime/manga, but this time, it looks like they’re gonna actually fight together.

  • Masa

Didn’t enjoy the first one much but this looks 10x better!

  • Ecchitori-san

I liked the first one and watched the anime when I was a kid (I’m still innocent from the awesomeness of ecchi anime) Excited about this one.

  • fairysun

DANG ! This is awesome !!

I can name most of the characters except two.
The woman at 1:20 and the old man at 1:21.
Who are they? Yumi(Shishio’s lover?) and ??

  • Kornelious

Oh Kenshin, they orginal Samurai Bad-Ass….So many good memories :)

    • MoriyaMug

      Kenshin wasn’t a samurai.

      • Thomaz Barros

        Nonsense, he was Samurai X

        • Kornelious

Now I’m really confused lol XD

          • MoriyaMug

I think (and hope) that Thomaz was being facetious, in reference to the stupid and nonsensical English title that the OVAs got when released domestically. Kenshin wasn’t a samurai. By the time of the Bakumatsu, samurai were essentially extinct. The only people legally allowed to carry swords were the Shinsengumi.

  • Yan Zhao

I didnt even know there was a live action movie in the first place D:

    Gota check this out.

  • Learii

I hope thy do more of kenshin live action movies

  • Overlord Val

Did they just cut out the rest of Juppongatana!?

    • Pombar

Thankfully, yes! There’s way too much to cram into two movies, so they’ll trim the less important stuff to do justice to the rest.

  • Chido55

Don’t tell me, The Legends End will cover Enishi arc!? 0_0

    • Pombar

Nah, the trailer above is for both films, and Enishi was nowhere in sight.

  • isotrex

Brings back nostalgia. I can’t wait for this film to be release.
