The Dragoon From Kirby Air Ride Is Back In The New Super Smash Bros.

By Ishaan . May 9, 2014 . 9:00am

The Dragoon from Kirby Air Ride is back in the new Super Smash Bros. game. Director Masahiro Sakurai revealed the item via a post on Miiverse.

Alongside the above screenshot, Sakurai wrote: “Uniting three parts will complete the legendary Air Ride machine…the Dragoon! It’s back! But we didn’t just leave it the way it was, and added some nice touches to the design of the targeting screen. It is, of course, in stereoscopic 3D on the 3DS.”

He included a second screenshot, adding: “Just the target screen felt lacking so here’s a pic of the Dragoon itself. I wanna get on it. I wanna get on and ride it.”

Super Smash Bros. will be released for Nintendo 3DS this Summer. The Wii U version of the game will follow later sometime in Winter.

That looks pretty sweet. Reminds me of Curse of Dragon. Kirby the Dragoon Champion.

Nintendo. Kirby Air Ride U. Make it happen. I suppose in a few years when MK8 isn’t as wildly popular and the install base is larger but…I need it.

Yes please. City Trial was some of the most entertaining local multilayer I ever experienced in a video game.

Imagine city trial….but…WITH 8 OR MAPS. ASDFKJFKD!!!!!!
And with online…oh man that’d be heavenly.

Though on a much more serious note, if they were to do a sequel, I’d hope they focus on fleshing out both the racing mechanics and tracks a bit more. As much fun as I had with the regular racing, it never really felt….well as fulfilling as it could be ( If that makes any sense )? The courses felt a bit too enclosed, and it lacked that competitive vibe, and the powers while nice never really did much to hold back you’re opponents like they were just sort of thrown in there for the sake of having it ( Not the City Trial mode of course, everything worked wonderfully with that mode). I think they should enlist the help of the group who are doing MK8 when/if they ever feel like doing it. They could bring some wonderful ideas to the table, as a matter of fact, the mere potential of it is making me drool. :D

I Think Kirby Air ride was the first time I actually went for all the Achievements in a game, It was so freaking awesome to fly around in the dragoon to!

    • T-X

I think they pass up quality third/second party opportunities when they dont develope their other racing IPs like Air Ride and FZero.
