The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash protagonist Rean Schwarzer will start out the second game on his own, until he meets Tovar during his solo journey, but it looks like he’ll have other help – powerful mecha-like partners according to this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine.

In addition to Tovar, Claire, and Altina are playable character too. Famitsu reports that Rean Schwarzer’s sister Elise will also be a playable character and she’ll be using a rapier as her weapon of choice.

Rean will also have a special Craft that allows him to summon a “Cavalry God” for a cost of 200 CP. This feature can only be used once per battle, and will provide your party with an offensive prowess of a mecha-soldier partner.

The Cavalry God can use commands such as attack, defend, and Craft. Once summoned, you’ll be able to select a party member as a “partner” for it. During the partner’s turn, you’ll get additional options of “Charge,” “Spirit,” and “EX Arts”.

The partner characters can also be switched out during the current partner’s turn, which might come in handy for strategic purposes in the midst of combat.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash II will be released on September 25, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Meanwhile, you can read up on the game’s other newly playable character, here.

DId these games always had Mecha? I wasn’t paying attention to any of these, since I never did bought the latest PSP title to be localized.

    • Ren

Yes, although they were not playable until Sen as far as I know, and even then I hear it wasn’t for a fairly big part (I’m still in Zero no Kiseki). You can’t talk about them without spoilers though.

      • MrTyrant

Ao no Kiseki have mechs. One of them was very destructive. Wait for them in evolution. That specific event tie down with Sen no Kiseki.

        • Ren

I actually have been partially spoiled about that. Poor girl, losing her parents like that.

    • Ferrick

yes they do, but this is the only kiseki where the mc is allowed to pilot them

    • Lynx

      Yep.

Sen’s the first one where the player can use them though.

  • dragoon_slayer12

Is that a JP date or NA?

    • Ferrick

      JP

North America’s about 5 games behind on this series. Don’t even think about it coming out in English anytime soon.

      • Godmars

        But isn’t one coming?

To the PS3 that is. Think two are on the PSP.

        • luckgandor

Trails in the Sky FC is available already on the PSP, and is coming to Steam sometime 2014. SC is coming at the end of 2014 at the earliest, on both the PSP and Steam.

Nothing beyond the first two games in the trilogy is planned, and whether or not we get the later ones depends entirely on how well SC sells.

        • luckgandor

My bad, SC actually has a target of Summer 2014.

  • MrTyrant

OMG! summon a mech in the middle of the battle? no shit. LOVE IT! like Xenogear.

    • Raze

He will scream “VALIMAAAR” and when the summon end/valimar lose, he will scream “YAMETEKUREEEE”

      Pfft…Gotta love that shit…

      • MrTyrant

Remind me to old mech shows….love it.

  • Kornelious

I promised myself I wouldn’t comment on a localization and such….So instead I’ll comment on…..uhhh……How the map looks like Tales of Xillia’s map!…….so yeah……..DAMN IT XSEED! Where is Trails in the Sky SC!?

  • Rocco

So Legend of Heroes is going up the sci-fi route huh? Totally reminds me of Xenosaga. Not to mention they are both so story-heavy too. Now where is Xenosaga Episode IV…

    • AkuLord3

Its not like the series never had mechas before, just that now we actually use them

    • Ferrick

mechas have always been big in Kiseki storyline

    • Rocco

Oh yeah, Rin totally had her own Pater-Mater. Wish I can use that too. But being able to summon a mecha in battle definitely reminds me of Xeno. They are both my favorite JRPG series.

  • Such spoilers for Sen1 ending :D gotta love falcom for spoiling the past games with each new entry.

    • Slayven19

Doesn’t every sequel for the most part do that? I mean since its a continuation what are they supposed to do?

      • yes but do those spoil the final battle and ending?

  • Raze

Not only he has transformation in this one, now he can summon his mecha too…lol…

I hope they transform the mecha too if Rean summon it in his white hair mode….

  • biskmater

    More RPGs need mechas.

    • Ric Vazquez

      true

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

    The game looks beautiful.

  • michel

I suspect that we missed something not having the first episode of this JRPG translated… I’m playing the japanese demo on PS3 and looks surpisingly solid, although it’s obviously the product of a little software house and not FFXIII.

    • DanielGearSolid

      Help me download it
