I haven’t played a DW Gundam game since the very first one, despite really liking it…
Since it’s coming out physically here, I might as well take the bait.

  • Atwa

I’ll buy anything Gundam related just to show support. Wish the Vita version came but will have to do with the PS3.

    • Godmars

I’ll buy anything Gundam related – so long as its not this DW clone.

Because when you show support for something like this, chances are you’ll only ever see a game like this.

      • MrTyrant

        I really want the vs one ;__;

      • Brion Valkerion

But when its the only gundam thing to support…

      • greeeed

        better than nothing at all
(they even stop bringing manga and anime to the west

        • Godmars

Because they upped prices in Japan and wanted to stop reverse-importing.

          • Lynx

            No?

Bandai Entertainment got shut down by Namco Bandai because they don’t understand how the North American market works.

Tokyopop, who did most of the manga, went bottoms up too.

It had nothing to do with stopping reverse importation or price.

          • Godmars

            Yes.

They didn’t understand the US market because they had to put 5-6 episodes on a disc where its 1-3 with a 50% and upwards price hike in their own country. The US market leveled out, anime itself suffered a creative lull, so instead of sticking with it or even promoting creativity as profits stagnated or decreased they abandoned the market.

Likewise Tokyopop was effected by the anime crash, likely ran into issues getting licenses at reduced rates, and couldn’t survive.

And while reverse importing had nothing to do it then, or rather because it took upwards to years for something in Japan to show up in the US legally which also contributed to the crash, its become a thing thing now that releases are almost simultaneous just to keep up with piracy.

Not really, without any games releasing the fan base gets smaller and start not caring. Koei makes all their games like this so not buying their titles won’t make a difference. You have to somehow pitch ideas to namco to localize the other gundam games. They are listening to things now so we may have a chance.

  • KH1989b

why no physical for USA? Ugh…guess I will have to import the EU version.

Namco you know what we want.

    • Ferrick

      Gundam UC 1~7 Game? :D

    • Godmars

Sadly because either Bandai or Namco have become insanely greedy, and by that I mean the nonsense of ignoring Western audiences so that they can charge Japanese fans $90 for 1 episode DVDs instead of $40 for 6 episodes like the use to do in the US, they’ve stopped “advertising” their licenses like Gundam.

      • Domii

It’s a shame really. I been a Gundam fan since the early toonami days. My best memories were coming home from school to watch DBZ and Gundam wing. I wish Namco would feed us more Gundam games instead of just this Dynasty warriors garbage.

      • greeeed

90$ because yen become stronger than $
in 1990 yen used to be half than $ so when they sell something 9000 yen it will become 40$~

but because $ become a lot weaker than yen till yen price become same as $
        so now 9000 yen movie = 90$

those who live in japan see no different since it was always at that price.

only people who import from or sell to outside notice it

just like how USA resident didn’t notice change in dollar while people who live outside notice
(a lot of items price increase.
what I used to buy for 20$ -> become 30$ from eu)

  • Ferrick

FA UC here i come :D

  • dahuuuundge

Gundam Musou 3 was terrible mediocre and boring. I doubt this will be any different.

LOCOLIZE THE GUNDAM VS EXTREME FULL BOOST

  • ZEROthefirst

I wonder how many people in the states are just going to opt to importing the European release for physical? I know I am because I can’t stand digital only, might go with the Japanese version though just so I get the actual Gundam music in there and not generic rock tracks (I already know how to maneuver through the menus and let’s be honest when you play a DW type game you don’t really pay attention to the story since there really isn’t much of one).

    • Lynx

This game has custom soundtracks, assuming they don’t take it out, so the removal of themes doesn’t really mean much.

      • ZEROthefirst

That’s true but you really have to go out of your way to download all of the tracks throughout the Gundam series’ to get what’s in the game.

    • Ryumoau

i hate that its digital only as well. But i’m glad Koei at least came to their senses and decided to price it appropriately at $39.99, instead of full price.

      • ZEROthefirst

Oh wow that’s the first time a digital only release actually has me thinking it’s a reasonable price. Not being sarcastic here either, I figured like most other digital only games it would be full price or a tiny bit less at $55 or something.

  • Evil-Antho

YES! YES MOAR BIG! MOAR ZAM! I want to be that god’s forsakenly hilarious Big Zam XD yes it is all the fault of game grumps, but I do want to get interested in gundam, and I believe this game is the key to get me into this series.

  • Ryumoau

July 1st? very nice! DW Gundam 3 was the first game i ever earned a platinum trophy for. I can’t wait to play the fourth game. :)

  • Skode

Theyve even abandoned the Xbox 360 with the DW Gundam series now eh? It was the only series to have every installment released on it as well as usual suspect in PS3. That could maybe hit sales a bit but i suppose they know what they are doing – its on disc and its coming to europe so thats good enough for me. Even get to play it before the americans, a rare treat indeed.

    • J_Joestar

yeah, i bought all 3 on the 360 when they came out, but i wont be able to get this one now.
