Sony To Cover Indie Game Area Costs At Tokyo Game Show

Sony Computer Entertainment will foot the exhibition costs for developers at the Tokyo Game Show’s Indie Game Area this year, the company has announced. (Thanks, Gamasutra)

Applicants can begin applying now, and the ones that are selected will be able to showcase their games at the Indie Game Area. Due to Sony cutting a deal with the TGS organizers, these developers will not have to pay exhibition costs themselves.

Additionally, Sony’s Brad Douglas clarified via his Twitter account that Sony have no say in what games get selected for the indie area—that decision is entirely up to the show’s organizers, so non-PlayStation games are covered as well.

“We don’t care if the game is on a PlayStation platform or not,” Douglas tweeted. “The more indie games, the better! Just bring cool stuff!”

Tokyo Game Show will be held from September 18th – 21st this year.
